The hotel is set in its own secluded grounds, surrounded by stunning European-award-winning parkland that sweeps down to the banks of the Severn River. The world-famous Ironbridge is less than a 10 minute walk down the river from the hotel.

This 3-star country house hotel has 44 individually designed rooms with private bathrooms, some with queen size or four-poster beds and wonderful views.

The Valley Hotel is around 250 years older than the area's famous 18th-century iron bridge. The hotel building has been carefully preserved and refurbished, mixing modern comforts and facilities with beautiful original features.

Food & beverage

The Chez Maw Restaurant is a stylish and relaxing place to dine, offering a high standard of service and excellent cuisine, which has seen it receive 2 AA Rosettes. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes with English and continental influences. A good selection of vegetarian dishes is available.

The extensive wine list offers a selection of classic wines and wines from the New World to complement your meal.

Catering for up to 60 guests, the dining room has an adjacent bar area that leads out onto the patio, which overlooks the stunning surrounding parkland and the Severn River.

If you prefer a more casual meal, traditional bar meals and snacks are available at lunchtime.

Room information

There are rooms on the hotel’s first, second and third floor. All of the rooms are well furnished with modern facilities. There are 6 internal rooms, which are air conditioned.

Roll away beds are available in some rooms upon request.

Area information

The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from the Ironbridge itself. Ths bridge has become a symbol of Britain’s bygone industrial heritage, the atmosphere of which has been recaptured by the many and varied Ironbridge Gorge Museum sites. There are 10 museum sites nearby, all of which are within easy walking distance, or are a short drive from the hotel.

Other places of interest in the area include the market towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

The hotel is easily accessible via highway M54 from highway M6 and central Telford is only a 5-minute drive away.

Excellent breakfasts and service, although coffee was only lukewarm so went on to hot tea!!. (Full English). Loved the history of the hotel - being a Darby home and later the Maws - both great links with the area. The hotel should promote this fact more - we found one display in the stables area but none in the main hotel apart from one photo on our floor. The very helpful receptionist lent us the hotel history reference book on our last day. The extremely creaky floorboards above our room woke us very early every morning and interfered with our late afternoon rest. We were unable to change rooms unless we lost our view. Being seated near the door away from main area for dinner on our first night when the rest of the restaurant was empty apart from one group of 6. We were well dressed in expensive clothes and are mature people. This affected our planned decision to eat dinner (excellent by the way) in the hotel for the next 2 nights so we ate in Ironbridge instead where we were made to feel very welcome at The Maltings. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful, did you?	6.7
