A warm welcome awaits you at this privately owned 4-star hotel, a fully restored and refurbished Victorian mansion house situated on Ayr's seafront, recapturing the essence of country house...
Score from 147 reviews Excellent
Close to Ayr seafront and a few feet from the center of town, Mercure Ayr is a comfy hotel with swimming pool, bath spa, gym and a "Full Swing" golf simulator.
Score from 369 reviews Good
Staff were very welcoming and helpful as I was travelling with two small children on my own. Food in the bar and breakfast were both excellent.
I found the bed quite uncomfortable, very hard. Outdoor plays pace for children would be great.
Lovely selection at breakfast. View from bedroom was great.Decor a bit dated for 5 star hotel, though overall comfy room.
Wasn't told about the long walk and steep stairs from upgraded room at spa area.wouldnt have paid the extra 50pounds for upgrade if I had known this as I have angina problems.
Great location, friendliness of staff and style of the hotel.
Cobwebs in the reception, pen marks in menus and walls in the room - especially a five star - It is the final touches that make a hotel. I am proud of Trump Turnberry and I want people to come from all over the world and say it is the best and faultless.
Nice location Lobby area nice convenience to golf course
room rates very high and yet 1 room dirty with broken air conditioning and other room (classic) had no a/c which- for the cost, is ridiculous. Reported to front desk and air did not get fixed in room ostensibly with it until 2nd day of 2 day stay. Spa facilities (for golf widow) poor. Facility itself is worn down (even its members were complaining in the locker room)... no brushes, razors etc.. Biggest issue is staffing. When check in you are given a key and told to wander around- you'll find the lockers, pool, relaxation room. Unacceptable for destination resort prices.
Everything. An amazing place
Food was okay. Would not put it more than that
Location, the room was perfectly acceptable
Food and service in restaurant very poor as it has been on the last 2 occasions. It is such a shame that someone (perhaps Donald??) does not bring this hotel into the same league as Gleneagles. Not the standard of a 5 star luxury hotel.
Hotel entrance, lobby areas, restaurant and bar all superb, as well as the bar/cafe in the Clubhouse. The view from the hotel is breathtaking and the golf facilities excellent.
Room, although very good, probably needs upgraded soon. Spa facilities could also do with an upgrade although pool very nice.
Corridor floors were squeaky
Wonderful breakfast. Very comfortable room. Nice spa.
Just love, love, love it! All wonderful!
Food and drinks a bit too expensive but suppose it is 5star. Hope prices don't go up anymore with latest takeover.
Everything except the 1 thing below.
The shape & size of the pool, only 1 sauna plus the spa bath was out of order.
Comfort, room size
Breakfast was average
Service and environment in the hotel.
Nothing major but if I was being picky at over £150 a night fast broadband access should be free.
Comfortable and special
Found it hard to find a comfortable place to dry my hair in room. Surprisingly
The view ,breakfast was sumptuous ,bed was superbly comfortable.
Lovely food and cocktails in the Ailsa Bar. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Noisy children in the spa pool
My family and I have been going to the Turnberry for over ten years, if you have never been put it on your list of places you must visit, amazing location, good food and a warm welcome awaits you
Slightly late room readiness
Staff reaction to the delay
The staff who went the extra mile to find my husband a replacement pair of spectacles after he broke his reading glasses.
1The tasteless coffee after Sunday lunch. 2The intrusive call asking if I wanted a later check out time. 3The break in tv transmission at the start and end of STRICTLY on Sunday night. Woz some1 avin a larf?
Room Service. Spa. Breakfast Menu. Room.
Complimentary slippers were too small. Dressing gowns were too small.
