Central Location Friendly & helpful staff
Very bad service level - got almost nothing right. But the hotel now plans to close for two years to rebuild. So when it opens there will likely be new management, new staff, more interest in offering better service.
Good location and the hotel looks good. All staff very pleasant.
The large bed
Bar prices Parking swayed my choice for this hotel but it's not until you check in that you find out it's charged at £16 a night.
Staff mainly helpful Location
Air conditioner and air extractor broken. Room hot and if you opened window a lot of noise at night from the fields below. The hotel is being refurbished, but it hadnt reached our room as yet. Breakast staff need some proper training on service.
The room was large and beds comfortable
I didn't get my deposit back until now. I contacted the hotel receptionist through phone, she promised that i would get t it back after three working days. YET i got nothing until now.
the room is specious & clean, mattress z very comfortable
Everything. Me and my partner were due to stay for a night. Upon arrival we were greeted by another couple complaining, to which the manger just ignored. We checked in and went up to the room, very old and dated, dirty bathroom and the shower only had a scold setting. Needless to say, we found somewhere else to stay for the night and were not charged for our afternoons accommodation.
Nothing, except the location is good.
No Wifi signal in our room. Warm at night (no air con) Car parking cost £16 for the night. ( I didn't know this in advance so was a little annoyed)
Comfy, convenient and central (less than 10 minutes walk into the city center) The breakfast was good and arrived quickly. Car parking on site was convenient.
Room smelt damp. Aircon in room broken. Breakfast service inattentive. Breakfast food poor quality. I've stayed here before and found it excellent, but standards seem to have fallen badly. No longer good value
Quiet noisy at night, people talking and shouting, but this can be expected in a town centre. Having to pay £16 to park the car overnight, I feel the price paid should have included this facility.
Location excellent, very central. Breakfast very good.
Breakfast awful , the hotel is very tired, carpets taped up, paper peeling, light switches behind pillows couldn't sit up in bed because of the way the beds were placed. Stains on carpet in bedroom!
Comfy beds and large towels.
Well situated. Nice rooms - good bar.
The bathroom shower leaked (you could not organise the curtain [with brown bacteria on the bottom] to prevent water getting on the floor The room was staggeringly hot when we entered, however the air conditioned eventually made it ok. Even though there was a lift it did not go down to the car park. There seemed to be no way to let yourself in from the car park without calling reception - no method was offered.
The bed was excellent, the room was ok and clean. The situation is probably unbeatable in Cambridge with lounge bar views over the common. There was ample parking space (lots of free slots under the building) even though they took the trouble to phone us to say there was likely to be none. When I asked what would we do if there were no spaces, they had no answer :-(
Room very small, hot, noisy, air conditioning did not work. Bathroom tiny, only room for one person. Staff at reception did not make one feel welcome. Staff at breakfast inattentive. For £189 on Saturday night we were appalled at the standard of the room.
Bed was comfortable but only 4ft 6ins! Breakfast was good with plenty of variety.
for £200 for one night I expected the air con to be working plus we had a room with a balcony which had a tatty net curtain and also some paint on the balcony would have been nice ...
the lift was different ....and the breakfast was very nice ..
The room at the front was noisy. The hotel is in takeaway central and there is noise until 04.00. Public spaces are faded with music playing loudly all the time on an endless loop. Needs a lot of money spending on it.
Room and bed were both large and comfortable. Breakfast was good.
The staff were useless, friendly enough, but utterly clueless, they seem to have received very little training, sometimes their comprehension of English was rather suspect. Considering it was a lovely fine weekend in September, there was no exit on to the park from the bar for we smokers, you had to go our into the street or car parking area, not very considerate for we nicotine addicts. The restaurant was only used for breakfast, in contrast to what was implied, you could get cooked food in the bar, but at all what I was expecting. Luckily enough there was a brilliant Chinese restaurant across the road where we could have a proper meal with first rate service.
The hotel building itself and the room was lovely, in a great location. A nice touch was the courtesy bottle of red wine sitting on the dressing table. Lovely piped classical music in the public rooms and exceptionally comfortable seating.
Given the quality if the location I was surprised at how dated the rooms and common areas were. The hotel is in need of serous capital investment to bring it up to scratch.
Location - couldn't be in a more handy location for CITY centre and was quiet. Good value
