Dating back to the 16th century, Tudor House Hotel is on the edge of historic Tewkesbury, overlooking the Avon River. The magnificent building has a real ale bar and traditional restaurant. Rich in history, the Tudor House features exposed oak beams, open fireplaces and an original priest’s hole. There is also a secret garden, and an oak door with ax marks from Oliver Cromwell’s soldiers. The elegant bedrooms have private bathrooms and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a hairdryer, TV and free Wi-Fi access, and most have wonderful character features. Cromwell’s Real Ale Bar offers light snacks and beverages, and full English breakfasts are available daily. The Court Room restaurant serves a modern British menu in intimate surroundings. Situated on Tewkesbury High Street, The Tudor House Hotel is surrounded by scenic Gloucestershire countryside. There is free on-site parking, and Cheltenham is a 20-minute drive away. It was an extremely old and historic hotel, reputedly haunted. There was a very warm atmosphere in the bar where the staff and the locals made us feel extremely welcome.

The hotel is very well situated for all the amenities of the town and backs onto the canal & River,We found our overnite stay very pleasant with welcoming staff and a clean room, We had a nice meal at nice and a lovely english breakfast. We will definately stop here again if we are in the area, the only thing i can say was the service for our main meal at nite was rather slow

Central location, opposite the theatre. Tight entrance to the car park, which was full when we got there (but there is plenty of parking in the car park over the road)

Location for our visit to the Abbey, proximity of the river, the comfort of my single room ( it was not a cupboard, as singles often are ), the pleasantness of the staff, the delicious breakfast. Some difficulty with parking spaces, but overflow space available.

A really lovely atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming and friendly - nothing is too much trouble for them Its not a complaint at all but it would have been nice to have had a small table in the room to put our cups/glassses on when watching television

Fantastic location, bedroom was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable (although would benefit from new pillows). Ideally situated in the high street, with the river just behind and the amazing Abbey a short walk away. We love Tudor buidlings and were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and very welcoming. Breafast was also very good but would be even better if skimmed milk was available alongside full fat milk.

Comfort of rooms. Friendliness of staff. Standard of food (evening) Excessive waiting time for meals. For breakfast my wife ordere sausage and tomato. Maybe she should have asked for quantities as one sausage and half a tomato on the plate looked a little ridiculous.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well equiped. Both the food and the service were excellent for both dinner and breakfast. Easy central location in town made it easy to see the things we wanted to see. Would certainly stay again if visiting Tewksbury.

We liked it's old charm and character. Hope it doesn't lose that over time. Garden's could have been better kept. Perhaps a little attention needed there as with the patio area out the back of bar and restaurant.

Welcoming friendly staff. Room 7 was very lovely, large and comfortable. Ideal location for a stroll round Tewkesbury and the Abbey. An unusual negative for the time of year, but we were not sure where to eat as we were meeting friends who live in Tewkesbury for the evening. We met in the hotel bar and were so hot (really uncomfortably so) that we felt we couldn't have eaten in there so went else where.

Beautiful hotel building, loved the Knight in Armour on the staircase, very grand. Parking facilities were good. There was a revolting smell coming from the bathroom (Drain pipes/sewage). The person in charge offered us an alternative room, twin room not double. He completely understood that this was not practical because also our baby was asleep in cot so he cleaned the bathroom for us but every time we used the sink the smell returned so in the end we had to avoid using it. He told us to call Manager to discuss a part refund. I called and was really appalled with the Deputy Manager's attitude and outcome! When I explained the situation, her response was 'I will not be refunding any money' she said we had been offered an alternative room and we did not accept! I explained that we could not accept due to having a sleeping baby in his cot and the other room was not what we had booked (we were advised by hotel prior to booking to book double for the comfort of our stay with a baby) She seemed to think I should have woken our baby to move to the other room if we were not satisfied with the smell! She said it was early evening so this could have been done...it was 7pm, our child was asleep in cot!!! The man on duty dealing with us can prove this but she wasn't accepting anything I said. There was no apology from the start. She also said we had a discounted room that evening anyway....ok so because my room was discounted I deserve to be treated this way??!! She refused to believe I was actually told by a member of staff to call regarding part refund so I was only doing what was advised as he could understand how much disruption this had caused to our stay. Bad Management!!

Location good, though probably visited the hotel when it was quiet as the staff were very busy and service was therefore quite slow. Breakfast was good once the waitress realised we were in the dining room and came to help us out. Dinner was ok - if again the bar guests dominated the staff's interest and attention.
