a relief compared with the (int)hotel chains. Real English atmosphere with high foodstandard and luxury. Go for the luxury room, it is absolutely worth the money.

The staff were excellant as was the breakfast. The rooms were chalet style around an internal courtyard which I would imagine is very attractive in spring and summer, I stayed following this years snow and it was dark when I arrived and left. Bathroom perfectly adequate although large people may find it on the small side. Even tho the central heating was good they had also placed a small fan heater in the room before our arrival so it was a great welcome. It was very quiet when we stayed only one other guest. It was not expensive so was good value for money.

The room was comfortable and the breakfast was good . The outside of the hotel was shabby and it was not open when we arrived. There was only one member of staff who was preparing the rooms and serving the drinks. Breakfast was only from 8 until nine and as we had all been to a family party and had not got back until late was over before one of our party got up. No concession was made and not even a fresh cup of tea or coffee available. Sunday breakfast is usually available until 10 at least. They were up at 9.15 The rooms were not ready but the woman doing everything did her best and was very pleasant..

Bathroom The whole place is tatty in need of money spent on it the first we saw the building we thought it was closed down ,all the plants in tubs were dead ,bird food spilled over the floor outside the reception and the rooms a haven for rats . breakfast on Sunday 8 til 9 but no indication of this in the room hence no breakfast as we were late and no reduction at £140 a ripoff.A new complex shower but no instruction .....

C15 coaching inn with lots of original features. Room had huge modern bathroom and very comfortable bed. Food was generous and well prepared. Staff friendly and helpful. Right on the A!, but didn't hear the traffic from our room. Pity that such a beautiful building was so under used. Needs some love!

Although first appearances did not bode well, dark and gloomy, run down and outside could do with a spring clean. As the weekend went on the place grew on us and we actually liked the hotel. It was different in a nice way. The staff though were fabulous and would compare with any five star hotel for service, help and about their their tasks with a chuckle in their shoes! Outside looked tired and driving upbto the building in the car ark, almost derelict.

The one member of staff we dealt with was polite and friendly, but that was the only saving grace of staying at Tudor Oaks. Everything - we arrived to what looked like a dilapidated hotel that had been shut down, and bore no resemblence to the website information that led me to book a room. I will be writing to the hotel in due course.

Went there with a party of friends who was all meeting up for a re-union after 20 years. The Hotel team were by far the friendliest and most accomodating and bent over backwards for our needs at every request (mainly at un-sociable hours also). Special thanks to the manager (Lucy) who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend...amazing energy and with a permanent and warm smile and personality. Maybe a bit dated but perfect for group get togthers.

The outside of the hotel is quite tatty and the signage to find it, it is literally 50m on the lhs off the a1, is non existant but once found and insider it is a delight. The bar and restaurant are comfortable and the lady on duty in the evening was delightful. The real ale was a treat and the Sea Bass was to die for. The breakfast was also very good. Going into the motel style bedroom around the inside courtyard, which also could do with a little tlc, was like walking into a Tardis. It has obviously been recently refurbished to a high standard with top quality furniture and a lovely bathroom. It was also nice to have a fan heater as the central heating is not on at this time of the year. Forget the Premier Inns and Travel Lodges. Live a little and try here!! The hot water on the washhand basin is the opposite to usual I.E. turn right for hot water and you have to leave it and the shower running for an age but hot water does eventually come through.

I booked myself and my girlfriend in for one night as my friend was getting married nearby. Having paid £75 for the night i was greeted by an empty carpark which looked so run down it didn't make me feel very confident. It was expensive, run down (to the point it looked like a nuclear bomb had landed on it) and expensive... i was extremely dissappointed given the cost and the previous comments.... i wouldn't stay there again unless i was really stuck
