The staff were really friendly and the room was clean and in very good condition. The breakfast in the morning was nice too. It is a very good location for the city centre as well. Nothing, everything was great.

I really enjoyed the close proximity to Hanley and The Victoria Hall where I usually go to work. I was also delighted to sample an excellent evening meal at a very reasonable price. I think the rooms need curtains instead of blinds. My room had a very bright light outside in the street and the blind wasn't sufficient to block out all the light, important for a decent night's sleep. One also has to be aware that, as this is a pub, the live music sometimes continues till quite late.

- Landlady and staff were lovely and checked how I was settling in my room a few times. - Food and drink is served between 12pm and 9pm in the downstairs bar. Prices are not expensive, portions are good sized. The bar seemed to only fill up with the regulars/locals so I had no bother from anyone as a lone-traveller. - Good location - victoria on the square is located within 5 mins of a huge tesco, emma bridgewater factory, pottery museum and library, 10 mins fromhanley town centre - Windows are single-glazed so the rooms aren't overly warm, but chances are you'll either be out shopping or cuddled up into your bedsheets. - Walls between rooms aren't particularly thick - the man in next room to me was a snorer!

the hospitatlity. it was second to none. I was made to feel so welcome, especially by the landlady, Bernadette. I needed this trip to visit a friend and relax and that's exactly what i was able to do.

Very friendly staff, especially owner Bernadette who couldn't have been more kind and helpful. Room was small but clean and bright. Ensuite bathroom was modern and a good size. Room was well furnished and decorated and the tea facilities were a good addition. A separate hotel entrance meant guests could come and go as they please without telling staff. Also, having the bar/restaurant just downstairs was extremely handy as I could just walk downstairs to have my dinner without a reservation. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced, I had a lovely lasagne for just 5.95. I did not have breakfast downstairs but that was an option for just 5 pounds. The hotel was just 20 min walk from the train station and right next to a bus stop. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would definitely go back. The walls seemed a little bit thin and I could hear most of what was said in the room next door, which made falling asleep a little bit hard. Had I had ear plugs with me this would not have been a problem. Single room was very small but perfectly adequate. It would have been very nice to have a double bed even in a single room, but the single bed I had was perfectly fine and very comfortable.

Easy access to the station. It's not a big deal, but I was meant to be let in at 10am as arranged over the phone, but I could not get into the hotel after 10 minutes of knocking on the door. I was going to a wedding and had to change, which I did in the end in the art centre 5 minutes down the road. A little courtesy and help and to make a small exception doesn't cost much.
