Blandford Forum town centre is needing a bit of TLC like many English towns now.
Too many charity shops which is a sad reflection of local council management.
Wonderful town walk down to the river Stour though.
A few interesting restaurants would be an added attraction for all generations, as well.

Winterborne Houghton which is actually the village we stayed in. Blandford Forum is a 15 minute drive away. Houghton is a very pretty village with lovely gardens and houses. Lots of thatched properties. There is a fish farm which sells delicious fresh trout and Arctic charr. There is a pub which was very nice but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on the food. We walked to the pub, about a mile. Very friendly people.

It's a lovely town with a great museum, scenic river walks and nice cafes, restaurants and bars.
One thing to be aware of is that public transport is limited at weekends. There are no bus services to Shaftesbury or Salisbury or Yeovil on Saturdays and Sundays.

I am relocating back to Blandford (thru personal choice) so it can’t be too bad !
Few empty shops which is a shame, could do with a bit of upgrading of shops and facilities and I thought a cinema was in the pipeline, but no show yet!

The village of Kingston Zelston is very quiet and pretty, we were lucky enough to see a pair of geese by the river there with goslings. Although I didn't go into the church the outside is well kept looks as if it is well used.
We had a fantastic day at Monkey World and also an extremely enjoyable afternoon at Keyneston Mill Botanical Gardens & Bistro. Many other places of interest to visit, but sadly time didn't allow us to fit them in.
We will return there in the future.

A delightful place half way between Wimborne and Blandford Forum. We were made most welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were cooked to order and were delicious. Our room was quite spacious with a good sized bathroom We have paid more for less satisfactory accommodation. At all times we were treated in a polite and friendly manner by the staff. We had two delicious evening meals. The menu is straightforward but quite varied. When we next visit Dorset this is where we plan to stay.
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would have been happy to extend it given the opportunity. The room was clean spacious and comfortable and given that they are built around the courtyard it felt as if we had our own patio outside.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the food was well presented and delicious. The location in a peaceful country hamlet between Blandford and Wimbourne was perfect for a relaxing break and very dog friendly. An absolute gem.
Receptionist was very helpful in changing our day of arrival, when the weather prevented us from travelling to Blandford. All staff were polite and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable; the heating was easy to adjust, once I learnt to use the bathroom towel rail. The actual building was pleasant to look at; it is obviously a popular venue in the town. The breakfasts were very good and evening dinner was excellent.
Room decor was gorgeous and sensitive to the history of the building. The family suite was absolutely perfect with a large spacious main bedroom, a separate comfortable room with twin beds, a a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was very generous and tasty. Perfect hotel for a family traveling and near to Durdle Door and the Bovington Tank Museum.
Lovely venue full of character
We were very well looked after by the owner and her granddaughter who was like a breath of fresh air. So polite and efficient in her work.
Very welcoming and friendly.
The hotel is very clean nicely decorated and comfortable
Breakfast is cooked to order and delicious
We will definitely stay here again
The room was comfortable, well decorated, and very spacious. The breakfast was delicious, both from the buffet and the menu. Blandford Forum makes for a great location to explore this beautiful area of England. The staff were incredibly friendly & helpful, and the pub was fun and has a cozy ambiance and a good selection of drinks.
Fabulous little base for our family to explore Dorset including Lulworth Cove, the Tank Museum. We used the pool at blandford forum and our little ones loved it. It was clean and had everything we needed for our mon to fri stay. Oh and a very handy washing machine. Thank you.
This is a slightly old-fashioned hotel and I mean that as a compliment, not a criticism. It reflects the history and the character of the town in which it sits. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food was good and occasionally very good indeed.
the hotel is simply great, rooms are very roomy, clean and comfortable. The staff are very nice and helpful. hotel is situated next to all the facilities you need
I must like it as I’ve stayed over 15 times
What a beautiful place! So peaceful yet within 10 mins walk of Blandford Forum. Comfortable, spotless accommodation, amazing breakfasts (perfect poached eggs!) and really friendly hosts.
Very spacious 3 bedroom home in central Blandford. Its exactly that a home to relax in. On the main road out of Blandford close to all local facilities you need for self-catering.
It's a gem. Beautiful old building in a lovely setting. Very close to Blandford where my Family live. Staff are friendly yet professional. Food is exceptional.
