Hyde Park Court Hotel48 Norfolk Square, Paddington, Paddington, W2 1RT London (Show map) Review score 5.7 Score from 360 reviews“Location, location, location! Nextdoor to Paddington station but not in the immidiate surroundings that are busy but a bit to the side next to the Paddington basin. However easy to reach from the Heathrow Express and many tube stations.”

I was a bit worried since this place gets mixed reviews, but we got a lovely room on the first floor. The room was facing the street, but since it is a quiet area this was no problem regarding noise from the street. The room had big south facing windows, so lots of light and easy to get some fresh air. Room was quite big for London, and the bed was nice and big as well, comfy and with a real duvet. Bathroom was nice and clean shower and plenty of towels, soaps etc. We did not use the hotel breakfast restaurant but bought bread, fresh fruit, yoghurt etc. from the nearby shops. There is a big organic supermarket just 2-300 meters from the hotel and also lots of other shops (Tesco, Sainsbury's, M&S Food +more). There are coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Location is really convenient, close to Bayswater, Queensway and Paddington Tube stations. Hyde Park is a 5 minute walk away, and we also walked to Portobello Road. Just behind the hotel is a Barclay's bicycle hire station. Brilliant concept - pay £1 per bike pr. day and after that you just take out a bike, drive to whereever you are going and leave it at another docking station. The docking stations are all over town, and if you use the bike 30 minutes or less, it is free. This was a perfect way for us to explore the city and avoid the sometimes congested tube. Maps of all the docking stations are available at Tourist Informations. Whiteley's shopping mall is just 200 meters from the hotel. It's a quiet place but has some of the high street shops, a cinema, restaurants etc. A nice place. We also went to a very popular Persian restaurant, Anoulak, just next to the organic supermarket. Very popular, so we had to queue, but absolutely worth it and very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again. internet access was weak

early responses to questions with 1 minor glitch. the people were professional in every way. it was clean up to date, small but thats London. but it was described acurately. Worth the Money??? all in all everything was excellent. would i recommend a stay. Yes would i stay there again, yes it was a good stay, very helpful and understanding front deskowners and personel. they are trying and thats good. thats the makings of good ownership. I had to climb like 6 floors to get to my room.

Nothing much to write home about, simply a fairly reliable low budget hotel in the area. Staff are helpful, and the location helps (three minutes walk from Paddington). Everything else is really just a factor of getting what you pay for - which isn't much. Requested quiet room but was put up in a noisy ground floor room. Was relocated after first night. Also, one of the first rooms I was offered had an unbearable stench coming from cleaning liquids in the bathroom. The bathrooms aren't simply small (and so definitely won't accomodate large people) - they are in fact smaller than the cubicle toilets you get in airplanes. Also, in fact the bathrooms *are* plastic cubicles - yes, made of plastic, with wooden doors. You can't sit on the toilet without the shower curtain in your face etc. The rooms themselves are also really small, there is hardly any space to spread out your belongings. The tv in the room is also small - about 30 x 20 cm. You get the picture - everything is small here. Breakfast is okayish, but (way) worse than what you get at local youth hostels. - Really, the only difference to a youth hostel is a) good location and b) not sharing a dorm. You make the call whether that's worth paying the difference. - Final piece of advice: rooms booked in advance are actually allocated on a first come first serve policy. If you arrive early in the day you have a better chance to get relocated to a nice room. If you arrive late, you will get the rooms that all the other guests rejected (for reasons such as stated above).

ONly the location. I didn't like anything at the hotel!!!! At the website it seems that the hotel is a little bit more confortable. When I arrived at the hotel, the guys gave me the keys of a room with 2 single beds. And I was with my husband, and at the website, I've booked to get a "couple bed." The staff is almost all INDIAN and do not speak english very good. They do not know almost nothing about the city, and ask us (guests) every time to look at the internet. The breakfast is terrible!! Strong smell of fat, a limp and cold bread, a coffee that is more similar with tea than coffee. The toilet was terrible. A fat person never would use that. It is so small, that me which have 55kgs could not move into the toilet. I really hated that hotel and will never come back again!! Much less to recommend to someone. Tks Debora Freitas

Really close to everything, staff are helpful with directions, nice continental - not english - breakfast. Staff aren't very talkative or overly welcoming. At first we were given two single bedrooms, but after they nicely changed it for us we had to walk up six or seven flights of stairs to get there. Bathroom is unbelievably small, but then I guess you get what you pay for.

