Friendly staff lovely surroundings Evening meal superb
Spa facilities overbooked Long wait for breakfast plates and food
Lovely rooms and beautiful grounds.
Pool area needs an upgrade
our room had the windows screwed shut and despite the aircon was too stuffy. the fuction room we had our wedding in had no opening windows and got far too warm during our meal so much so we had to open the fre doors which then blew too much wind into the room, not good enough at this level.also we thought the carpets generaly could do with a change
Gym spa pool
Frisby golf and crazy golf gone
Really enjoyed the saunas, and the spa facilities.
Did not like the menu- unsuitable for vegetarians, just 1 choice of main meal and if staying more than one night this is not good enough. Ordered the spiced pumpkin ravioli and was served 3 ravioli on a plate costing £13.00, prices not appropriate as standard of meal not worthy but as vegetarian only choice, was held to ransom.
Very friendly staff, extremely clean rooms, great grounds.
Cost of breakfast extortionate! No veggie options for breakfast. Children's swimming lesson in the pool which was annoying when looking forward to a swim
lovely hotel .nice surroundings lovely walks
woke up by fire alarm twice bar prices pricey smell of dogs in the bar windows in swimming pool need a good clean staff lacking experience
The hotel was good value for money. The gym and sauna were a nice bonus. The room was nice and clean. The staff were very accommodating. walking around the grounds and sitting by the lake.
Not enough seating facilities for people who haven't booked for the restaurant in the bar area because people who had booked the restaurant waited at the bar tables. Next time we visit we will know to book in advance for the restaurant and massage facilities.
Grounds and area
Not being able to book a seat in restaurant some staff a bit aloof .
Location & peace & quiet - Lovely run in the morning through the grounds
Confusing booking in procedure - Waited 5 mins + to be checked in , only to be told that I had to go to another location as there are 2 hotels called Walton Hall & Walton Hotel Signs were confusing & staff were not exactly warm & welcoming Wi fi @ a decent download rate was expensive @ £6 for 4 hours a complete rip off... why do hotels persist in this - they must know it undermines how customers feel about staying there again
Beautiful quiet location and good food.
Poor quality of building work. Things in the room were loose and fastenings such as screws and gaps were exposed etc
Room service was quick and efficient albeit the food was fairly average.
Uncomfortable mattress, no TV signal so only 2 or 3 channels worked, room was a little pokey. NO phone signal and the free wifi was pretty much non-existent forcing you to pay for the privilege.
Walking round the grounds, and feeding the wildlife. Rooms are clean and comfortable
Did not like the tea and coffee machines at breakfast, it just dosnt compare to a nice fresh jug on your table
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern. We had a nice view of the internal garden. I did use the pool and steam room. The surrounding grounds looked very nice and there was also a lot of choice for breakfast.
The price was the major negative point. We didn't feel that we got much more for our money than we had the night before staying at a lost-cost chain hotel. At breakfast, staff were openly complaining that they were understaffed, the breakfast area was very crowded and we felt lucky to get a table. They also kept running out of plates for the cooked breakfast, half of which wasn't hot when I dished it on to my plate. Lastly, we weren't asked if everything was OK with our stay when we checked out. This is a minor point but we have always been asked this at other hotels.
Hotel location, grounds, rooms, breakfast!
Perhaps air conditioning in rooms would be a consideration? Our room was rather warm.
An amazing place! I travelled worldwide for 30 years in my career in top hotels and I reckon the Walton beats them all! Such a peaceful, beautiful setting. All the staff were so helpful and attentive - Amy on reception was super. Thank you for giving us a fantastic weekend. We shall be back!
Stunning building in beautiful grounds.
The staff were not very welcoming or friendly. For what was advertised as a 4 star hotel, our room was pretty basic. There was not so much as a complimentary bottle of water in the room and I'd have expected a bath robe, but there weren't any. Although we paid a 'Special Deal' rate of £80 for 1 night (which was reasonable), it was supposedly down from an original price of £400 !!! All I can say is that if I'd paid £400 I'd have been VERY unhappy ! Indeed, I'd say it would have been poor value if it was any more than £80.
Room was very adequate. Clean, great shower etc.
Changing room dirty Pool not worth it if you want to swim. Very run down 'health club' Far too busy to relax on Saturday. Bar mixed with reception area felt very cheap and encouraged bad smells. Breakfast was a nightmare. Overpriced.
The setting of the hotel was lovely, the room was comfortable, a good night's sleep.
Check-in was really busy when we arrived, staff in general in the hotel were a little unhelpful - we asked for a taxi to be booked and they just gave us a scribbled list of numbers to do it ourselves, 2 of which didn't work.
loved the setting, the rooms were cosy but modern & very clean & comfortablle. staff very friendly and food excellent..love the fact that dogs are welcome too
The location the staff friendly at all times. Great walks
The smoke alarm in the bedroom woke us up at 8am as someone burnt their toast in the restaurant. I had a steak in the restaurant on the Saturday nite. Great presentation but steak was that tough & chewy I sent it back. Also the couple who sat near us sent their steaks back as same problem. . I declined having my steak replaced as was put off at that stage.
Bed's comfort Location was amazing (Views) Swimming pool / Gym Cost of the room was reasonable but dead wasps put my wife off the stay.
No Fridge when advertised Dead Wasps all over my floor in my room and in the hallway leading to my room Breakfast - No buffet option Bar Prices Transport links to other places - waited 1.5 hours for taxi and still nothing showed, not hotels fault to a certain extent but there is no local taxi firms to help in this type of situation. Stay was tainted by all these factors and thats why I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
The restaurant was booked out the first evening. After waiting an hour for my bar meal - my friend having beeb brought hers after 20 mins - it was virtually inedible and not as described on the menu (veggie option as not much choice from others and expensive for what the meals were). Having looked at the restaurant menu and seen the prices we decided to eat out the following evening which was a much better experience.
Lovely location Great facilities Good food
