This charming traditional stone and slate guest house is situated close to the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere. Guests have free use of the leisure facilities at Old England Spa, a short walk away. Each room at Virginia Cottage is individually styled and features a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and facilities for making tea and coffee. All rooms also have a private bathroom with a hairdyer. Wi-Fi is free in the lounge, and there is free parking available just metres away. Virginia Cottage offers a variety of breakfast options, made using locally sourced produce. Lake Windermere can be reached in only a minutes’ walk from the cottage, and Windermere Golf Club is a 5-minute drive away. Everything! The owners of the cottage made us feel welcome from start to finish. The breakfast was lovely every morning and there was loads to choose from. They were extremely helpful with any questions we had. The b n b was 2 mins walk to the lakeside, shops, and places to eat. We would strongly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone thinking of going!!!

This is definitely the hotel that I would recommend to people looking for places to stay in Lake District. Friendly host, great food, comfortable bed....everything you would expect for a great night!

My husband and I booked the Virginia Cottage for our 2nd Wedding anniversary. On arrival we were greeted bu the owner who was very friendly and welcoming, he took his time to explain where everything was and took us up to our room to show us around and also told us where to go for something to eat etc. I don't particularly like staying in guest houses/B&B's as I feel sometimes it can be a bit old fashioned and flowery (I have had bad experiences) but no way did this place make me feel that way. The room was immaculate, the carpets, bedding, bathroom etc. where all very clean. The breakfast was delish the next morning aswell and the lady owner was very friendly and came over for a chat. The location is fantastic next to shops, pubs, lake everything. Overall my husband and I had a great time, I would deffinately go back to Virginia Cottage,Mr & Mrs Weir.

the staff where lovely! the breakfast was yummy! my friend and i 26 and 19 where made to feel really wellcome! great location, would stay there again. rooms where small but that was fine with us and the bed was really comfy :) thank you x

The bed was very comfy, the bathroom with the spa both was very modern although the jets on the bath were very loud, lovely room, and lovely couple that own the cottage. Nothing had a wonderful stay, very nice place

the service was secound to none very friendly and welcoming couldnt do enough for us even gave us an upgrade to a bigger room at no extra cost the breakfastes was great with lots of choices will be returning in the near future thanks for all there help and execellent service

Loved the friendly welcome and warm and friendly manner of the owners and all staff. Lovely room with four poster and spa bath. Location perfect for the lake and the centre of Bowness. Great breakfast Nothing

Service was excellent, all needs catered for. Hotel is in a central location, perfect for a stay in Lake District. The hotel itself is a beautiful building inside and out.

Has a few maintenance issues. Chair in front of mirror very wobbly. Shower head broken from attachment. Electric socket coming away from wall. Floor very uneven. This was supposed to be a deluxe room, toilet and bathroom were cupboards, not rooms. Toilet stank when flushed, toilet door didn't shut properly. Very old fashioned, could do with modernisation of decor especially regarding the "deluxe" claim

Very welcoming staff. Very friendly and accommodating. Excellent reception with a glass of wine waiting for us at check in! Lovely breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Excellent central location. Car parking available which is handy. Nothing.

The great 'nothing is too much to ask' friendly atmosphere. Really felt like 'guests' and not just 'customers' the staff really made it a memorable stay. Oh and the food, facilities and location too ! Couldn't really find anything that wasn't to like !
