Beautiful hotel but very disappointed with evening meal portions. We paid £17.00 per main course for what appeared to be a child's portion in comparison to nearby restaurants. We ate out after the first evening and have recommended to friends that they do likewise. Lovely breakfast though!
This hotel exceed our expectations,we loved the hotel it was verry welcoming cosy and our room was beautiful The food was excellent it bit more expensive than we normally pay but saying that it was worth every penny for our christmas treat.
The cosy atmosphere in the evening by the natural fire and the local ales! Gorgeous food. Would highly recommend.
Hopgarden room was beautiful and so comfortable. Nice to have the cosy bar area and the lovely restaurant. Loved the water flowing through the village and the walk to Upper Slaughter. Reception staff very helpful. Our waiter in restaurant very friendly.
Bar staff neutral. When my sister and her husband wanted to change restaurant table the restaurant manager seemed a little officious in saying it wasn't possible. However, he seemed to 'thaw' a little as the evening progressed. My sister and her husband were visiting from the USA.
We enjoyed the charm of the location .The evening meal was ok and the breakfast was good with an excellent choice . Our room was clean and well serviced. We will definatly visit again.
Our evening meal was a little cold but we were given freshly cooked food which was piping hot.
Everything was fine, excellent. The only advise we would give is some variation in the fresh fruitsalad they serve for breakfast. Would be nice for those who stay more nights (as we did).
Beautiful village Cosy bar Excellent duplex bedroom Very good breakfast Friendly staff
Restaurant menu not very imaginative and food OK but not more (except for breakfast)
We enjoyed the whole experience from the first drink in the bar with our steak dinner near the open fire. What better way to enjoy the evening and then to have a really good night sleep which isn't normally the case when staying away from home.
Tables and chairs in the bar areas with more character would finish off this very tasteful hotel
Comfort of the room but I would have thought a superior room would have been a room with some view not looking onto a roof of a storage shed. My husband did mention it was our anniversary and they gave us a glass of champagne on the house. Nice touch!
The view in particular and being woken at 1.30 am to the sound of wine bottles being thrown in a bin. Also one day we had been out for a walk for 3hours and found our room had not been cleaned at late afternoon. I did complain and they said they were short staffed. Not our problem I'm afraid.
Location, evening meal and breakfast.
Could have more soaps/ shower gel in the bathroom but minor point.
Our visit was to celebrate my 60th birthday. A "special" one you would think. My husband ordered champagne and flowers in our room on our arrival. He was told "fizz" was available. No flowers. Having booked dinner that night and requesting a birthday cake I was given a pudding bowl with happy birthday written in chocolate around the rim. Well I was a little disappointed and yet the maître d didn't seem to understand why. He honestly didn't care. Many of the staff were foreign speaking and at breakfast my order was completely mis interpreted. Again it was a shrug of the shoulders. We were there two nights and were taken aback to return after a days walking to find our room exactly as we had left it with no one having made up the bed. Again the attitude was sorry but .... we don't really care.
very friendly staff, very comfortable bed, lovely food, beautiful hotel and surroundings.
it was a bit cold in the restaurant in the evening as the windows are drafty.
A lovely location. Good size room. Lovely big bath! Comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was superb. Good breakfast the following morning as well.
Perfect location and our stay was enhanced by everyone involved in the hotel
Wonderful location. Bedroom and big bathroom excellent. Really enjoyed relaxing in front of a roaring fire. Perfect retreat break.
I arranged to stay at this gorgeous hotel as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday. I have frequented the Cotswolds since I was a young girl but never stayed in lower Slaughter. Our stay was fantastic - staff, food and atmosphere all superb. With the Inn's proximity close to Stow and Bourton and central to the Wolds' beautiful towns - it's an all round winner!! Thanks for a wonderful experience. I'm sure we will go there again sometime.
Friendly welcome, attentive, cheerful staff and excellent service. Good restaurant and very cosy bar. Comfortable, quiet bedroom with excellent bathroom. Lovely location.
