- Very helpful and friendly staff in the reception
The setting The food The staff
No fridge in room
The hotel is set up in an old mansion with beautiful surroundings in the middle of nature. The staff is very helpful and friendly even though in some cases inexperienced. We also dined in the restaurant the first evening and were not let down. It was very good.
One night we stayed in a room (#48) with a queen size bed. This bed was too small, mattress was lumpy and not supported in the middle. We didn't sleep well that night. The other night we stayed in a room (#47) with a king size bed. This bed was perfect! Please replace the bed in room #48!
Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom.
Booking.com gave us wrong check in time. It is 15.00 not 14.00. Room was dusty on arrival but it was cleaned for the next day.
nice place, clean, green, good area
Reception or the manager seem to be irresponsible and do not train the stuff or not a proper paperwork to determine who has already been charged and how so it results in double charges on the customer card, a bit slow to react as well & correct.
Rooms tired and need updating, staff need training, breakfast very mediocre, radiator didn't work, could go on.
We stayed for one night to attend a wedding nearby, and took our one year old with us, who has a couple of food allergies. The staff could not have been more helpful, and the chef cooked up some food specially for our little boy. We were very happy and would look to use the hotel again if we are in the area.
Would probably be pretty hot during a hot day as no AC. But this didn't really bother us during our visit, so no real negatives to report.
The food and restaurant, although compact, was good. The property and its setting was excellent. The annexes (The Grange etc) were well appointed and better than the main house. Quieter and better decorated. Staff were very helpful, polite and pleasant. Comfortable bed.
The rooms in the main house were tired and in need of an overhaul. Not all rooms had a view of the lovely surroundings. The rooms on the first floor of the annex (Grange) only had a skylight window which was disappointing. During our visit there was nobody at the reception in the Grange so felt somewhat isolated had we needed to contact anyone. There was no information about meal-times in the room. We were told breakfast would be available in the Grange but when we arrived there was nothing so realised it must be in the main house which it was. ~It could do with a swimming pool. No info where we were about about the facilities in the Spa. Had mainly a corporate feel rather than leisure Hotel. Sitting area and bar could do with an overhaul to give it more atmosphere.
The comfort of the room
Not very disabled friendly as lots of stairs
Evening meal served in a cardboard box :(
Having my special night completely ruined by being sent to two other hotels and being offered a hovel of an alternative room & the complete lack of customer care...
Very comfortable and silent place in the nature. Helpfull staff. I have been there for business education.
the grounds and surrounding area
check in was told we could not check in until 3.00pm even through that we had our confirmation paper with us that check in was at 2.00pm compuyer systems was down that day also the bed in room 48 in the grange was not big another for 2 people also the bar in the shower room very unstable
Nice comfortable room in excellent grounds
Very limited menu in restaurant
Stayed at this hotel before, the location is fantastic nice and quiet.
Was disapointed with room service they got our order mixed up twice which ended up with a cold dinner!!
The locatoon is fantastic and the rooms werr very clean. Good value for money
I ordered the food and asked for plates. No plates or cutlery arrived. I ordered a pulled pork baguette and what arrived was belly pork in a burger bun and was cold. Would not order food from room service on our next stay
All staff were friendly and willing, but we would especially like to compliment the young woman who served us in the restaurant. She was unflappable in dealing with two fussy 'mature' travellers from Australia. Our experience was directly the opposite to some of the reviews we read before booking.
To be honest reading some of the reviews I almost cancelled this hotel, and I'm so glad I didn't. The house and grounds are beautiful, the staff were all very helpful and friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant - 3 courses for £15 and it was fabulous. Our room was in The Grange, which is NOT a 15 minute walk unless you are maybe crawling back from the bar, its only a few minutes through the scenic route, and maybe 5 at a slow dander down the drive. The room was grand, clean, comfortable, with a fan and ironing board if needed. The bed was a tad short for my partner, but then at 6'5" most are. We would definitely recommend this hotel, so glad we decided not to cancel as we would have missed a beautiful evening.
nothing...all was good
Room in annexe away from main building, with no breakfast facility or bar Went to check in with luggage, only to have to take it all back outside again Poor reception staff - no sense of welcome: just another check in to do.
Good parking close to the main house. Very comfortable bed and an excellent shower. It was good to be in the main house and not any of the side houses.
TV reception in the main house was poor and there were obvious cracks and plaster missing in the main bathroom. I was in a room over reception and it was noisy overnight with people coming in and out of the main house.
I'VE STAYED AT 2 DV. HOTELS AND REQUESTED AN EARLY MORNING CALL ON BOTH OCCASIONS. I DIDN'T RECEIVE A CALL ON EITHER OCCASION
Very good location
Poor service and menu in the Grange Not allowed to use the main building for food because of the weddings Disastrous room check - allocated room occupied.
quite and peaceful
The staff were helpful and friendly.
Bed was so uncomfortable. I barely slept and woke up with a really bad back.
