Great welcome by the staff and got what we requested. Lovely decor and inviting room. Amazing bath! A few minor details.... The curtains let rather alot of light in. As we were in an attic room they didnt shut properly. Took a rather long time for someone to let us back into the Hotel after a night out as it is locked later in the night. We had to wait in the cold, frequently buzzing reception.

Funky hotel with great facilities and perfect location right on Canal Street. Staff were great too. Only annoying thing was the tv wasn't working. I didn't really bother as I was out most the time anyway. The staff were good about it and offered to look into it further but I declined.

We liked everything about Velvet Hotel, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, they offered us the choice to upgrade on our arrival for a small price which we accepted. Great location, bar looks great and also the restaurant.

Lovely stay although with young children I could have done without the semi naked photo of David Beckham on the wall of the room.

Good hotel in a lively location. Its in the gay area of manchester as became obvious when in the bar. Although noisy outside, good windows (an effecient air con system) meant that we didnt hear any of it.

Exceptional - I've stayed at all the big, multi-star hotels in Manchester and this "little" one trumps them all. Well done. Absolutely nothing!

The Hotel was in a great location, right in the heart of the village. The rooms were Large ,clean and attention to detail was great. The convenience of the rather lovely restaurant in the basement, was particularly good, with a chilled bar on the ground floor, all accessible from the lift. The Velvet is a definite winner, and I will be staying there again on any future trips to Manchester.

The Velvet hotel is a must stay for anyone, ranked number 1 for places to stay, and a deserved winner, room was excellent, bathroom lovely, turn down service first class, food excellent, staff attentive, maid service efficient. Noise levels were of no concern, I would stay here again in a heartbeat, best ever £300 spent. I really cannot say enough about this hotel. Ren products in the bathroom, cool blue lights on the floor, very boutique bedroom, huge mirrors- just book and you will see what I mean.....

Design led boutique hotel. Fun touches include a sheep on the balcony. Lovely room with a 4 poster bed and free standing bath and big shower. Efficient reception and staff. Attached to bar and restaurant, which are equally excellent. Minor, minor quibble - provide sufficient milk in the room to make more than 1 hot drink. In comparison you are inundated with lemon slices!

Excellent location and luxurious accommodation. Breakfast not included in room costing £109 - I would have expected it to be included with this price.

Excellent service & reception. We were booked in very speedily and efficiently, personally shown to our room, with a welcome pack of tea coffee & biscuits and a very concise but detailed explanation of how the hotel operated. Any questions / problems were quickly answered. We went shopping after booking in & unpacking and returned to a lovely surprise of our bed being turned down, a re-supply of ice & fruit & milk, and a little note of explanation. We dined in the restaurant in the evening. All excellent. Lovely hotel. It was our first stay but not the last. Our thanks to all the staff. Rob Anderson. Bicester. Oxfordshire.

Gosh..where do l start.?!...totally loved it ....went with my husband for a Romantic stay and had a fabulous night ....Our room had a huge decadent ornate bed which was extremely comfortable...( l want one !! )... The bedrooms were one of the main reasons why we booked the Velvet Hotel. We also loved the little touches like the welcome tray ....the proper coffee !..and the filled ice bucket ...( we stayed the following night at another 4 star hotel and didn't get anything like that there ! ) The ipod docking station had also excellent sound quality ....and when we got back to our room later in the evening ,they had turned our bed down and left some chocolate and a little note ..... The staff were also very friendly and gave us plenty of information of where to go ... We can't recommend this hotel highly enough and can't wait to stay there again !!!......

I really liked the Staff, they made me and my guest feel so welcome and I felt they were part of the Hotel and not just people who worked there. The room was amazing as it was so clean and everything was beautiful and the design of the furniture and bathroom suite was outstandingly good. It was great there was a restuarant and Bar and that the room has menus displayed to advise. A truly wonderful place and I was happy as my guest loved the Hotel as well and felt really special. I was unaware of the £50 desposit required for use of the minibar. When I arrived to check in I had £260 in an Account, but was told I had to leave my room fee £238 and extra £50 total £288. I was embarrased as only had £260 in that Account. They pre-authorised £260 on that card, I left £20 cash and £8 pre-authorised on Another Account. On check out day my bill was for £238, but for some reason the card declined. I had to go to my Bank and they said the pre-authorised £260 should be can cancelled by the Hotel and new sale for £238 needs to be done. I went back to the Hotel to advise and all was okay. The only trouble is that £260 has left my Account and not £238, so I am £22 short. The Hotel did give me back £20 cash, but still holding £8 on the other, so I made need to go back to advise if not sorted with refund of £22 + £8. All this could of been avoided if I had known about the £50 desposit. I am sorry to go on, but I am only thankful my Friend did not know or see this as the Hotel was my treat to him.
