We stayed in a room with a view of the river and that was beautiful. The location is superb, within walking distance of the centre of Abingdon and the bus stop into Oxford. The breakfast was generous and covered every taste. The room was pristine and there was coffee, tea and biscuits which was replenished every day. Generally, a good choice.
It was quite an expensive hotel although we could not complain about the amenities. The bed was a bit rickety, on rollers which made it quite unstable.
Hotel set in a nice location
Room small, toast at breakfast was very thin and was not edible. Ordered a roll for dinner and that was stale, bed was awful.
The English breakfast, comfortable beds
Small rooms, small place to work in the room
service is good clean food is good
The location was perfect. Also appreciated the flexibility with my needs at breakfast.
Friendly service, good location.
Friendly staff, good food and reasonably spacious room. Loved being on an island, even if only a little one, and the sound of water rushing gave an idyllic feel to the experience.
No overall complaint about the hotel. Ideal location and will consider a return stay, maybe some time next year. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Evening meal was very good and the staff were engaging, nothing was too much trouble
found the bed a little uncomfortable leading to a troubled sleep
Central for Abingdon - really nice setting on river Thames
Couldn't use £5 meal vouchet to pay towards our bill - had friends join us for breakfast and it would have been nice to use voucher
Very good value for money! Very good & tasty food and generous portions. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. Room was warm and clean.
Excellent!!!!!!! A hidden treasure!! very friendly staff!!!!! Breakfast delicious!!
dirty room dirty furniture ripped headboard/curtains breakfast selection
The Location of the Hotel was Good The breakfast was excellant in the morning and the staff were very helpful.
The Room was old and very dated, would really benefit from a little money being spent on the decor. The Carpet and bedding were dirty and there was a musky smell in the hallway and the room itself.
Location of hotel, very quite at night for sleeping
Very poor light in bedroom so had trouble reading. When checking out would have liked to have been asked how are our stay had gone. Very different from a hotel we stayed in the previous weekend which was excellent in all respects.
The location and staff and rooms
Poor repair work broken tiles on our door steps window tiles missing in dinning room general air or looking shabby and run down
We liked the location and the room was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and served in good surroundings.
There was nothing to dislike.
Location near to the centre of Abingdon. Friendly staff, in particular Richard who was very helpful.
Hotel tired and needs a total re-vamp. Lacking in atmosphere. Cooked breakfast, although plentiful, was tasteless. Scrambled eggs and omelette hard to recognise.
The location suited our needs as we had a function in the town to attend. At breakfast we had the most perfect Eggs Benedict in the stylish dining room, served by the chef himself with charm and aplomb. He is certainly a great asset!
The pillows did not suit us very well, otherwise we would have had an excellent night's sleep. We thought that the room was perhaps a little over-priced for its quality and size and the windows need some tlc.
Possibly THE worst mattress I've ever slept on. huge dips and lumps. Bathroom was awful. Neither of us slept. Breakfast was poor. Eggs floating in water my husbands bacon sarnie was on tesco stripey bread. Disaster all round for us.
View of the river, near center city, good breakfast selection
We were given a room on the second floor over looking a noisy wedding reception that lasted until midnight.
The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfasts were very good. The room was clean, comfortable, well equipped and quiet.
The signage for the hotel and its car park were inadequate (we arrived after dark and had some difficulty in finding the hotel). Access with luggage was not easy (fairly narrow stairs and no lift).
Poor selection of food/snacks at midday.
Position of hotel is lovely, right on the river. Great just for one night and very inexpensive. Hotel has seen better days, outside needs painting and outside furniture in a terrible state. bed was very lumpy but room was clean. Breakfast average but nice to have it served. would be happy to pay more if the hotel went upmarket - could be amazing with such a fantastic position.
