Perfect location for the Iron Bridge Gorge and museums and the hotel staff were very helpful. Food was very good and service in the dining room was exemplary - friendly, polite and quick. Very interesting staying in what was an grand old house, decorated in typical style of the area. Lovely garden. Bedlinen needs updating/improving though it was clean/freshly laundered. No fan in the en-suite.

The view from our bedroom window over the gorge with beautiful trees and flowers in the well maintained garden. Excellent breakfasts and service, although coffee was only lukewarm so went on to hot tea!!. (Full English). Loved the history of the hotel - being a Darby home and later the Maws - both great links with the area. The hotel should promote this fact more - we found one display in the stables area but none in the main hotel apart from one photo on our floor. The very helpful receptionist lent us the hotel history reference book on our last day. The extremely creaky floorboards above our room woke us very early every morning and interfered with our late afternoon rest. We were unable to change rooms unless we lost our view. Being seated near the door away from main area for dinner on our first night when the rest of the restaurant was empty apart from one group of 6. We were well dressed in expensive clothes and are mature people. This affected our planned decision to eat dinner (excellent by the way) in the hotel for the next 2 nights so we ate in Ironbridge instead where we were made to feel very welcome at The Maltings.

Friendly helpful staff; wonderful food; great location for Ironbridge. They couldn't find our booking at first, though it didn't matter as there were other rooms available, and they found the booking later.

Good Location, Great Breakfast Could do with some cash investment - needs bringing up to the level of charges - I paid £95 per night - more like £65 hotel . The queen size bed was the worst I have ever had to sleep on -- very hard :o( The Service however was excellent

Mostly very good - view out of the room across the roof - not brilliant but was only for one night. Excellent value, location, surrounding country side., although the location of the cooling towers spoilt it a bit. This is only one part of the area and the tourist part of the area and beyond is lovely.

Friendly, helpful and informative reception staff. Good facilities in room. Well cleaned. Comfortable bed. Excellently located for Ironbridge tourism. Smallish room dominated by large bed. Concerned that if there was a fire blocking doorway exit then egress via the small window may not have been possible. Overall pleasant stay tainted by arrogant and unhelpful staff in overpriced and pretentious eatery attached to the hotel.

Quiet riverside location, with friendly efficient service. Restaurant food well above average, but not exceptional. This hotel is good for a relaxing break with easy access to sleepy Ironbridge and local walks. Room size and quality very good. The huge cooling towers of the nearby power station are a slight distraction, however.
