Smoking rooms the worst they can find at the back of the hotel down corridors up & down steps through a few doors & you find them or lets say you can smell them & they charge the same price ! Breakfast finishes at 9am but no one tells you ... until you find out at 9.15 am & no offer of anything .. never again !!!! not at 45 pound a night

The room was awful. No heat at night. And the mattress was 15 years old. And my back hurts like hell. I will not stay there again.

Not informed that there was a Squash court above the room which stopped at 8pm every night during the week and 7pm weekends. Laundry room next door to our room and tumble dryers switched on at 11.30 pm Dirty Bar room carpets with opened Bin bag with rubbish inside. Undercoooked/cold breakfast. Unhelpful staff,we were not even offered a different room , and informed that there was no managerial staff available at the weekends. This is not a complaint its a fact.

We stayed here on 14/01/2012 as we were going to the match at Old Trafford. The hotel was a short 6mile trip from the ground. We paid £90 for 2 twin rooms in the non-smoking section. For the price the hotel was clean and comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect. The decor was a bit old fashioned and the choices for breakfast (which is included in the price) we limited to a full english or an omelette. Not great if you are a vegetarian or don't eat pork.

It is convenient for visiting family in nearby Bury and Whitefield. The staff are friendly and the prices for B & B are very competitive. Had previously booked double room. We founbd the room not ready when we arrived. We were offered a twin room which we accepted. Very adequate, but heating was not switched on until 5pm... on a very cold and windy day!

We have been on several occasions for family parties but never stayed overnight before. We find the lodge comfortable, affordable and easy to get to. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was no problem when we asked for an extra bed for our Granddaughter and there was still plenty of room even with an extra bed. All the staff are extemely friendly and helpful. We find the whole atmosphere very relaxing and would definitely stay over again and recommend the Lodge to friends and family. When there is a party invite from our family in Manchester we are always pleased when it says the Fairways Lodge as the venue. Breakfast was also good and there was plenty of it. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Our room was cold on entry. Heating come on a timer which seems strange when the temperature was 1-2 degrees outside. The heating did not come on in our room all night or the next morning. When we raised the matter the reception just said she will let the mananger no. She did not even offer an apology.

Easy to find in a good location to visit City Centre or Apollo Venue for a concert. Good breakfast. Rooms are a bit tired and in need of a freshen up. Bed too soft with little support but ok for 1 night. Had to suffer constant banging noise from across the hallway from arrival till we went out early evening, however it had stopped on our return. All in all can't complain as overall good value for what we paid and would certainly consider again if we had to return to Manchester.

At the time of booking your hotel was amongst the most competitive and within reach of the City Centre I noticed that due to the fact the walls were only plaster board, it was possible to hear a lot of people around you and as a number of parties were being held, it got quite noisy on occasions. On that basis it may not have held up to Premiers 'good night sleep' pledge. But in the end you get what you pay for.

The staff were friendly. Unfortunatly there was a wedding party booked so we were unable to have dinner as planned and meet with friends. The accommodation was fine. We shared our disapointment at not being able to have dinner and meet with friends as planned as we were not notified of the wedding party and were offered a complimentry meal for 2. The management and staff were very nice. The location was disapointing as there are no alternative local resturants and the transport service into town over the weekend was non existant I would use this hotel again as a weekend getaway in future but would definatly ensure that all the facilities were available.

Location was convenient for us and good to be away from the motorway/traffic noises. Friendly, polite staff and good level of cleanliness. Bedside light on one side not working. Requested reception to put in replacement bulb - not done. Noise issue from adjoining rooms - walls must be very thin as we were woken by ordinary conversation and later by snoring during the night from adjoining room!! Obviously a problem throughout hotel as my daughter on 1st first (we were on ground) also had noise problems with adjoining rooms. Again normal conversations could be heard quite clearly!

Good value for the money. Clean and comfortable. Quiet - except on one evening we heard what I think was balls bouncing off the squash courts thro the wall. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and plentiful.

We had read mixed reviews before our stay, so were really prepared for anything! We need not have worried - from reception to check-out, everything was great. Our room was comfy and clean, with everything you could want. The staff were friendly and most helpful, and breakfast was superb, with prompt service and a good range of food. Being on the ground floor, people were able to use the emergency exits for smoking. This meant that the smell of cigarette smoke came into the hotel.

The Hotel smelt a little musty & the rooms where slightly old fashioned (70s) style. We were awaken to loud shouting at 2am which continued untill 5am. Certainly not a relaxing weekend as expected. Also was given a price of £80 but actually paid £99.00 ??????? :(

Reading some of the reviews I would like to say many are correct that the staff are really good I asked for a ground floor room theyd put me in a first floor one at the booking girls on desk changed it no problem its best if you go out to leave key with them as its old style keys breakfasts ok not too bad theres Sainsburys local and local shops for food nearby you can get to Bury and Burnley and Blackburn by bus from near the hotel no real coomplaints except they need to update the transport in their information books the 99 and 139 does not exist its 98 and 141/4 buses that go near and 98 isnt too reliable waited half hour for hourly night service the one night also the 135 and 137 regular buses run near but get off near Kings Road shops
