Very friendly people who greeted me as I walked around and/or asked for help. We were there on the night of lanterns and watched it from the living room. A strong showing of community participation. I loved it.

A quaint ,typical Lake District town.
A quaint ,typical Lake District town. Windy streets with nooks and crannies and something to discover on every corner. An awesome selection of eateries and cafes. Some like "4 penny cafe" were quirky ,friendly and the food to die for. The scenery was beautiful. The town is clean and easy to navigate. It has a Thursday market. And of course ,the Laurel and Hardy museum.

Friendly locals, good shops, good pub (Rose and Crown) and great Laurel and Hardy museum.
However seagulls so loud at night it was difficult to sleep, and traffic on main through road extremely busy at all times.

A Beautiful little town full of independent small shops making is quite a unique destination when most high streets are dominated by large chain stores. Lots of cafe's and restaurants to choose from. The area is full of historic sites and properties to visit.

Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know...
Having lived in Ulverston for a few months in 2016, I know the town and surroundings fairly well. If you want to spend time, as I do, in a scenic area with both fells/hills and sea nearby, this could be the place for you! The town is small enough, if you want to avoid the stress and hassle of a larger town or city. And yet there are enough descent places to enjoy a good meal and/or a drink. There is a theatre/concert hall with a good programme of events, and a cinema. And there is often folk music in one of the pubs. Places to visit include the birthplace of John Barrow (mariner and explorer), a museum celebrating Laurel and Hardy (Stan Laurel was a native of Ulverston), and Swarthmoor Hall which played a key role in the beginnings of Quakerism in the 17th century. There is a fine view of the town and the beautiful surroundings from the top of Hoad Hill - just a short climb from the edge of the town.

Looks are deceptive...!!
Looks are deceptive...!!
When you approach the road leading to the house, you will have a feeling will it be worth..!! But once you enter the house you realize the ambiance is so great...
You will have everything you need..!!!
Clean, neat and well maintained house.
Kitchen with all kinds of utensils and equipment which can support a complete family.
WiFi (I don't remember mentioning this in the website).
Host was ready to help at anytime. (We had issues with the boiler due to a settings change and host was happy to come in and rectify the issue).
Paid parking is close by and it is free from 6pm to 8am.
This is a real gem, lovely hotel, and for a solo female traveler looking for a cozy quiet hotel this is great. The single room was perfect, the separate bathroom was huge, and the team is really welcoming. The breakfast was great, freshly made and good way to start the day. Internet is up to speed, and I could have a work call without problems. All in all, I would definitely come back when I'm in Cumbria. Ulverston is a lovely town, with food and shops, easy access to train (I few to Manchester and took train up)
The Butler’s House is superb! It is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed (and more!) for a short stay. The homemade lemon drizzle cake that Mel had left for us was amazing! Staying in The Lakes is normally very expensive but Ulverston is a great location to access the national park. We loved the fact that you could drive to somewhere in the day for a walk and then stroll into the town centre for food and drinks in the evening without the need for a taxi.
A lovely stay with Sarah. She made us very welcome, dog friendly and a lovely breakfast. She even helped us order a Pizza in from town as we arrived late. You literally feel like you are at home because of Sarah's lovely personality. Very quiet on a night. Approximately half hour walk in to town and 15minute walk to the beach or Canal foot to the Bay Horse where you can get an evening meal. Ulverston is a lovely town, near to Coniston and the old man walk.
I had a dog friendly 1 bedroom apartment. Very good location for the town of Ulverston, the apartment was spotless, the facilities were great. Tea, cereal, toothbrush, slippers and toilletries provided. I would absolutely return here, nearby parking available (£6 for a full day between 8 and 6 but obviously if you’re visiting the lakes you only pay for the time your car is parked). Great location to get to the lakes, a lovely, helpful owner. Thanks a lot.
Lovely property conveniently situated for the Lake District national park. The house was super clean & comfortable for our family of 5 and small dog. Bedrooms were gorgeous, modern kitchen and spacious living room. Also, the owner was very helpful and made several excellent recommendations for walks, restaurants etc. Highly recommended.
The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and way bigger than I expected! The local area was also lovely and great location to look around the Lake District. The host was incredibly responsive, I booked very last minute and was due to arrive very late in the evening but they were very accommodating and flexible. Would love to stay here again!
Location was excellent - 1 minute fromm the town centre and quiet.
Facilities were superb - very much a home-from-home and fully equipped. All the essentials were also in place (dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc) so I hope my contribution of laundry liquid (I had muddy cycling kit to deal with) added to the stoocks :)
The property and surroundings are perfect. Amazing value for money. It’s great how close to all the amenities you’re and Ulverston is a great night out. The beds are really comfy and Anastasia who runs the show is lovely and you can even book in for a massage at the spa which I did for my partner and she loved it.
We loved this property - everything we wanted for our short break in Ulverston. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard. We appreciated the smart TV and access to Netflixs etc. The property is very central and a great location for the restaurants we wanted to visit. Would definitely recommend.
It's wonderful to be able to stay at this little refuge that is quiet and self contained. It's nice and simple with everything I need and I like the little patio and flowers in the shrubs. It's very near Ford Park and handy for Ulverston town centre. Would highly recommend. The hosts are very pleasant.
Very clean and well appointed kitchen & living room.
Kitchen had some basic food items and the host left a large lemon cake which was great.
Bathroom was large and well appointed.
Good location for walking into Ulverston center.
The location is exactly as explained, not in Ulverston center and that was something I was looking for so it was great for me.
Also it’s a farm so you can catch great sleep throughout the night, it’s very quiet!
The hotel itself is lovely. The rooms are basic, but clean. The staff were very helpful. Had a full English breakfast, which at £12.95, was on the pricey side, but delicious. Central position in Ulveston.
Everything we needed for home from home accommodation, the shower was fabulous. Everything clean & spotless. Right near the town centre with shops, pubs & restaurants. WiFi was adequate.
Brilliant for 2 couples a bathroom each and toilet downstairs everything you could need parking and very close to town centre but quiet ,we will stay again .
