Staff, Dan and Chris, are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a good location, we walked to town each day.
Room at the third floor with no lift. The stairs could use some refurbishing and painting on the walls. Bathrooms are very small. The front of the Guest House could use some landscaping to make the entrance more attractive. Expensive for the quality of the rooms and having no lift for luggage.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included.
We were three flights up- no elevator. About 1 mile from castle. I thought it was closer.
Shower. Noise neighbours.
Sharing toilet, old facilities. Too expensive for what we got but our stay was during the fabulous festival so all was booked.
good location, ten minuets walk from edinburgh castle, friendly and helpful staff/owners.
Central location Friendly hosts Excellent Breakfast
This hotel is excellent value for money. The owners are friendly full of helpful advice and made my stay a very pleasant experience
The host was willing to help us with local pubs and busses. The place was very clean and had good breakfasts.
The room didn't have any curtains other than blinds that did not do any kind of light blocking. In Edinburgh where the sun is up very early in the morning in the summer, it would have been nice to have the room a bit darker. Street noise was a bit if a problem too.
Walking distance from city center. Nice breakfast, nice people.
The place was ok, but the room was really small, the bathroom also, but overall there are - when it rained - a very bad smell coming from the roof. Really bad. But this probably only concerns the room we got under the roof
-rooms -very dirty building -internet
The staf were friendly.
A lot of steps to go to the room. We pay more than was booked.
The location is ideal for visiting the Edinburgh attractions. Staff are very helpful and friendly and make an amazing cooked breakfast! The family room was clean and spacious and had tea making facilities.
The family room was situated at the front of the hotel which meant we had constant noise from the city as the windows were single glazed.
Friendly staff Plenty hot water Clean towels
No hooks anywhere No shelf/dressing table for when drying hair Smelly shower Tiny en suite not clean Window surround filthy Climb up to room 25 "strange"
The place was lovely in an ideal location fantastic value for money and friendly staff I thoroughly enjoyed my stay
The staff was very friendly and service minded, always a smile on their faces. Good breakfast eveey morning too, and cleaning of the rooms every day!
Being an economical person I would have wanted to maybe stay at a hostel instead. But the whole experience was so delightful that in the end it matters very little. Seeing that Edinburgh can be very pricy during the festivals ( Hogmanay for example) we may have gotten away with a decent price.
Situated well in the City. Breakfast was very good. The owners where very friendly and helpful.
Parking!!!! had to get up and move the car before 8am outside the hotel. Not the hotels fault.
The owners and staff were wonderful--friendly, helpful, fun. The location was great--we walked everywhere. The breakfasts were cooked to order and were big servings.
No elevator means a 4 story climb to our romantic 4 poster bed, but we knew that when we booked. And the view from the window was very pretty.
Rooms were nice, staff very friendly, food good. You can easily walk to the town centre.
The parking situation is not convenient. There are only two spaces. One car blocks the other. If one leaves the other must move. That takes a lot of time. For a big car the space is rather narrow.
We could walk everywhere from this guest house. The hosts were knowledgeable and helpful as this was our first time in Edinburgh. Breakfast was yummy and nicely served. The host even helped us get our laundry done.
We were on the third floor and of course, no lift, so it was kind of a trek up to our room. But that's minor compared to all the benefits of this guest house.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, with good local knowledge and helpful advice. The breakfasts were very good and plentiful. Room was big and clean The stay was very good value for money. Would definitely stay there again.
Only gripe was not much room in the on-suite.
near to the city center
Wonderful location, helpful, comfortable.
Lovely people, friendly and very helpful. Good location. Great coffee at breakfast. Rooms basic but everything you need. Excellent shower. Clean Comfy bed.
Cooked Breakfast items just a wee bit too greasy for my liking but still tasty enough.
I like Valentine City Guest House's proximity to the town center. I was also very pleased with the friendliness of the staff, everyone was very personable.
The many flight of stairs was very difficult especially since we had many heavy bags to carry up and down the stairs. I would also have preferred an ensuite bathroom.
Taxi that was supposed to have been booked to take me to the airport did not show up.
