Our first impression was that the owners were rather "strict". Having stayed there in such clean and comfortable room and had breakfast cooked and served by an absolutely lovely host, we would recommend this little hotel to anyone. (We can understand that a lot of people need instructions on how to behave and use an establishment.) I would have like a cup of tea in the morning in my room, but everything else made up for this loss.

(1) Being told on arrival that the wearing of shoes within the house was forbidden! (2) The inclusion of baked beans and a canned tomato in the breakfast (fried bacon) was not acceptable.

You cant fault the hospitality of Clive and Linda! and the B'fasts definatly keep you full until the evening, also the B&B is very clean and neat. The B&B is a bit too far away from, the main beach on Hayling island, but combined with the local coastal walks, and the local pubs in walking distance, it is a very minor issue if you are not a beach lover!

The accommodation was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Linda and Clive were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was perfectly cooked. We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in our room. We understand the reasons for not supplying it and Clive and Linda would happily have made us tea or coffee but we do like a cuppa first thing in the morning.

I had already read that I would be asked to take my shoes off, so not a problem, and the lodge had a lovely feel about it anyway. Very welcoming indeed. I would always stay there if I was visiting that area again. Excellent

We stayed at the Waratah Lodge weekend of 21st January 2012. Lynn and Clive the owners of the Lodge were very friendly and welcoming and the place was very comfortable and spotless. We were attending the Boogaloo Blues Festival nearby, supporting our favourite band, Little Devils. We had difficulty getting a taxi on the Sunday morning to go meet friends and Clive was extremely helpful and drove us to our destination - we were very grateful - where else would go out of their way for their guests? We highly recommend the Waratah Lodge. regards Catherine, London Lynn, I promised I would send you the link to Little Devils Blues Band - it is www.littledevilmusic.com

What a smashing place and Clive and Linda are very down to Earth. The room was gleaming and the attention to detail was superb. Within walking distance are to smashing Pubs and Portsmourh took me 10 minutes even at peak time. If you have business in Portsmouth but want a more personal family atmosphere then the Waratah Lodge is for you. Will be booking again Chuck Berry.

It's more like a family home than a hotel. I realy recommand this lodge to travellers, who would like to taste the real living in England. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also excellent. Our room was nice, and clean. Many thanks again.
