Central heating in our room didn't work. It was freezing.
The vine is in a brilliant place easy to get to and once there it is all easy walking to the town. Staff are all very pleasant and eager to please. Room was good and nice and warm. Will definitely be returning.
Pillows could have been a bit fluffier.

Where it was situated.
Room was too cold and had to keep asking them to put the heating on. It took 45 mind to get our breakfast . It arrived but wasn't impressed.
Stayed in Room 18 after having stayed exclusively in Room 1. Nice spacious room. As with all "older" buildings the floor boards make a terrible racket. Luckily our room was directly above the dining room and not another guest bedroom. The room itself had everything you would expect for the price.
As with most things at The Vine, attention to detail is just starting to slip. Cobwebs on the landing and also our bathroom do not inspire confidence in the cleaning regime. The bathroom ventilation was chronic, the small window extractor was woefully short on power resulting in a very very steamy bathroom. The bin in the bathroom was broken, a small detail but could so easily be remedied. We have stayed at The Vine approximately half a dozen times usually at the weekend and we have noticed a steady decline. There never seems to be anyone in charge. The duty receptionists have an air of some authority but are often to be found in the outside smoking area "enjoying" a fag and a chat! Indeed most of the staff seem to enjoy a chat (amongst themselves and often with customers waiting!!) We usually give breakfast a miss due to enjoying a lie-in. On the evidence of what was presented on this visit, I'm so glad we do!! Probably the worst "full English" I have ever experienced. The service at breakfast is woeful. Tables full of uncleared dishes and the table we sat at had numerous items missing (side plate, cup, cutlery etc). The breakfast itself was more or less in-edible. Very cheap ingredients, swimming in grease and with a "tainted" taste. The only item that was enjoyed was the "wafer-thin" toast. Our reason for staying so many times at The Vine is shortly to come to an end and on this evidence I am so glad.
Wonderful location Lovely old building, gently modernised Friendly staff Substantial food
I would like the age of the building and its history displayed. More tourist - less commercial traveller. More care with the menu presentation
Staff were very friendly & helped with all queries efficiently. Breakfast freshly cooked & delicious.
Friendly, helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Good food. Would recommend it to anyone. Handy location for shopping, Theatre and Cannock Chase.
We have stayed at The Vine on at least half a dozen occasions. We always request Room 1 as we like the extra space and the fact that you don't have to come through the pub to get to the room. It is directly opposite the kitchens which does lead to some noise but it doesn't bother us. The shower room is very very small however and the room can get rather warm.
It's a bit of a pain that you can never ever check in earlier than the stated 2.00. I'm sure sometimes that the room are ready before then. The shower room could do with re-decoration as there are mould patches beginning to appear. Also breakfast finishes early at 9.00 on weekdays and 10.00 at weekends.
The outside of the Vine looks nice and appears to justify the price.
1. Shower drain blocked had to cut short shower or flood room. 2. No heating after 22.00hrs although I asked for electric heater and they brought one to the room. 3. Room wasn't very clean broken biscuits on the floor from previous occupant or before?
I thought the staff were really Great, the food was really lovely, really good time.
Cannot think of anything
The whole experience at The Vine was very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful, the room was excellent with a very comfortable bed. The food was also excellent
We've stayed at the Vine on numerous occasions. As always the staff are efficient and friendly. We stayed in room 1 again (we requested it in advance as it suits us) and although the shower room/toilet is small the actual bedroom is spacious and clean and tidy. The bed is extremely comfortable and any noise from the kitchen opposite was minimal.
The check in time of 2.00 is always rigorously observed which can be inconvenient, although it is never a problem to leave bags with reception.
