The room was amazing. Clean, big, and everything we needed plus more. Great service when it came to checking in / out and at meal time. There were no menus in the folder in the room so we had to go back to reception to request one. Also the hotel advertised wi-fi which I never picked up.

Nice surrounding, friendly and helpful staff and good hearty food. Rooms were a bit old fashioned and beds not the most comfortable.

Comfy armchairs in my room. Sticky dining table top - furniture looked tired & shabby. Garden ashtrays needed emptying.

The hotel was very well situated for the Brecon National park and well away from the main roads. Rooms need updating and redecorating we stayed in the peny fan suite which was very dark, delivery lorries were very noisey first thing in the morning at the front of the building which our room overlooked.

This was our third visit but there was little to like this time.Sadly we will not return We were given a small bedroom suitable for one person occupancy .but initially charged the higher rate ,the one for standard double room.So there were issues from the outset. The hotel was not busy so why they chose to give us a single person room is inexplicable. We asked to move and were given a large family room. The window could not be openned because of smoke from the the hotel boiler chimney immediately beside it.Woodsmoke is fine but not in the bedroom.Once again we had to be moved. We ended up in another family room which was ok.Restaurant was soulless with no effort to arrange the table attractively eg tablecloth,There were questions about the final bill, Altogether a pretty shabby experience for our fourtyfifth wedding anniversary.I Left exhausted.

The staff could not have done more for us. I am totally deaf, lipread and speak fairly well, and had no problems at all. The food was very good indeed except for rock hard toast with pate at the bar, soon rectified with fresh toast. The mattress on our bed in Room 27 really needed replacement, it was a trifle lumpy and low in the middle so that we constantly rolled downhill together. Ok for 29 years of age but not at 79! The wet bathroom was marvellous but had no shelves, hooks or niches to put toilet bags, spectacles etc. Sadly most hotel rooms are like that! But overall we'd give it 99% pass marking! We attended an 80 th birthday party. Many of us were deaf. Really provision needs to be made for communication when the room door is shut like flashing lights, vibrating buzzers, etc but this applies to all hotels.

The rooms were spacious, well decorated and clean. There was a good choice of food at breakfast time and the restaurant was excellent. The lounge area smelt very 'clinical'. The bar area could do with 'cheering up'.

Great country hotel. Great food, great service BUT very uncomfortable old old beds. The beds were so old that when we requested a change of bed we went through at least 6 bedrooms just to find a comfortable bed. Settled for something reasonably comfortable but still very old and not double. Bit of a let down for such a lovely country hotel in a great location....only 15 mims to the spectacular Brecon Beacons. Beds very old and small!!

We found the room to be very spacious, well decorated, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The waiting staff in the restaurant were extremely pleasant and very well groomed. The chamber staff were also very pleasant. The dinner menu was really well priced and portions were substantial. Breakfast was most satisfying. Breakfast finished a little early.

Wonderful staff, very clean, comfortable and spacious room. Beautiful scenery. A very relaxing and pleasant break. Very good restaurant. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended! Not really a negative point, nothing to dislike, just a comment: it's a bit tricky to get to the hotel without a car. We've planned to cycle there from Merthyr Tydfil, but the roads were too busy for inexperienced cyclists like us, so in the end we took a taxi. Buses in the area won't take bikes on board.

Nice surroundings and courteous staff. I have stayed at this hotel before and was on the previous occasion given a much better room. The room I was given was small with poor fixtures. Wobbly wardrobe, wobbly table, no where to use my lap top (Nothing to stand it on), TV on an angle, tired decor etc. It felt so claustrophobic I opened the window only to have it filled with cigarette smoke from the people outside. This wasn't a double room within any scope of the imagination.

Lovely weather when we stayed helped show the hotel at its best - I had a lovely sunny bedroom at the front of the hotel. My bathroom looked a bit tired and had no window
