A staff member (older lady) was severe to say the least - impatient & grumpy - part of our group not native English speakers - she was intolerant
loved the log fire and cider on tap with real english food
Location Ambience of bar/restaurant pleasant staff
Gluten free book on ingredients but it stated soya sauce, which was in a lot of dishes, was gluten free which it is not. Windows outside need painting. Poor lighting in bedroom
The Four Poster Room we had was very clean and comfortable. Stayed here before and the staff are happy and good at what they do.
Waiting for food in the restaurant, took a while to arrive and wasn't very hot. Maybe need more staff?
homely atmosphere nice staff attitude (they even bought soy milk specifically for me) cosy feeling nice rooms good position beautiful countryside
doors closing automatically with noise
Fantastic location in the beautiful village of Chippefield. Lovely room, huge double bed, extremely comfy. Excellent facilities. Superb restaurant with extensive menu. Very helpful and friendly staff. We arrived later than expected, restaurant was very busy, but staff still found us a table, cannot fault this hotel.
A minor glitch, we stayed in room 204 on our first stay and had a disrupted nights sleep due to the air movement fan making an excessive noise, which we reported to staff in the morning.
Food was good. When we eventually got some.
Arriving on a dark and wet evening after a long drive. There was no warm welcome from the hotel reception, once I eventually found the reception. The staff member was far from helpful and when I asked if they had a table for a meal he seemed very reluctant to help out. I think they should keep a couple of tables for residents, or at least advise of booking a table on reservation. Will not be going back again.
Willingness to help of Jamie on arrival. Location. Size of bed.
Poor lighting! Coldness of corridors. Lack of staff at breakfast, I had to ask to be served cooked breakfast.
location: easy check in
not enough light in the room...reading was very difficult. the continental breakfast was very poor
Location was pleasant and quiet. Old and characterful building. Well-stocked bar. Comfortable beds and good-sized rooms. Dinner was quite good when it finally arrived.
Almost an hour wait after ordering dinner. Dining tables had not been wiped properly (could have done with table-cloths). Coffee at breakfast time was disgusting - tepid and weak - and there was no orange juice. One young, pleasant waitress at breakfast was struggling to keep up. No organization in dining-room and really could do with some management.
Location, food, rooms
Car park could do with some more lighting at night
We have been staying here for the last three months in the week before moving into our new home.the Staff are incredibly welcoming friendly and relaxed and we have felt completely at home here. Nothing is too much trouble. The location is fantastic and there are some really beautiful walks straight from the hotel, over the common, through the woods and along lovely footpaths. Perfect for families.
Poor wifi/mobile reception
The bed was extremely comfortable and i had an amazing night sleep
Bathroom was quite cramped and wasn't completely clean
A truly atmospheric, historical 18th century inn, oozing plenty of character, in a village location next to a common green. The staff are warm and welcoming. It has everything in one place: accommodation, lounge area, breakfast room, evening restaurant, and a pub bar to end the evening. It also has a dedicated car park to the rear. Overall a lovely place to stay!
The only downside were the bed mattresses not giving enough support overnight, but we were assured by the manager it would be resolved as soon as possible, and we were given a reduction on our fees for the inconvenience.
I had a great stay at the two Brewers , next time I come to visit family in Watford I'll be staying there.
The friendliness of the staff. Particularly excellent service at breakfast.
everything was very good - food was good - staff were very pleasant
Fire alarm going off premature
the room was clean and functional, my husband is disabled we found the bath a good depth for him to get into for a shower, and he appreciated the grab rail in the shower.
The room was fine and had a good level of cleanliness. Good value for money
The restaurant and bar area were in desperate need of a good clean and there was a lack of organisation
Hotel staff trying. Location.
Understaffed Restaurant, staff under trained, service not in line with expectations, food whilst tasty, kitchen could not deal with the large number of customers, so simple things like, actually crisping the roast supposedly duck greased potatoes, were not being achieved. Wine glasses not clean, wine not opened or offered to taste. Water in short supply. Table cleaned with less than clean cloth.Road noise in morning. Room doors slam shut, no spring loading. Common areas of the hotel, a bit more worn than they should be.
Great pub. Good food. Loverly staff it's a very loverly pub/ hotel
Their Wi Fi is a bit hit and miss but workable.
Venue, setting, food, staff,
Great food & beer Staff friendly Village atmosphere
Only slight niggle - our room had a noisy vent in bathroom
Countryside was lovely, staff worked very hard, food was fantastic, beds comfy and we really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.
They couldn't find the key to our room (?) so upgraded us to a better alternative which was very pleasant.
Their credit card machine wasn't working - or had been for a number of days allegedly. All a bit mickey mouse...
