The hotel, restaurant, location all good
The staff were terrible. This was not an isolated incidence either. Had to deal with them over a matter of months due to a local wedding. Unhelpful. Grumpy. And really show no level of service. They should be embarrassed.
We loved Walton Park. It was so old-world hotel hospitality with a very comfortable and natural touch. We particularly loved the 1936 lift. The whole place reeked of stories and history. Loved it!
That we didn't have time to stay longer!
Helpful staff and beautiful view across the Severn estuary.
The bathrooms need refurbishing with improved showers. TV reception is poor.
Large room. Breakfast. Sea view.
Noise - was warned there would be music til 12.30am (wedding party) but told would not hear it as on top floor; not so, noise was so loud sleep was not possible until all rowdy guests had gone to bed around 2am. Dinner - very poor eg grey pate, no seasoning used in any dish.
Location and staff were good
Room décor and furnishing were poor and dowdy. Chairs etc very badly worn.
excellent staff , great breakfast excellent views and good restaurant
Bar menu could do with expanding
I had a room with view over Channel; the room was quite large and bathroom satisfactory
Hairdryer - burnt red, smoked and smelled when switched on; Phone did'nt work to report it so had to get dressed to go to reception; Mattress on one bed should have been discarded years ago; the other bed may have been slightly better but I slept on top of duvet in order to ensure sleep; Crumpled cellophane under tv; red sequin in bathroom indicating cleaning not really thorough; Film crew outside my room and along the corridor the following morning with all their paraphanalia including coffee urn, sound and lighting equip and cameras - with the resulting confusion. Nobody told me this would be my 'morning call'. Not a good stay.
room was very clean and recently decorated
wi fi did not reach the room but i was at the top and as far away from the recpetion as you could be for the price no complaints
Stunning views over estuary
Breakfast not included
Room clean but very very cold. beds nice and comfy. Great view. Duty manager Paddy very friendly and helpful.
corridors etc very dirty and in need of maintenance. Lighting only controlled by light switch outside bedroom door with no lamps this is very dangerous in Dar. Good in restaurant very poor quality and overpriced for what it is.
I liked the whole stay..staff were very good. great location for a stop over..good breakfast.
Just one tiny thing! the car park looked very junky.
Poor decoration of rooms and the hotel in general. Had to change rooms three times. Room 1 no handles on windows and unable to close.room 2 smelt of drains and the mattress on the bed should have been thrown out.room 3 just about acceptable
Views across estuary
Car Park - blocked by workmen on arrival and space limited. Meal times - we asked for 7.30pm but could not oblige until 8.15pm. Next night booked for 7.30pm but hotel changed time to 7.00pm. Also meals more expensive than at nearby Webbington Hotel where we stayed before Walton.
Comfortable beds. Severn views. Quiet bedroom. Friendly reception
Drab lounge furniture.Grey decor Victorian lift. Dreadful bar food Lack of car park space markings Additional breakfast charges Need to carry out a big facelift
The food, being woken up at half seven by house keeping
Food was good, in both the bistro and the dining room. Lovely location
Not given the sea-view room we booked (only reason for staying here). When checking in we were informed that there was a wedding on that evening and so our room had been moved to back of hotel. When we said we were not prepared to accept this we were given a room with a view - an awful room downstairs next to the kitchen. This is not acceptable, and the receptionist was not prepared to see out point of view regarding our booking.
Views from hotel. Restaurant and the restaurant staff. Dinner well cooked and tasty. Breakfast good. Barman in bar area - bit disinterested in his job.
Small rooms. Creaky bed. Lack of "owner ship" to sort out problem. Shabby chic, needed smartening up.
The manager moved us to a more comfortable room when I pointed out lacunas in the original room.
The poor quality of the fittings in the first room.
Stunning views lovely old building breakfast staff friendly
Blowing a gale outside and our window didn't close my fault should have asked to move ended up cold all night. Also in the corner of the fifth floor with clear water damage marks and a drip with a bucket to collect outside our door!
The location, Paula, the helpful lady on reception and the quaint old lift.
Not having breakfast delivered when ordered - we had to go out at 5.30 am hungry. Poor service and food in the restaurant. Noisy functions. Lumpy mattress
The hotel public areas are tastefully decorated and furnished with stunning views. The staff are friendly, efficient, and above all accommodating. The food is excellent.
Some rooms are still awaiting refurbishment so it is worth booking a superior room with seaview.
Hidden costs. Expect breakfast to be included
Staff were nice, the restaurant was very good and food was lovely.
says on website renovated - must have been some time ago the bathroom looked tired and there were cracked tiles on the side of the bath. Bed creaked and springs were coming through in a couple of places. Everything creaked, the bed, the floorboards, the stairs. Room was nothing like photos on internet and was disappointed shower was in bath rather than walk in shower cubicle. Booked based on the photos as find it difficult to climb into a bath. Could not connect to WiFi, reception tried resetting but still did not work.
Great location and really nice staffs, the sea view was wanderful.
I had several bites on the body, and believe it may have been bed bugs.