The price And location of this hotel is very good. You are only 5mins walk away from Hyde park and paddington tube. Although the rooms were quite small they were still clean and if you arrive at this hotel knowing the rooms will be small then you have a pleasant stay as your expectations have not been raised to expect a large room. On the whole hotel was fantastic, location fantastic lots of shops nearby serving all day breakfast. Also the area is very nice for the image you have of London of cobbled street etc on the whole was a pleasant stay and throughly enjoyed the trip. The water could of been hotter and there was hardly any water pressure.

Nothing at all complete nightmare! Room was freezing cold so I had to sleep in my clothes there was a faulty heater though which was covered in a thick layer of fluff. All around the room they had stuffed tissue between skirting boards and carpet to stop draughts the tv didnt work had to have it fixed the next day so no tv for first night the en suite shower room was disgusting and even colder than the actual room there was no way i was having a shower in there unless i wanted to get pneumonia. this place in no better than a hostel but i would imagine there are better hostels

Every staff member was always friendly and courteous. Althought the rooms were on the small side they where comfy and clean. They were cleaned every day with fresh towels. It's very close to paddington station which I found handy for catching the heathrow express as well as using the tube. There were also many food places around. This was a lovely hotel to stay in. I'd highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are quite small but I didn't find this to be a very big problem at all.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Satisfactory breakfast, option to leave the luggage on reception after checking out... You get what you pay for. It is really cheap (considering the location) so do not expect any luxury. But for young people who love to explore the city, I wouldn´t reccomend any other place to stay for this price! Unbelievably cramped room. Seriously, I´ve never seen such a small bathroom in my life. Not even when I was on a boat trip. If you suffer from claustrophobia, you won´t last in this hotel for 5 minutes! The other thing - when we arrived, the heating was off. I had to ask the staff at the reception to be so kind and turn it on. Then I had to ask them the same on the next day, as they turn it off again. In cold january. But it didn´t spoil our stay at the hotel and we would gladly book it next time when are around.

It is not as descibed, it is dirty and antiqated, unsuited to anyone but the fully fit, the fire escape is not adequate. We bought new bedding to sleep on and left a day early. Foreign travellers staying there asked me if other hotels in the uk were as poor as this.

The rooms was spacious and the en-suite was good. The breakfast staff were friendly. The breakfast food was budget and there was no tv remote (even after being given 3 to try). The reception staff kept turning my radiator off and I had to keep asking every evening for them to turn it on On the last night an American resident kept my awake until 4am with his loud talking, so it would appear the walls are thin.!

If you are looking for a 5 stars hotel, this place is not for you... But I was impressed by the kindness of the staff and by the good price for a hotel so near to the center... Probably (if I still don't have a lot of money) I'll go another time in this hotel! Thanks guys! The room is a little bit dirty

Excellent location; helpful staff Extremely small room, actually too small for two people. There was no room for luggage to be opened except on the bed, for example. This may be the standard for this class hotel in London, but it was a surprise for us.

The Location was just fantastic, so near the tube station approx 4 mins walk from Lancaster Gate Tube station & paddington station, 2 stops from Oxford Street and 3 stops in the other direction from Westfield Shopping Centre. we were on a shopping trip so we could easily pop back to the hotel and drop off the bags and head straight back out shopping, The staff were very friendly and helpful,The room was reasonably sized and very clean, it was quiet and the breakfast was perfect. I would totally reccomend this hotel,

Nice staff, ok breakfast, small room and bathroom but clean and since we didn´t stay in the room all day this was not a problem. Close to subway. A good hotel for a good price. The main bed was way to hard, I slept in it the first night and woke up several times during the night with a lot of pain in my hips and back. The other two nights I shared bed with my daughter, I could not have slept another night in the main bed.

It's location which is quite close to Paddington tube station. Rooms are too small. Toilet is extra small but shower had very good flow and pressure of water. Breakfast is very very basic with very few items on offer..
