This waterside hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Cardiff’s lively city centre. In a peaceful setting, it has an award-winning restaurant, a modern health club and spacious rooms.
Score from 500 reviews Good
Loved the bathrooms and bed very comfortable
Public areas were cold in appearance and in temperature in some places some nicer sofas and and flowers would have been nice also some sort of focal point nice realistic gas fire in lounge areas
There was free wifi despite what it says on the internet. The receptionist was very helpful searching the room for my watch after I'd checked out.
Air conditioning in the room was operated centrally so couldn't be switched off. Temperature control went down to 19 deg only without calling for a change. When a cool, quiet room was required overnight this was a pain.
my partner liked the breakfast. i liked the health suite and pool.
price of breakfast overpriced
Stayed on business for 2 nights . Previoulsy stayed at a budget hotel but will be staying at the Vale in future, great value, spacious room, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom plus free wifi and a well equiped gym.
I guess the bar area was not particularly welcoming, a bit cold and impersonal, but other than that I cannot fault the hotel
Bedrooms and bathrooms very comfortable had luxurious feel lovely toiletries from white company in bathroom.
Public areas could do with warming up visually and physically nice roaring fire would have been welcoming only electric fire not quite the same restaurant was cold for afternoon tea did mention this and noticed radiators had been put in for evening meal.
Easy access from the M4 motorway, the hotel has good parking, and the rooms were a generous size, with tea coffee in the room very clean, modern. Good sized bathroom, with a separate bath and shower.
More than a Hotel with golf and gym facilities, this rather felt like a Sports Centre with sleeping accommodation, lots of green steel with glass. Everything a little bland. Lots of corridors, lots of fire doors, leading to further corridors, there was no feeling of anything other than a corporate building. it just felt anodyne. Also, upon check-in, the receptionist recited her information in such a rapid automated way, I almost didn't catch what she said. This was countered by a very helpful receptionist on check out though.
Simply faultless highly recommended
Although the staff were friendly There was no atmosphere at the hotel. The reteraunt was small and cramped. The choice of food poor and portions small. We Stayed in room 128 ceiling in the bathroom badly stained and needing some decoration. paper delivery was wrong 2 days out of 3 In truth an experience I would rather forget
Welsh lamb evening meal
Sadley no mint sauce
Excellant facilities, gym etc really comfortable bed
The hotel was beautiful. We stayed there for an event. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to use the pool facilities on both days even though we were only there for the one night. I expected the food and drink to be a lot more expensive than it was but I thought it quite reasonable
staff very helpful ,comfortable room, and food excellent.
rain,rain,and more rain.
everything was very good
the lounge and bar seating was only just acceptable, especially the lounge.
Facilities are good! Easy to find from the M4.
Bar staff need to keep in touch with the kitchen. Food was left on the side and then was sent out cold. A great place let down by little details.
Hotel is excellent for golf
Checked into a nice looking room unfortunately next door to the rooms being renovated... asked to move as the noise was to continue all weekend.... to a room in the loft on the second floor (lift not working) Not what i would consider value for money at 150GBP per night. Only one restaurant.
I liked the whole experience of staying at the Vale. The quiet, beautiful surroundings are perfect for relaxing
I didn't like the fact that I could only stay one night
The room allocation was misleading leading to a re-room, to a room that overlooked the aircon plant (noisy) and then a further move to a better room finally (one hour wasted of valuable free time...steam room broken (again! Grumbled members who I overheard). Overall a very tired hotel going through a much needed refurbishment.Would have stayed elsewhere if I had known standard given price charged. No breakfast given (despite me stating I had booked B&B rate and unable to check history of booking email remotely - not even offered by way of apology for poor standard). Shame - could be a winning formula - won't be returning unless all refurbished - lovely other places to stay in the area.
Very nice wedding
Noise Expensive drinks
The quietness of the location of our room. The black out curtains. The size of the rooms and the tranquil patio area. The lovely biscuits provided with the room tea making facilities :-)
The different prices? booked 2 rooms at £127 per room. A week later booked another room and got a 15% discount for booking early? Then closer to time enquired about booking an extra night (same room) and was quoted £160 (which i didn't take) Web site quotes £12.50 extra for breakfast. Actually £10.50 once there? Tea spoons would of been handy for the tea making facilities in our room rather than the arm of my reading glasses.
nice rooms, fabulous grounds, great if you are a golfer, or want to use the spa
very expensive in taxis if you don't drive No staff at the bar when we went for pre-dinner drinks we waited 10 min and only got served after complaining at Reception. waiting time for taxis they have to come from Cardiff, we got a half price deal I wouldn't have been happy if I had paid full price, 4 star no fridge, mini bar ?
Beautiful location, amazing facilities. friendly helpful staff. comfy bed which was also massive. Stunning views over the golf course. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Staff went out if their way to help us get to a nearby wedding which was very much appreciated - thank you
Beds and pillows
What a lovely hotel - lots of charm and professionalism from all the staff. Choice and quality of food was excellent. Rooms were luxurious together with the Bathroom shower etc. Best Hotel I've stayed at this year.
Gym Great Classes
The fact the doors all open different ways in the main building leading to the bedrooms. A sticker on the door saying open this one first would help.
