room was spacious, clean, was front room so windows with lots of light coming in. didn't do breakfast ill explain why in don't like section. female check in staff were friendly enough. we were not told on check in that we had to put the key at reception when going out. a guy who i had never seen before stopped us on way out to dinner and said' oh are you going out please leave your key'. we thought he meant we were leaving. we went out to the shops later and came back and the same guy came running at the dorr and said abruptly ' what room you in' 'you have came in and out 4/5 times and not left your key'. next time advise customers that you have to put your key back when leaving, there wasn't even any posters telling you so. also don't be so abrupt to the customers. we did not come in and out 4 or 5 times, it was once. what business is it of your how much we come in and out anyway.

The location is great. Absolute central, in walking distance to most places I needed to visit. This is all I can say in favor - the rest is... 1. The receptionist asked for full payment for the whole stay at arrival (not an advance, not deposit - the full amount) before I could even see the room. 2. Which later made total sense, as a very awful smell greeted me entering the bedroom. It literally felt like sleeping on top of a sewer. Woke up to bad dreams several times. 3. It took the staff two days to fix the problem. Not really solving it: they basically filled the room with some very strong artificial odor and cleaning stuff. With the window wide open I tried to survive the three nights disturbed by the foul smell first then the "nice" odor. 4. When I, eventually, moved out two days prior to the planned check-out, the staff insisted no refund was possible. "Ask booking.com, if you wish" - was their response. Now I may be tempted to accept that via booking.com I got a nice package-price but this really isn't a very user-friendly and welcoming attitude. And they seemed absolutely ready and prepared to shake off the complaints without dealing with it... (The breakfast wasn't great either. Rich, true, but tasteless. All pre-prepared supermarket stuff heated up)

It was warm and plenty of hot water and convenient to City Centre The room had an air of neglect. On arrival the en-suite door was shut and the inside smelt very unpleasant The curtains were hanging off. The sheathing of the shower piping was very dirty and partly missing. The mirror light in en-suite did not work nor did the desk light.

Friendly staff, and good location. On a quiet street just back from one of the main shopping streets. Up a hill so for some this won't be ideal. Rooms are small and simple, all you need for a couple of nights in the city. I left too early for the main breakfast each day, but even at 5am there were staff at reception (24hrs) and a simple selection of breakfast foods available. Can't really fault the place.

Great location, 5 minutes walk from Sauchiehall. Every point of interest in the city is reachable with a max. 30 minutes walk. Good value for the money. Can't think of anything wrong. Some may not like the fact the building is "really" Victorian, so quite old, but that was a plus for me.

location We had a terrible room that was really old and dirty. Even the window could not be closed as it was damaged. The official pictures of the hotel are totally different compared to our room. Our recommendation: choose another hotel to enjoy your stay in Glasgow!!

Very good location.Beautiful building.Good breakfast.Friendly staff.Comfortable beds.Based on recommendation from a friend-I think we were unfortunate in the room we were allocated. The Victorian House was recommended to us however we were disappointed with the room and facilities.Room 57 had dirty net curtains, cracked tiles in bathroom floor and hairs in shower tray when we arrived.Plastic bag on the ceiling-?attached to smoke alarm.

It's situated just next to Glasgow School of Art (gives it bohemian air with all the art students walking up and down the street) and close to the city centre. Simple but comfortable. The breakfast served a liitle bit too early for me (7:30-8:45) but with variety and the room has a view to a cute backyard. The staff very helpful and polite! I didn't carry a lot of luggage so it wasn't such a problem for me but people that aren't travelling (ryanair) light should take into consideration that the hotel hasn't got an elevator and they have to climb stairs and walk though quite a few narrow interior wooden doors.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Moreover, the location of the Victorian House was a stone's throw from the city centre and all the must-see landmarks in Glasgow. Unfortunately there was no hot water in the shower or even a hair dryer in the room. In the middle of the night I had to ask the staff to sort those problems out. Needless to say, I had higher expectations of the 3-star hotel.

At £33 a night inc cooked breakfast, en suite, free wifi, freeview tv, & central location, this was perfect value for money. No complaints, just remember you're getting what you pay for, so don't expect everything to be brand new and shiny. Oh, and the shower was cold one morning, but no big deal.
