Comfy rooms and beds
Breakfast - slow in filling up various food buffet. Not enough staff around for hot water, cutlery or clearing the tables.
While we were sleeping, we were awoken by our phone charger which had been blown out of the socket- and was in 3 parts... The charger was also black rather than white, it was also very damaged. This was a scary experience, as I felt the other electrics would blow up while we were sleeping. Other than the faulty electrics in our room- we had an enjoyable stay.
Food was good
A bottle of water for £3.80,that is way too much. Bar shut (cashed up) to early.
Bedroom was clean. Breakfast was fine.
Staff seemed stressed, lacking attentiveness and politeness, especially upon check-in. Our Twin room (which we had booked through Booking.com, ticking the King/Twin Room option for 1 Adult, 1 Child) was not ready/allocated to us. We were told by Reception staff that you have to ask specifically for a Twin in 'special instructions' because the hotel is so busy with coach parties.... Some staff members burst into our room late in evening, whilst we were in our beds: I had to dress and go to reception to complain/ask what on earth was happening. My young son was very upset and alarmed. Soundproofing between rooms clearly inadequate as we could hear coughing and conversations next door. Swimming pool is far more cramped than in pictures and no scope for lane swimming. Showers in women's changing area were not clean and stank of urine. Last but not least, we were overcharged on checkout. (We have stayed in many Marriotts: this has not been our experience of others - the one at Peterborough in particular was great.)
Great beds, pool, sauna, worth staying
I thought they looked tired and badly lit. It had no atmosphere or character.
This Hotel is handy for the M25 and Rail connections to London. I found the staff very helpful to all my needs. I have used this Hotel before when I visit family close by.
Quiet, friendly, comfy and everything you needed
Nice pool and staff
The Bar tarrifs are an absolute joke
Hotel was very clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly
I didn't like having to hold a deposit on a card as I had not intended to use my card at all that weekend- I am still awaiting the deposit to show back in my account. Bath was also ridiculously narrow so could not lie in the bath and relax.
Comfortable bed and good facilities. Use of swimming pool a nice extra. Make sure you ask for a room away from the motorway.
Everything, staff very helpful, clean room and lovely pool and spa area. Breakfast was superb everything was available and for a reasonable time. Can't wait to come back.
nothing I can think of, Marriott had thought of everything.
The bed was lovely size
On arrival we were given no information about the hotel. Check out time, whether we could use the leisure club, room service, morning call, the normal you would expect. Also I had to ask regarding my car as I saw car park charge signs had I not no doubt I would of ended up with a car park ticket. A £50 'deposit' was taken from my debit card however in the morning when I asked about this being refunded back when checking out the member of staff looked like she had no idea why that had been done
Never got a wink of sleep while being held hostage in my room from what can only be described as a full scale riot in the hallways of the hotel. The next morning staff were adamant nothing untoward happened the night before. Ummmm interesting.
This is a first class hotel, perfectly positioned just off the motorway.Lovely bedroom, comforable beds, food and drink not overly expensive. We would definately stay again.
very good location, friendly staff, good size bedrooms and comfortable beds.
not keen on breakfast buffets where all the warmed food is swimming in grease and water/oil for the mushrooms. we have an aversion to thick mugs for tee and coffee but suppose we are old fashioned.
Spa pool area breakfast was very good
Room bit pricey for the stay
Generally fine and what I expected
The duvet was too thin. The air con either went too hot or suddenly then cold so switched it off....but the duvet was too thin. I asked for another at 3 am which helped. The receptionist in the morning struggled to contain her indifference when I mentioned it and assumed I was trying to get a discount. I just wanted a good night's sleep!
everything thankyou for an excellent stay
Very comfortable bed
Sat nav didn't take us to the right location and it was then complicated to find
I loved the location of the hotel it made me feel relaxed, the purpose of our trip was to celebrate wedding anniversary and I loved the bar in the hotel we used it quite a bit to have our drinks and chill out before our main meal.
I thought the food in the restaurant was too little on the plate and cost too much and did not have a varied choice, however the breakfast was expectional. I would use the hotel again but would make sure to eat at a restaurant first and just use the bar for drinks and snacks.
We had a problem with a drinks order (room service) but it got resolved speedily and efficiently.
Waltham Abbey Marriot, though it is a good hotel with nice facilities and clean, it's location is not good for travellers that travel without car. It is isolated in a roral area in the country side where there are no shops around. The rooms have no mini bar facility and the fridge was empty. I was so thirsty at mid night where I had to request the reception to provide me with drinking water who still unable to provide but give little from their own.
Reception service was really efficient and welcoming. Day shift on booking out equally helpful and reassuring. Dealt with our complaint very well in the morning. Well done!
The room smelt damp. Found a mid sized bug under the pillow. Too tired after a very long day to complain at the time. Felt let down and slept with the windows open - on the ground floor and felt slightly insecure about it. Too tired to fight!!
Clean, comfortable, breakfast, bed.
No lift facilities to 1st floor.
