Friendliness of staff; Evening meal in restaurant. Excellent leisure/pool facility. Handiness for M4. Variety of cereals/fruit at breakfast.
Cooked breakfast could be better. Room could be better lit (common hotel room flaw we find!).
Room was clean , along with a comfortable bed and good WiFi. Bathroom was ok but a bit tired.Check in staff were efficient, and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful.Breakfast was fine for what we paid
The victory pub , a disgrace, poor over priced food, scruffy, dirty table, no table service, and then the cheek to leave a box for a gratuity on my bill. As you walk in reception it reminded me of a motorway service station. The breakfast buffet station was far to small for the amount of people.
Nothing worth any comment. Checked out a day early.
Noise - guests should be warned of likely xmas party noise so they can make an informed decision whether to stay or not. No soap in bathroom dispensers No toilet paper Freezing reception area Hard bed Breakfast
Would personally like to thank receptionist Donna for her excellent customer service and her sterling efforts due to my error in booking the wrong dates for my partners birthday, all sorted with no fuss. Also upgraded our room for our special occasion.
Lovely clean rooms, bar and restaurant. Although thought the additional costs for chips with your steak is somewhat unreasonable when you are paying £25.
Hotel was really easy to find and a 10 minute drive to Cardiff Bay. The reception lady was lovely. Super friendly. Family room was spacious enough and in a quiet part of hotel. Swimming pool massive with good spa facilities. Husband was happy with a Starbucks on the ground floor. Would stay again.
Sofa bed thin mattress not comfortable. Hotel busy with functions. Food only in the bar which was not family friendly being packed with Saturday night revellers. Room service quick but food not hot. Same at breakfast. Good selection but some items cold. Lift was out of order and was not fixed during our stay.
Incredibly helpful staff Great 'party' atmosphere Well equipped room Decent breakfast Clean, well equipped gym/pool Excellent value
Got late night room service and asked to pay cash. Got overcharged quite a lot but didn't realise until after he'd left and had no proof. The staff had been so great up to that point, we didn't have the heart to complain!
The food was okay.
The swimming pool water was cold and I had to ask the staff to turn the heating up as the air temperature was also very cold. The room was small with nowhere to sit except one small chair and the bed. I thought it was a very expensive hotel, having stayed in similar hotels (Holiday Inn for example) for half the price. We had very, very noisy people opposite our room, the next room, and next door waking us up at 4.30 am and partying until 6.30 despite being asked to keep quiet by the receptionist. I wouldn't stay there again!
Nice room 201, except docking station screwed to bedside table!!! And neither of the two nights was the complimentary tray fully replenished.
The bare, stark unattractive decor of the dining room, not even table clothes for Saturday night dinner and the bar walls emblazoned with promotions. A choice of only two cask ales both of the same ABV.
Very good breakfast
People were very noisy throughout the night, with fights in the corridor and room next door. We did not have hot-water, which makes for a rude awakening after a noisy night of little rest.
Restuarant and breakfast was nice. Rooms were finished to a high standard.
No hot water. Rooms were cramped. Duty manager was not very friendly. At £190 per night, not including breakfast, I expected more.
Excellent Hotel and value for money. Really clean, pleasant environment with good on board facilities.
Location easy to find right next to M4. Staff, particularly Donna on reception were great. Good breakfast.
everything, the hotel was spotless, staff were amazingly friendly, facilities were out of this world, plenty of places for food & beverages, sports/relaxation facilities in abundance. There was a lovely gentleman working in the 'pub' restaurant on the friday night & again at breakfast on the saturday morning, he was the nicest, politest, efficient person i have met in a long time, without being patronising & invasive, very refreshing.
Staff accommodation and food were great. Will come back.
Noisy neighbours partying all night. My daughter rang reception to ask them to keep noise down but nothing happened.
Gym and pool
Credit card charge of 2.50
room was much smaller than anticipated wasn't worth the extra fee for the upper deck, no hot water for a shower 2 mornings running and a room on our corridor had a room service tray outside the door for 36 hours before staff had taken it away!
The water pressure was very low. I had a delux room and a family room and it was poor in both rooms. Very disappointed will not stay there again and will advise others not to.
Free decent wifi. Relatively comfortable but small bed.
Disabled room given despite asking not to have low floor, hotel had plenty of availability. Bathroom dirty.
We had planned to await our evening event here by wander into Cardiff to relax in some bars but this 'Village' has several aspects including dance venue, coffee bar area and homely bar area - so we just stayed and chilled. A clever design.
Nothing was a negative! We will definitely be back.
The leisure facility.
Had booked rooms together and had said we had a small dog. When we checked in they commented how cute our dog was. Were given rooms across from each other - great for the kids. Five hours after check in when we addressed the fact that the kids bed was broken, we were told we weren't supposed to be on the upper level of the hotel as we had a dog and that there was an additional charge per day for the dog. When we booked through booking.com it was pre paid and we automatically got the superior double rooms assigned. We had made additional comments on our booking that we had a small dog. I gather that these rooms are all on the second floor at The Village and NO animals are allowed up there. None of this was mentioned when we checked in even though the person checking us in saw our small dog and commented on how cute she was. There was also no mention made when we checked in that there was a charge for the dog. I had to argue this on check out and finally it was agreed that we would only pay one day extra charge for the dog. Also, the kids bed was broken in the room across from us so they ended up having to go in a room further down the hall. I honestly don't know if the bed issue was addressed the next day so had to mention it when we checked out to make sure some unsuspecting person didn't end up with the same problems with the bed. The morning after we'd mentioned the bed was broken the housekeeping staff were in there making up the bed as if nothing happened. There is no way the bed was fixed the night before. It would have been nice if the kids could have moved back to the room across from us but we weren't given the option and I don't know if the bed would have been fixed in time.
The food was good Staff friendly Room & bedroom comfortable Easy to find Leisure facilities good
Lighting In room poor Steam room out of action
No room service for breakfast
Was very impressed with the hotel in general would defiantly stay here again, brilliant value for money
