The friendliness of the staff who showed an interest in their guests. Nothing was too much and they were only too willing to offer advice where necessary. My room was comfortable and clean. I shall certainly return to this hotel when visiting my family and friends in East Lothian and have already recommended it to them.

The food was very good. The breakfast on the first day was excellent, however on the second day the breakfast was a bit overcooked and greasy. The decor is a bit tired, and because the heating was on a timer, the room could ber quite cold.

Superb friendly and attentive staff. Food was wonderful and not overpriced. Room was clean, neat and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. We got a key to the front door and could come and go as we pleased. The heating could have been better. Left on for longer periods of time perhaps? Not a lot of hot water, but the shower worked fine.

The staff were very welcoming and very helpful. The Tweeddale Arms looks very dated, the room in which we stayed in was very basic, the room was furnished without much thought .In the lounge where we had our breakfast there was two holes above the bar. The hotel in general needs alot of money spent on it,to bring it up to date with other hotels. You can see the hotel has not been decorated by a professional and by doing this makes it look alot worse. If the hotel was brought up to date im sure the hotel would be more busy.

Friendly staff and peaceful village setting. Comfortable and clean accommodation. Good food and table service. Overall, good value for money. As others have stated, the decor could be better but the new owners seem to have plans to improve over a period of time and I would certainly like to return, maybe next year. Whilst the setting in Gifford is good, perhaps the East Lothian Council should be prompted to improve the signing for Gifford, (and The Tweeddale Arms?), (not all guests have satnav) travelling from the south such as via the A68. Also, the old style black and white sign in the village centre is a nice touch but it could do with some refurbishment, which is clearly long overdue, not least in the interests of road safety. (For example, some letters were white on a white background!)

We thought it was a lovely location looking over the village green. Nice and peaceful and very relaxing. Just what we were looking for. The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome. Nothing was a bother to them, The Hotel was Lovely and the rooms were very comfortable . We had a meal there and it was very good with a good choice on the menu. The breakfast was also very good and also with a good choice, the cooked breakfast was a good plateful, perfect for a hearty appetite. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice old building Decor a bit tired, wallpaper falling off in the room. For £10 more we could have stayed in a 5* hotel 5 miles up the road.
