Good and service
Limited wifi in some rooms. Very frustrating when on business not recieving constant signal
A convenient location and a good half board package was ideal for a 24 hour appointment in Abingdon. Any longer and we might have found the room rather small, and menu limited.
Service in the Restaurant was a little variable and disorganised.
There no curtains in the rooms, or anywhere. Stair walls to upper rooms, needed redecorating, all a bit tired.
The room (32) was a really good size and the view was excellent
Nothing to dislike
Friendly staff great location excellant value half board package
Shabby hallways lead to a bad impression that could be completely changed by a little tlc
breakfast the best I had in Oxford and I have stayed at many hotels
toilet paper was of poor quality
Both the evening meal and full english breakfast were superb
Room was good but could do with a refurbishment
What a lovely hotel! We stayed just one night on 6th Feb, but we will definitely be back again in the future. The staff are lovely, very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food (we had breakfast and 3 course evening meal) was perfect, great choice, beautifully cooked and large portions too! Our room (no.43) was clean, large and airy on the ground floor which looked out to the river. There's a communal patio area in front of the room, which didn't affect us as it's winter, but in summer this may be off-putting to some, as you would have to leave the net curtains closed to keep your privacy.
The location is still splendid and the staff were courteous and helpful.
The hotel has been refurbished with very poor taste, removing the wonderful character and replacing it with bland, poor quality furnishings and decor more in keeping with a budget chain. A great shame and we won't be staying here again.
Bed was very comfortable Nice bedroom. Bath had chip damage to it, nice hot water and good shower
Nothing big It was a bit cold sometimes in the bar and restaurant
Breakfast. Asked for poached egg on toast. Both eggs and toast under-done. Egg whites runny and toast was just warm bread.
Well located for town centre Good breakfast; cooked and continental Free parking
The shower in the room was broken (we managed to get a refund of 30% of the room price after complaining twice, with no fix available) Smell of sewage
Location and breakfast
Shower low flow of water
The location is exceptional; tucked away on its own little island, just off the main concourse into the small town. We had dinner which we really enjoyed and breakfast was excellent. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Found our room in need of attention to detail and perhaps bringing up to date. Shower (in bath) unusable, entire bathroom needed a proper clean and again needs a refurb. These issues wouldn't put us off visiting again.
Just a superb location, on the river, part of the ancient Abbey, the old mill workings preserved and on display (and restoring them to working condition is a future plan), lovely walks just outside the door, Abingdon centre around the corner. Bed was recently renewed and very comfortable. Cleanliness abounded. Restaurant menu had an unusually creative vegetarian section. The food was quality pub grub, at pub grub prices. Breakfast though was outstanding. Staff throughout very friendly and helpful.
There really wan't anything we didn't like, but if pushed, the chunky chips were not freshly cut and that was a small disappointment. Are there bits here and there that could do with refurb? Yes. Is the hotel actively refurbishing? Yes. Was any of it a bother? No.
As always this place is excellent all round.
River view rooms, although more expensive, appear a bit dated , in their own wing. The rooms in the main area seem newer .
The location was excellent and the design of the building was the same but that is where it ends.
Rooms were dirty and not cleaned.A spiders paradise, building inside and out badly need updating. The staff were very pleasant but did not have clue about service. The breakfast was not edible.
Good location (right on the river). Friendly staff.
Very tired and needs refurbishing. Hard beds.
We stayed in a room with a view of the river and that was beautiful. The location is superb, within walking distance of the centre of Abingdon and the bus stop into Oxford. The breakfast was generous and covered every taste. The room was pristine and there was coffee, tea and biscuits which was replenished every day. Generally, a good choice.
It was quite an expensive hotel although we could not complain about the amenities. The bed was a bit rickety, on rollers which made it quite unstable.
Hotel set in a nice location
Room small, toast at breakfast was very thin and was not edible. Ordered a roll for dinner and that was stale, bed was awful.
The English breakfast, comfortable beds
Small rooms, small place to work in the room
service is good clean food is good
The location was perfect. Also appreciated the flexibility with my needs at breakfast.
Friendly service, good location.
