It was a good experience overall, quite young and upbeat. The food was of a high standard, fresh bistro-style with a twist, and desserts a must. Most staff members were friendly and approachable. The Village Hotel Cheadle was a bit noisy on Friday night and Saturday night until about 12:00pm (due to the noise/ music from the parties in the function suites on the ground floor just underneath the room where we were staying). I noticed that a certain attention to detail which I had found on a previous stay in that hotel was lacking this time: for instance, little touches like a more exciting selection of hot beverages in the room + availability of biscuits would have been welcome. Other minuses: toilettries to the bare minimum (plus no fancy products), no shampoo and no hairdryer in the room. A beauty/ hairdressing salon would have been handy too, especially if you are short on time. As a conclusion, there is a definite potential for the hotel to position itself as a boutique hotel, should it choose to pay more attention to detail.

The food was exceptional value and the staff were great, especially in the restaurant. Loved the leisure facilities and excellent gym. Great location for exploring. Comfortable room and nice decor. Noticed refurb going on which is probably a good thing. Slightly showing signs of ware and tare. Main criticism isn't of this hotel it's the group. I constantly apply for deals online where you have to leave a phone number or email but no-one comes back to me!!

Location is great for my business needs. The menu has just changed and now there is very limited choice. The prices were represented on the menu as E.G. 5 1/2 which translates as £5.50. I think this is misleading; five and a half what ??...pennies, euros, pounds sterling ? Also five and a half looks like a small number but £5.50 for a bowl of chicken and veg soup in my opinion is expensive. Wine was expensive; I was charged £7.10 for a glass of Merlot. I did discuss at length with the manager who listened to my view but I appreciate he doesn't have control over menus and prices. I stayed here regularly perviously but am thinking of going elsewhere ...as a solo female traveller I prefer a hotel I can get a meal in and not have to get a taxi to a restaurant. £23 for a steak (cheapest steak) including one side dish of choice (broccoli in my case), £3.50 for a serving of potatoes and a glass of wine at £7.10 took me over my expenses limit. I am considering going elsewhere, where I can stay and eat in, which is a shame as the location and room itself were great.

The staff in every area of the hotel were excellent, reception, bar, spa, housekeeping and restaurant. The room was very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. The spa and pool exceeded our expectations. Though the hotel was very busy while we were there we were not disturbed by any noise from the other guests or the passing aircraft, unlike some other hotels I have used in the area. Would definitely stay again.

I was travelling alone with my 2 year old son and booked into this Village hotel as we have stayed before and found it to be very friendly and convenient. My little boy loves the swimming pool and 'bubbles' in the jacuzzi, it's just a shame that we had to get out at 5pm (but I do understand why they have this rule.) The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and one lady even helped me out to the car (in the freezing cold and pouring rain) with all my bags which was beyond the call of duty - thank you! We will definitely stay here again and look forward to our next visit.

We booked a 'superior' double, according to yr website, but DeVere's definition of superior is different - we only got a 'Double More' standard room, not a DeVere Superior: in this respect we were disappointed.

The breakfast was very good, although we were visiting a friend without our own children and there was some sort of child weekend when we stayed. We also had a 3 course meal in the restaurant at night which excellent in taste and value for money. (£29) for two of us! Nothing really, our room was above the squash courts which we could here everyone's game and like I said earlier all of the children - which really wasn't to bad!

Its nice to stay at a hotel with leisure facilities for the chill out factor before bussiness and events start at the night the lighting in the room was not to our satisfaction, too dark even during the day.

The rooms were far too dark and gloomy and the Bathroom needs to be re tiled and the taps and toilet seat left a lot to be desired. On a good note the shower itself was very powerful. The Beer in the Bar was awful and we were told by other customers not to order food as it was not very good so we went out to eat. I would never stay here again or recommended it to anyone

Although this hotel is not plush. the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, room very clean as expected from a De Vere's hotel but the most outstanding was the gourmet meal in the evening, the food was exceptional similar to what one would expect from a top restuarant. It was beautifully presented and totally delicious worth visiting the hotel for My partner liked the fact that the bar and coffee shop was easily accessible. this hotel is an ideal stop off if shopping in Manchester as it isn't too expensive. if you are looking for an upmarket hotel I would recommend the De Vere Carden but this one beats it for the food It suited our requirements

Close to my business destination The restaurant was of good standard. The staff were friendly enough. Mould in the bathroom - did not inspire my confidence regarding hygiene! It was very cold throughout the hotel. In my room, they had a cheap wall fan heater which didn't heat up the room at all! The decor is tired, giving a cheap b&b feeling. I would not take my wife to this hotel for a weekend away! This hotel is not value for the 4 star hotel rate that I paid.

Didn't like having to pay for a family room and having a sofa bed, i think at the price you pay you should be entitled to proper beds! still waiting for the high chair that we requested twice at the breakfast table!!

The room was comfortable and adequate for a one night stay. We checked in at 16:30 and were informed that there was no availability in the restaurant! As we had planned to meet another couple for dinner prior to visiting a local theater we needed to eat and were offered the alternative of selecting from a reduced menu in the public bar. The bar was very busy, noisy and uncomfortable for eating especially as the table was very low! Not a good start for a cultural evening and very disappointing that residents could not eat in the dining room! Breakfast was served with loud 'back ground' music - I requested that the volume be turned down and after 15 minutes my request was carried out. There are also so many members using the facilities (gym & pool) that it looses all feeling of a hotel and becomes solely that of the leisure club - this also makes the car park very busy. Television reception was fuzzy and poor.
