Established in 1912, the North Shore Hotel is set on the Lincolnshire Coast, just 1 mile away from Skegness town centre.
Score from 102 reviews Very good
Meal at the restaurant was very good possibly the best meal I have had for a long time.
Very very overpriced room. It was extremely small and very stuffy. I expected a lot more for £130 a night. We will not be returning
Food and staff
Some parts were a little shabby
Very warm welcome, the bar area was lovely and although we didn't eat the food we saw served looked very good. The room was very clean and comfortable with a large bathroom with a bath.
Staff were all friendly Great choice of quality food Indian or British Only 20mins walk to station
Bed bit small Restaurant very busy but guess because of great food :-)
Staff very friendly, roaring fire lovely, breakfast 10/10
Room was above the restaurant and noisy. Also floorboards in hotel squeaky so also noisy.
Good staff, helpful and courteous. Good location, secluded and peaceful. Old world charm.
"Tiger Prawns" turned out to be four sub atomic particles in a bucket of hot automatic transmission fluid. Plumbing is in desperate need of modernisation.
Hotel had a good atmosphere. Staff were well mannered and very helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Supply of bottled water was a great idea. Good breakfast.
Bathroom was cold and draughty. It was a large room and heated towel rail was inadequate.
Clean well equipped room
Room 11s bathroom had no heating other than electric towel rail. It was very cold. The only problem occurred at check out when they tried to charge me for a drink and a meal that I supposedly had the night before. I don't think they believed that I hadn't had the drink/meal .That said I didn't pay for it.
Room 1 excellent size comfort etc. Good meal in bar.
Further away from station and town than I expected, I should have known from map, but without a car a bit of a walk, not a problem if you do not mind a mile walk each way
the food was very good indeed
Beds were really comfy.hotel warm and nice bar and food facilities were goodb
Booked a double for a couple...but got 2 single beds!
Staff, particularly in restaurant were very helpful and friendly
As it's an old building can be a bit noisy, but not really a problem.
The bed and bathroom
The hallways and stairs
Food was fantastic , and the all the staff 5 star , so helpful , thank you for a great stay
Second time stay, couldn't fault first time
no hot water on sunday morning, complained to reception, was told some body would contact us after we had left no contact, very disappointed in trearment after first stay
The location is very good - drive along a nice avenue to reach the spacious grounds. Ample free parking. Not far from the town centre and seafront, if required. Very good restaurant serving both traditional and Indian meals. Very popular with many tables reserved - always a good sign. Good breakfast, cooked to order by a very friendly staff member. Excellent service throughout my stay. Room nicely decorated, warm and comfortable.
Not a lot of negatives. The hotel decor was a little tired in places but they are currently undergoing refurbishment and there are signs apologising for the disruption. Smallish TV's in rooms with some channels not available due to poor aerial reception. Plumbing (bath taps) in my room was a little challenging to operate and noisy for an hour after use but not a major issue.
Lovely room and ensuite bathroom with lots of power points for charging devices. Good warm bedding.
Only the low height doors. I banged my head a couple of times when I forgot to bend. Expected in such an old property. I am 6'1" (185cm)
The food was second to non as was the service
Room was too warm for my preference even when switched off and window open
I loved the decor of the bedrooms & facilities. I loved the setting of the hotel.
I thought i would like a room at the front (No,7) as it overlooked the green but on the first night a group of drunken men congregated at the main entrance which was below our window. The noise & language was terrible it was like they were in our room, it went on for hours & until very late. it seemed that this is where prople would congregate to either have a drink, a smoke or wait for a taxi, as this is what happened on the 2nd night. I am glad we were only staying 2 nights in that room, a week of noise like that wouuld be awful.
The room was kept very clean and stocked well.
Family rooms are above a noisy bar and restaurant, loud music played past 11pm, requests made to be turned down due to small children not being able to get to sleep but not done so. Worst place to put a family.
Wife & I had a lovely stay at The Vine. We have stayed there before so we know what to expect and we were not disappointed. We will come again.
Warm, friendly and welcoming staff. Quiet location, good sized, clean and comfortable rooms
Somewhat limited menu - when travelling extensively hotel menus become a bit monotonous, whilst the food was very good there is no or limited daily specials to add that bit of variety
All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms and food were excellent.
Couldn't shower the next morning! Spoke to receptionist and was told that the majority of the residents had all showered and they have water pressure problems due to being an old building!
