Comfortable Bed, clean room
Value for money - Overpriced
The rooms were large and the bed was comfy which is always good when you stay away from home on a regular basis.
The cost of the breakfast was high and the quality away from the main business was only average on one of the two mornings I stayed this week.
Restaurant was very good. Prefer to be in the main building but a previous stay in the ???? was good and the room had French doors to an outside patio, which would suit my smoking wife very well.
Not a lot.
Staff, restauramt, facilities
room 17 , with heating i could not alter and next to the kitchen extraction(noise not smell)
Pretty grounds Nice bathroom Comfy beds Friendly staff
Scruffy room Scuffs and scratches on the walls Stains on the carpet Stayed in the annex, miles away from the main hotel so felt like a travel lodge
The location was quiet and peaceful. The room was good and comfy and the breakfast was good and lots of it.
The restaurant/food facilities in the evening were not great. Went to a pub just up the road but they didn't serve food in the evenings so had to go to the next pub which turned out to be excellent.
Very good quality hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights and on returning the on the second day room had not been cleaned and bed not made!
Reception staff VERY VERY helpfull. I only stayed 1 night , never tried the restraunt or any other facilities.
The staff, each and everyone one of them were fantastic, upbeat dispite having to apologise for dirty hotel rooms, damp windows, slow food from kitchen, wrong food from kitchen. Totally amazing team, I would give them a job at my hotel tomorrow.
Small tight loaf room because it lacked character. Black mould on windows. Dirty blanket on bed although just the top one. Main bed lined clean. Wallpaper falling off walls. Paint falling off walls. Dirty bathrooms and bedroom furniture that desperately need deep clean. I even found some one dental stick. Low batteries in TV remote. No glasses in room and no water. Dusty beside lights and generally bad upkeep of hotel.
Staff friendly Breakfast 1st class Rooms comfortable
Staff and overall feel of a country house hotel
The common area for Bar and Lounge needs a bit of redesign to make it more cosy if you are in small groups
Bed was comfortable & clean albeit on the small size for a Superior double room.
For a Superior room it was dark dingy & small with grubby carpets. The bath had chips & some of the tile grouting was black or missing. Noisy central heating pipes all night long despite radiators turned off & housekeeping in next door room awakened you very early with incessant talking. We had little sleep & would not chose to stay again.
Set in Lovely woodland surroundings even though only only 10 mins from M3 for easy access.
Hotel layout a little disjointed. Entrance to Grounds of the Hotel poorly lit at the road and easy to miss as i did the first time in the dark.
Room was comfortable but small , the bed for a change in a hotel wasn't too hard I think you were using a mattress topper. The view from the bedroom was lovely but exposed as there were no net curtains and low windows.
Found it difficult to find the main reception on a building of this grandeur I wasn't expecting to enter it from a small side door! Large mirror in the bedroom that wasn't wall mounted & propped up against the wall tight on the window made it difficult to use & potentially dangerous. All the mirrors were not sufficiently well lite to enable easy application of ones make up. Breakfast was good once we persuaded the staff to produce fried eggs that weren't hard which had obviously happened from being under the heated lamps too long. The food area was extremely hot and over powering mainly because it was an extremely small room with no ventilation.
- Very helpful and friendly staff in the reception
The setting The food The staff
No fridge in room
The hotel is set up in an old mansion with beautiful surroundings in the middle of nature. The staff is very helpful and friendly even though in some cases inexperienced. We also dined in the restaurant the first evening and were not let down. It was very good.
One night we stayed in a room (#48) with a queen size bed. This bed was too small, mattress was lumpy and not supported in the middle. We didn't sleep well that night. The other night we stayed in a room (#47) with a king size bed. This bed was perfect! Please replace the bed in room #48!
Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom.
Booking.com gave us wrong check in time. It is 15.00 not 14.00. Room was dusty on arrival but it was cleaned for the next day.
nice place, clean, green, good area
Reception or the manager seem to be irresponsible and do not train the stuff or not a proper paperwork to determine who has already been charged and how so it results in double charges on the customer card, a bit slow to react as well & correct.
Rooms tired and need updating, staff need training, breakfast very mediocre, radiator didn't work, could go on.
We stayed for one night to attend a wedding nearby, and took our one year old with us, who has a couple of food allergies. The staff could not have been more helpful, and the chef cooked up some food specially for our little boy. We were very happy and would look to use the hotel again if we are in the area.
Would probably be pretty hot during a hot day as no AC. But this didn't really bother us during our visit, so no real negatives to report.
The food and restaurant, although compact, was good. The property and its setting was excellent. The annexes (The Grange etc) were well appointed and better than the main house. Quieter and better decorated. Staff were very helpful, polite and pleasant. Comfortable bed.
The rooms in the main house were tired and in need of an overhaul. Not all rooms had a view of the lovely surroundings. The rooms on the first floor of the annex (Grange) only had a skylight window which was disappointing. During our visit there was nobody at the reception in the Grange so felt somewhat isolated had we needed to contact anyone. There was no information about meal-times in the room. We were told breakfast would be available in the Grange but when we arrived there was nothing so realised it must be in the main house which it was. ~It could do with a swimming pool. No info where we were about about the facilities in the Spa. Had mainly a corporate feel rather than leisure Hotel. Sitting area and bar could do with an overhaul to give it more atmosphere.
The comfort of the room
Not very disabled friendly as lots of stairs
Evening meal served in a cardboard box :(
