windows are old allowing noise from outside and rattle in the wind. The hotel is old fashioned and needs brought in to the 21st century.
Location and frendliness and comfort.
Breakfast, smoked bacon is an aquired taste and sausages were skinny cheap things!
The staff just couldn't have been more helpful. Just before setting off for our break, I hurt my leg and ended up in a wheelchair but the staff went out of their way to anticipate my every need. They offered us a room with a walk-in shower instead of an over-bath one, supplied a grab handle for the shower and reserved a parking space next to the main door etc. The reclining chairs in the room were very comfortable and the complimentary port a welcome surprise. We found the beds very comfortable too and the food was excellent, both in range of choice and quality. More plus points than minus. I wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel again.
The fact that the lift takes only one person at a time was a down point. The room was noisy but that was understandable given the hotel's location in the middle of town. The cost of room service was rather steep too but it was, after all, an option. In my case, it came in very handy. The cleaning staff seemed to be rather overworked and I wouldn't have minded our bucket being emptied oftener.
Warm welcome. Swimming pool. Comfortable rooms with good sound insulation and free ear plugs . Nice touches such as free glass of port, sewing kit, clothes brush. Towelling robes. Freshly squeazed Orange juice.
Hotel was fine and in good area- Workington is rather bleak but good shopping centre and lovely people
Helpful and polite staff, food was good, breakfast excellent.
Very very noisy even on the fourth floor!!!. No air con room gets stuffy quickly.
From the outside it doesn't look much, but inside is where the hotel comes to life. It has a range of different sized rooms (I have stayed in a few there now!), with comfortable beds and good facilities. A little bonus every day is a small glass of port when you back to your room! Very friendly staff, good food in the restaurant, a good bar area, superb breakfast (included in price), swimming pool and gym area. What more could you ask for?
Wifi as always in hotels is patchy. It is free and works most of the time, but a it is a bit random. Aside from that I find little to complain about at this hotel!
Friendly, helpful staff, well presented rooms, welcome glass of port ! and centrally located.
breakfast was really good.
dinner menu (the food was disappointing)
The hotel and the staff were fantastic. The food was great and the room was lovely. There's an amazing tapas bar right across the road but get there before 9pm if you want to order food.
The location is terrible! At night there are loads of drunken people shouting, screaming and fighting from outside the pubs across the road. There's a constant stream of sirens going past too. My boyfriend and I went for a short walk and in the space of 5 minutes the drunken occupants of 2 separate cars shouted things at us, so we just went back to the hotel. This is a beautiful hotel but it's in completely the wrong location. If it could be lifted and moved somewhere quieter it would be perfect. Such a shame :-(
very pleasant personnel and situation is perfect in this small town
difficulty of parking
Location, large room and good breakfast
If you need to be in Workington its the about the best there is.
Tired and over priced and there are better hotels around, but out of Workington. Its needs competition in the town.
Fantastic restaurant, great food, very good spa facilities.
The food the staff the room the complimentary glass of port inthe room
Quite old fashioned but I really enjoyed that. Rooms kitted out nicely - complementary glass of port on arrival. The food was wonderful ! Staff very friendly and helpful. would definitely go back there.
Room very hot (but is was a very warm night) and no means to cool it down although I'm sure they would have provided a fan if I had asked. Wi Fi not available :(
Clean, comfortable. Good food. Staff very helpful.
Limited carparking, but o.k.
The food and staff were excellent.
There is no TV in the room.
Friendly reception everything in order
Location useful for an evening engagement. Excellent shower. Water pressure really good.
The twin room was superb but the double was a lot more dated room the decor was nowhere near as good, which was disappointing, on our next visit we will request a modern room, it warranted the cost but the double didn't seem value for money breakfast was excellent.
Decor in double room very dated
Good welcome from staff and good service, comfortable, good food.
lack of hotel parking
Restaurant was excellent and very reasonable , staff very professional and friendly.
As situated in the city even on the fifth floor noise was quite bad from bars below.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was brilliant. The location was very handy as it is in the middle of Workington and near the A66, so very convenient for travelling.
The car park is quite small, although the staff were able to direct you to good parking nearby.
Lack of parking facility
Location. Have stayed here before and was quite good. But not this time not a lot of good things to say. Over priced. Would not win four in a bed .
Very noisy radiator. Paper falling off bathroom ceiling. Hot water coming through both taps. Bed sunk in the middle. Lots of noise from nearby pubs into early hours of morning. Over charged by £28 on check out had to ask for refund. Staff on check in but nothing after that. Poor control of car park very disappointed will not return.
