Location and staff were good
Room décor and furnishing were poor and dowdy. Chairs etc very badly worn.
excellent staff , great breakfast excellent views and good restaurant
Bar menu could do with expanding
Stunning views over estuary
Breakfast not included
Room clean but very very cold. beds nice and comfy. Great view. Duty manager Paddy very friendly and helpful.
corridors etc very dirty and in need of maintenance. Lighting only controlled by light switch outside bedroom door with no lamps this is very dangerous in Dar. Good in restaurant very poor quality and overpriced for what it is.
Poor decoration of rooms and the hotel in general. Had to change rooms three times. Room 1 no handles on windows and unable to close.room 2 smelt of drains and the mattress on the bed should have been thrown out.room 3 just about acceptable
The food, being woken up at half seven by house keeping
The manager moved us to a more comfortable room when I pointed out lacunas in the original room.
The poor quality of the fittings in the first room.
The location, Paula, the helpful lady on reception and the quaint old lift.
Not having breakfast delivered when ordered - we had to go out at 5.30 am hungry. Poor service and food in the restaurant. Noisy functions. Lumpy mattress
The hotel public areas are tastefully decorated and furnished with stunning views. The staff are friendly, efficient, and above all accommodating. The food is excellent.
Some rooms are still awaiting refurbishment so it is worth booking a superior room with seaview.
Hidden costs. Expect breakfast to be included
Staff were nice, the restaurant was very good and food was lovely.
says on website renovated - must have been some time ago the bathroom looked tired and there were cracked tiles on the side of the bath. Bed creaked and springs were coming through in a couple of places. Everything creaked, the bed, the floorboards, the stairs. Room was nothing like photos on internet and was disappointed shower was in bath rather than walk in shower cubicle. Booked based on the photos as find it difficult to climb into a bath. Could not connect to WiFi, reception tried resetting but still did not work.
Great location and really nice staffs, the sea view was wanderful.
I had several bites on the body, and believe it may have been bed bugs.
Lovely location. Lots of character.
Room was very large ,and clean, and thought it was good value for money. would def stay here again
The four poster bed looked lovely but was very wobbly and noisy
Friendly staff and character of the place. Lovely location.
Lovely comfortable rooms. Very friendly welcome.
Restaurant excellent fresh cooked dinner. Breakfast buffet v good. Restaurant staff pleasant and v helpful. View across Bristol channel from table great. Shabby elegance in hotel.
Return trip. First room allocated had drain problems in bathroom with smell. Second room offered was supposed to be non smoking but had previously been used by smoker. Staff member said this impossible. However we found cig butts on window sill. Being tired after our journey we accepted room. The bed creaked. Room was otherwise pleasant and clean.
Nice view of estuary. Pleasant staff.
We were road weary, and had a mid-evening dinner in the well renovated bar our first night (nice sunset view in there)--our drinks were fine. The food we tried in the bar was below average; due to its lower quality we didn't try it again during our 4 night stay. There is potential charm in this older building, but the room finishes are tired and/or worn. It was clean, but only functional.
Very good hotel, excellent food and good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful and would recommend the hotel to friends
Room was rather stuffy due to the hot weather and the small window did not let in enough air, otherwise very happy with room.
Nice view, good price
It's too old, must be completely renovated; it is noisy and the bathroom is uncomfortable and impractical
This hotel was beyond my wildest dreams. If you want a peaceful stay in idyllic conditions with perfect staff, this is the place. All the people who work there are helpful, warm, and friendly.
There is nothing to dislike.
One member of staff not friendly towards my dog
Great hotel, we only stayed one night and had a room with a sea view. The vista was fantastic. The hotel does need a little sprucing up in parts but it is only minor. The staff were excellent giving us useful advice re local restaurants. If we are in the area again we will use his hotel.
Sea view was excellent. Size of room was excellent with a huge window looking out onto the sea. Staff were friendly & helpful.
This hotel is nothing short of dirty. As soon as we arrived onto the carpark we were disappointed. Very rough, uneven ground. Rubbish bins all on show. First impression when entering hotel was not good. The carpet was very grubby & dirty. Skirting boards & radiators hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. Our toilet in our room had stains around the fixtures & fittings. The little tray that held the coffee, tea etc was very dirty inside. I have never had to write a review like this before but, this hotel really does need to sort out the housekeeping, it is by no means meeting the standards you would expect when paying for a room here. The rooms downstairs are very big but, the place lacks sole & personality. This place needs such a lot of improvements. It could be a wonderful place. Not everything is down to a lack of money, housekeeping should be brought up to standards & maintained throughout. We chose not to eat here, we did not feel comfortable with the cleanliness & thought the food prices were way to high for the quality of the hotel.
