Comfortable place, very pleasant staff, centrally located within walking distance of train station and main part of town and shopping district. Delicious meals and desserts served in beautiful dining room. A great value at a good price.
Since this an old building with all guest rooms on upper level — two sets of steps make it not suitable for those with handicaps or the very elderly.
The location and staff were both excellent. The staff were very helpful and helped to lay on a great party.
The beds appeared to be overly firm and uncomfortable- did not help towards a good nights sleep
Food, staff, beer, were very good. The bars and décor were excellent.
Rooms were clean and tidy but a little bit dated.
Nice room Clean TV and kettle in room Good facilities in hotel Good choice for breakfast
Lack of pressure in shower
The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Room perfect and breakfast soaked up the drink from the night before.
location dining room high teas
rather ordinary room
Very friendly and helpful staff
The a la carte menu was very good and the quality of the food was very good too..
The fact that when I arrived they could not find my reservation.
The friendly staff, very polite and helpful.
The squeaky door and floorboards in the bedroom.
Staff very friendly especially the lady that served our breakfast. Breakfast was delicious, good sized portion & hot.
Shower was lacking power.
You could have high tea instead of dinner and had senior citizen portions.
Can't find any fault with my stay.
Made welcome. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant.
Room window opened onto flat roof with kitchen extractor fan working from 6 am. So not pleasant with window open.
We were at a wedding which went without a hitch. Excellent service and food. Very friendly staff, always happy to help and always with a smile. This makes such a difference to the overall experience.
Friendly staff Food is great Service is excellent
Wi fi not the best
Nice and quiet. Staff couldn't do enough for me. Food was very good. Would go again.
Climbing stairs as there was no lift.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we were made welcome from the moment we walked in. The breakfast in the morning was amazing and we got more than we expected, they had a variety of things to choose from which was really good considering my partner is a fussy eater. The hotel was extremely clean.
The only downsides were the room was a bit dated and their was a lot of noise early in the morning.
Location Price Service
Breakfast first class...free WiFi in room....biscuits in room
Lack of ambience at dinner (total silence) no background music at all, only 2 other diners so conversations could be totally overheard and the clinking of cutlery, quite poor. The cramped shower.....curtains at velux window in room 10 did not cover the window....holes in curtains both sides...generally tired feel to room....hard bed...intermittent TV...very small TV
Extremely friendly and helpful staff...great breakfast
Rooms a little tired and need of updating but clean
Staff could not be better and the public rooms were nice enough. The Victorian features were super. Each interaction I had with staff made me feel that they care about providing excellent service. The food was good.
My small single room was near the kitchen exhaust fan which was as noisy as a jet plane and often smelled awful. Shutting the window helped but then the room was stuffy. The shower varied between too hot and cold.
Fantastic friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
Room 17 desperately in need of update. Cracked & broken tiles on bathroom floor, feeble leaky shower.
Very helpful staff, good food, some lovely original features - especially the wood carvings.
the staff, the old style comforts, big breakfasts, decent drink prices, location, etc
could do with a tin of paint here and there. the plumbing also needs a bit of work.
The Resturant and food was nice.
The rooms are in need of updating and the shower wasn't very powerful but it was ok for the money. The TV in the room kept going off half way through a programme which was annoying after a while but, One of the main reasons I booked the hotel was because it says it has a gym and leisure facilities only to find it did not, this annoyed me and made me not enjoy the rest of my stay
Breakfast was plentiful and very satisfying.
Hot water flow in the showers - it took a while before it kicked in.
