A large room (room 1) pleasantly lit and heated on arrival. Shower was good and simple to operate. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk supplies and two packets of biscuits each day. Quiet room, even though it looked out directly on to the road at ground level, but loud noise from adjoining room's bathroom fan was annoying at times. A good breakfast with do it yourself toast but menu on the table would help one to know what constitutes a full breakfast and what else is on offer. Overall very good value accommodation and a central location between Alton Towers and Tamworth. There was no litter bin in the bedroom which meant everything, including tea bags and used milk pots, had to go in the bathroom pedal bin. The bed was hard, (although I think this might just have been my own judgement), so as I was alone I used the duvet off the spare bed as a mattress topper, and it was then comfortable The waitress at breakfast was rather abbrupt in manner and forgot to take my drink order at breakfast one morning so I had to ask her for coffee.

We stayed at this hotel a few months ago and loved it, hence why we decided to stay again. It changed owners last month and since we were last here it has dratically gone downhill. The only good thing about it was how close we were to Alton Towers. When we got to our room it wasn't the cleanest of rooms. There were hairs all over the bed and the floors were dirty and looked like they could have been done with getting a good hoover. As it was just a place to put our heads we didn't complain. When we went for breakfast the following morning we got to help ourselves to cereal while we waited on our cooked breakfast. When we got our cooked breakfast we then got to help ourselves to toast. Unfortunately the bread that was put out for guests was mouldy and put us off the rest of our breakfast. We stayed here for 2 nights and on the morning we were leaving there was absolutely no hot water for a shower. When we complained about it the owner said oh well the person in the room next door must've left the tap running and that it wasn't their problem. The first time we stayed here we lovde it but since there has been a change of owners it has changed dramatically and we would not stay here again!

It was a wonderful place and the room was beautiful. There was a very comfortable double bed with cushions, pillow and quilt- not the usual thin sheets you find in hotels these days. We had a TV and coffee/tea facilities- including decaff which I loved because not many places offer that and its all I can drink! The rooms were warm and cosy. Our towels were folded up neatly, and our bed was re-made on our return saturday night. I nipped into our room to put the heater on before going into the inn to eat on saturday as it had been a bit chilly to find that it had already been done! The room was lovely and toasty warm- such a thoughtful gesture. Breakfast was included in our room price and there was toast, cereal and a lovely fried breakfast on offer both mornings. The bathroom was a nice size and very clean, as was the rest of our room and the inn overall. Free wifi in our room and inn, and we were able to park our car right outside our room. The only small problem was the signal for the TV- it kept freezing up on both nights. Still, these things can't always be helped and I'm sure the weather didn't help much (it was very windy and wet).

Excellent value. Quality breakfast. Quiet rooms separate from the pub. Convenient location for town and travel. Warm welcome. Embarrassment when leaving because it was not made clear when booking that no payment has been taken, although credit card details were required. I thought that I had already paid, and so, it seems do most of the other visitors to the pub. The problem is with booking.com.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As a young couple we were going to Alton Towers so we only need a place to put our heads down for two nights. When we got here we got more than we were expecting. The room was more than big enough and was very clean. The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was superb. We enjoyed a nice meal in the lounge, the food was cooked to perfection. This was definitely value for money. We have already booked to return in October.

Staff very friendly breakfast excellent .Tea/coffee making facilty great .Beds clean and comfortable, pillows very soft. You get waht you pay for. Flew into East Midlands to attend wedding in Tutbury Website led us to believe was convenient to Tutbury, spent a small fortune in taxis from airport and into Tutbury. Accommodation very basic ,shower area had black mould on sealant around tray ,shower door had not been cleaned in how long covered in grime!!!!!!!!!! ,however toilet and washand basis clean.Everywhere would benefit from a facelift.Would not stay again .Sorry!

Lived up to expectations of a country pub. Comfortable clean room with plenty of drink making facilities. Liked separate bathroom instead of en-suite. Ability to 'come and go' throughout the weekend. Excellent high class meal on the Saturday night with friends. Convenient, excellent friendly service, nothing too much trouble. Would have liked some marmalade at breakfast.

The hotel was cosy with very friendly staff and excellent food. As we preferred a smaller more intimate hotel this was absolutely perfect. The website does not do justice to the ambience of the hotel. Had no complaints about the hotel whatsoever.
