Ideally placed between the historic towns of Monmouthshire and Chepstow. Tintern is in the heart of the Wye Valley, and all of the attractions it has to offer.
Score from 137 reviews Fabulous
The hotel is nestled just below Symonds Yat Rock and stands exclusively in grounds of almost 5 acres, overlooking the river. It has terraced gardens of magnolia trees and a well established wisteria.
Score from 100 reviews Very good
In Gloucestershire’s Forest of Dean, Forest House and Bluebell Restaurant in Coleford offers elegant accommodation alongside high-quality dining.

Room was OK, expected more. paid for better than average, guess that's what we got.
Comfortable bed good blinds
Low roof banged head twice cob webs behind shower but overall was very happy with room
the food was superb, well presented. The decor was lovely and lots of attention to detail. Garden very pretty. A special place to stay.
Lovely clean, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast! Attended a wedding at Clearwell Castle, perfect location.
Liked almost everything. The location was beautiful. The refurbishment was carried out to a very high standard. We had the Loft which was spacious, spotless with lovely views and gardens
We found the service in dining room for breakfast and dinner very rushed. As soon as plate was clear, but not mouth, the plate was whipped away. We ordered a very nice wine only for it to turn up at table already in carafe, not having seen the bottle.Young staff not always sure what to do or say.
Tudor farmhouse is a little gem. It just what we needed to make a wet cycling adventure into a lovely break!
The food was absolutely delicious, but the waitress service didn't match the meal. Completely forgiven because she was very smiley and sweet, just not very knowledgable. Throw some bleach at the grouting in the shower of room 6.
Lovely room, with nice touches with espresso machine, biscuits and even milk in the fridge! Comfy and spacious bed, lovely bathroom with bathrobes and big towels. Breakfast was cooked to order and hot and very tasty! Nice pub next door, and lovely grounds, will definitely come again one day!
TV was a tad awkward to use but not an issue.
Sitting outside for breakfast in a colourful country garden
Unusual window configuration- small window at floor height and velux window was only window that opened - no good when raining as window over bed!!
Very comfortable room with high quality fixtures and fittings. Food in restaurant was excellent and staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Can't think of anything negative to say.
welcoming, friendly staff, excellent food (evening meal and breakfast)
VERY noisy floor on the landing to our room (and other rooms)
Great building, gardens. Excellent breakfast and service!
Bathroom and shower needs major upgrade. Parking seemed a tad scarce probably due to full occupancy?
Very well kept hotel All very clean and tidy including the grounds Very helpful staff Breakfast was excellent Great location Free parking
Wi Fi did not work in the attic rooms. Our room only had a shower. The food menu looked great. However as a group of four (with grown up children) it was too expensive for us to have dinner at the hotel.(Would have been about £170 with wine) Regretfully we had our meals elsewhere.
the food was amazing and did justify the expense
the room was dark though comfortable and well equipped but then it was a converted barn and the lighting was good.
everything - allowing parking near the gate - upgrade to a room closer to Reception and Dining Room - Beautifully appointed room - Philosophy of using local produce - can do attitude of staff ..NOTHING was impossible
that i couldn't stay longer
Relaxing place with really friendly and helpful staff. The food was very good.
TV control too complicated
We booked a room at 22:00hrs for next day. Asked if had any allergies on route any special requests. When arrived room minimal ventilation asked to be moved not a problem at all. New room perfect in every way. Food excellent dry special time was had. Thank you
As explained first room window only opened tiny way not much ventilation. Understand why but difficult in warm weather.
Village of Clearwell boasted 3 pubs and easy access to the Forest of Dean. One of the pubs sold excellent beer straight from the barrel at a really good price. Nice to go for a pre-dinner drink at the pub next door to the hotel.
Would have preferred a little more natural light in the room. We were in a converted barn, we had a tiny window and a velux. However the room was nicely furnished and quite comfy.
Décor is nice, modern country style and charming. Setting - lovely gardens and good walks around area, nice staff and good food.
The window in the room had been left closed prior to arrival, so the room (in the loft area) was sweltering and stuffy. The bathroom walls could use a good wash down.
We stumbled on this gem by accident and were glad we did. The food and atmosphere were fantastic.
Facilities, good quality food, excellent rooms and first class staff.
Good food and good location with helpful staff
Superior room no.7 over priced as not that big with just standard fittings, other than Jacuzzi fitting in bath, although bed was very comfortable. Would book again but opt for standard room .or the suite.
1. Breakfast was excellent! Best ive ever had! Especially with veggie sausage! 2. The homemade short bread & coffee facilities- fantastic! 3. Lovely soft clean bedding!
Being very picky as overall it was a lovely stay! 1.The shower head wasn't adjustable so you have no choice but to get your hair and face wet as it's position is permantly fixed high up on the wall. 2.Cream tea was lovely but very stingey on cream and jam. I asked for more and the lovely lady bought me some so it was easily rectified. 3. Not much choice for vegetarians on the dinner menu at all. 4. Two single beds pushed together to make our double bed- I kept falling between the gap in the middle!
Friendliness and willingness of staff. Quality fittings and furnishings. Wonderful weather allowing breakfasts in the pretty little garden. Food very good. Liked absence of set menus hence ability to choose according to hunger need. Very good vegetarian choices though heavily dependent on goat's cheese.
Minor point but could the bedroom blinds (room 14 in our case) have an intermediate fixing point so that the choice is not either fully open or fully closed.
The gardens were beautiful as was the decor in the hotel and rooms. Will be back again, had breakfast in the garden but looking forward to a glass of wine by the fire in the winter. My son lives in Cinderford and will be a regular visitor, can highly recommend the whole experience
