Room was v.good & restaurant was good too.
Unfortunately the bed wasn't a Hypnos so was just about okay.
Nice quiet location fairly close to stations & main roads. 'Oldy worldy' charm.
Helpfulness of staff on arrival and at checkout Atmosphere of the place, and for us, familiarity Comfortable rooms
Good all round
Mobile network access very poor.
Everything was acceptable
Uncomfortable bed - too hard Food was just OK
Room, comfort, good food, friendly staff.
The only fault I found was a lack of easily accessible soap in the shower and poor shower pressure
No signal Spider in room Breakfast not good
Location opposite cricket green in village. Deluxe double room was very spacious with huge bed. Good value for money bed & breakfast (choice of anything from breakfast table as well as full English breakfast).
Food a little over priced for quantity you received in restaurant.
A stunning location! Liked the way the rooms are well away from the bar area so that there is no disturbance. Lovely and quiet. Really nice genuine and helpful staff.
Really lovely homely place only down side couldn't book table for dinner before we went out as extremely busy. But breakfast was lovely
Very authentic, excellent food from the hotel restaurant in the evening, excellent waiting staff.
We were a little disappointed with the continental breakfast, only croissants provided, no muffins or crumpets as detailed in the menu. Not enough crockery was available for everyone, had to wait some time for cups to be brought out.
nice big room, quiet location, pub food very good, well situated near London (and just 10 minutes drive to the Harry Potter Studio Tour!)
We stayed for one night and the stay was great! Easy to check in and check out. The room was great, warm and had good storage space for those who would be staying longer. We only stayed overnight as the next day we were going to the Warner Brothers tour. The hotel was in a GREAT location for this, it was so easy to get to from here. The staff were friendly and when we asked if we needed to book a table to dinner as it was INCREDIBLY busy, the staff member said we are busy but I can still fit you in. Although every table was full, we expected a long long wait for food however it came out very quickly! I can't fault anything with this place at all, easy to get to and just an overall lovely night stay.
Perfectly positioned on the edge of the Common
Price of the drinks
Beautiful setting with village green and so close to other attractions - we visited Harry Potter World which was 10 mins away. Despite a busy pub, our room wasn't noisy. Nice features to the pub.
The online booking didn't include my nephew (not easy to use), so we incurred an additional charge. We had dinner and due to it being extraordinary hot weather, we wanted to dine in the pub garden (about 6pm) but were told we couldn't because they were short staffed in the kitchen, but then someone complained and they were allowed to. This was a shame on such a beautiful evening.
The room was comfortable and the location was quiet
The water pressure was very poor so the shower painful. Overall I felt that for the price paid, the experience was quite poor
Good food Great value for money Friendly staff Lovely location Beautiful room Very comfortable Lovely scenery
Nothing to dislike
The hotel itself was lovely, our room(double deluxe) was clean, a good size, lovely bed and decor, with a good selection of tea and coffee. The bar was lovely and majority of the staff we're friendly and helpful.
We arrived early evening to be told that we did not have a booking...after checking again, we we're told that our key had been given to a family member who was staying in another room. In actual fact, they had been given our room! We went down for dinner only to be told that the kitchen was closed for the evening, we had only booked that morning so we're not happy. A staff member managed to book us a restaurant which we were pleased about after all the hassle. We spoke to the manager in the morning about the mix up, he did apologise but didn't understand why we weren't happy about our experience. It was resolved in the end, however it was very disorganised to begin with.
Character of building. Good room size. No traffic noise.
Bathroom extractor on all night was noisy (room 204).
Beautiful room, in a very cosy hotel. Dinner was excellent, friendly staff.
The location was oustanding. So close to London and yet so much countryside. 20 mins to Leavesden and the Harry Potter studio. Easily could have stayed two more days just to explore the surrounding woodland and village. The quality and size of the rooms was ideal for our family needs. The sofabed was fine for our 8 year old. The blinds and the thick curtains cut out the light from the carpark. Breakfast selection was very good and especially considerate towards the children. The staff took interest in the children's day and made them feel like special guests as well.
The spring matrass, it felt a little hard and the bed was not very long. I am only 5'5" and when stretched out at night my feet went over the end. The sound of other people's TV's could be heard in the room, but this might have been an exceptionally hard of hearing guest. We could hear the heating boiler (or something similar) coming on/charging up, so maybe we were located next to it, as this was only a problem in room 104 and not in room 106.
We arrived later than planned after car hire delays at Heathrow. Kitchen was closed but the reception clerk made us sandwiches - no charge. Staff friendly and helpful. Delightful setting - walk on the common before a hearty English breakfast.
Location value & a great bar and restaurant
Nothing to dislike
Easy access to M25 but a little rural idyll, English village green.
