Spacious, comfortable rooms considering the age of the building. Updated bathrooms. Friendly & helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Centrally located. They use motion sensitive lighting in the common areas around the rooms so you will likely walk into a dark hallway at some point, however, the lights will turn on within a few steps.
Due to the central location there was a fair amount of street noise and noise of people coming out of nearby pubs. No onsite parking, however, guests are able to use a car park a short walk from the hotel.
It is central and convenient.
Macerater on WC. Unpleasant odour to the room.
Staff were great, room lovely, beds so comfy.....
Inter net access very poor
The building, excellent breakfast
Noise from street, but was not much of a problem later on.
Service was very good friendly staff
The shower in the room was not good room clean and tidy
Staff Historical nature of hotel Location Breakfast
Lovely beamed room with a four poster bed plus a single bed. Plenty of space and a sofa. Very good breakfast.
It was rather noisy outside but any town would be on a Saturday night.
Didn't have our booking. Rooms odd!
Staff were very friendly and helpful Breakfast Central if you need to be in town
The noise from the pub below until 2am...then the noise in the street after the pub shut. We visited in July so needed the windows open. Avoid room 5 if you want to get any sleep.
Staff were excellent! Bed comfortable Room big and extremely clean Shower was amazing
No car park, quite a walk from the allocated parking to the hotel
staff were amazing.helpfull and friendly. food was very good and reasonably priced as was the drinks . rooms were spotless . hotel is full of character as you would expect from a 350 year old building. unable to understand why people moan about creaking floorboards . if you want chrome and stainless steel go to a travelodge' loaction is fantastic.no on
no onsite parking ,,but left car in british legion car park for 2 days and made a contrabution to the charity box. very acceptable .
friendly staff and central to town good breakfast
no parking or unloading facility
The staff were very friendly, and the food was excellent.the rooms were lovely, like stepping back in time ,with all the exposed beams etc.i would highly recommend this hotel.
Extremely comfortable bed. Friendly manager.
Parking. I parked in the Lidl carpark, about 10 mintues walk away which would have been bad if it was raining and I had a lot of luggage. Once there, I found there is a free carpark 2 minutes away. this needs to be included in the website.
It was very old and interesting - food good and staff friendly
the walls were very thin and we could easily hear the people in the next room even though they weren't noisy. an extra blanket would have been good - I woke up cold
Food good and staff very friendly, responsive and helpful. Excellent central location for shops, pubs, restaurants etc.
No staff member on premises overnight - little bit concerning. Didn't like the cheap plastic mattress covers - kept coming adrift and bunching up on the bed.
Staff very helpful and accomodating
Bar/lounge/dining and bedroom lacking in ambience and style. No need for tacky artificial flowers in bedroom. Would pay more for a nicer place
Good welcome though Booking.com or the Hotel didn't seam to have communicated our booking anyway we produced the booking confirmation and it was sorted - Wonder what would have happened if the Hotel had been full ??? Coffee, tea and biscuit selection in the room better than a 5 star hotel in Dorking we had recently stayed in . Breakfast excellent and meal in the evening not bad either .All staff very friendly . Clean and tidy room and bed very comfortable .Close to shops and town centre Would use it again
Our room was fun to get to but it is an old building . Not sure they had a lift .Not a complaint but just something to be aware of if mobility was a problem . Decor it is what is is and Tudor buildings don't lend themselves to perfectly straight lines . Car park some 150 yds away and no place really to park outside while you unload .These are not moans just observations .
handy for town, good breakfast, good staff
The tasty breakfast with plenty of tea and coffee. A nice clean bathroom and comfortable room. The pleasant and friendly staff.
Friendly helpful staff Good breakfast with quick service
Bed a bit too soft
Had originally booked for 2 nights, but wer informed on arrival that hotel would be closed on the sunday so no food/ drinks available, so decided to move on !! Food was fine, but some facilities wer a bit dated, it served it's purpose.
WIFI poor No Sunday opening
linen was clean and smelt lovely
The room we were in number 1. was noisy, I mean the actual room was noisy, as in floorboards and anywhere you moved would creak, the wardrobe didn't close properly and we couldn't open window easily breakfast was poor quality food, looked and tasted like a banger rather than a good sausage dusty shelf inside wardrobe
