We had a lovely room with a view of the lake. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The location is spot on and the breakfast was first class.
The fact that we had to leave.
we enjoyed everything & intend to return!
The positioning of the hotel really suited is and enable us to carry out local walks, enjoy the lake trips and carry out local car tours.
The item was the tight acces to our room, particularly when getting cases to our room.
We love this place, rooms, food & staff always brilliant
Excellent location. Well-presented studio room. Good parking. Short walk to town centre and ferry.
Traffic noise present from all studio rooms. Staff helpful but provided 'pub -style' service rather than hotel. Could smile a little more! Several people had incorrect breakfast meals presented and cooked breakfast took a while to arrive. Breakfast just OK.
The staff are excellent and go to any means to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Location cannot be bettered, close to waters edge with beautiful views of Windermere.
Room had been cancelled in error by reception but satisfactory solution was found. Note to Inn management: Do not accept cancellation from anyone other than person on booking form.
Excellent breakfast and beer garden. Rooms very clean. Modern bathroom.
The bed was firm but soft, our room was smaller than anticipated, however, it was clean, quite and cozy. When I told the staff that I thought I had broken the shower, there were no questions, and the shower was repaired within a couple of hours.
The price of the beer
Wonderful stay! Great location with a view of the lake. Had the room with the patio on the ground floor and outside furniture with a view of the lake. The room was spotless...lots of room with your own front door to the outside. Great room option for walkers without walking through the lobby with muddy boots! The breakfast was lovely, again you eat with view of the lake. Cant wait to stay here again!
Great food Lovely views Friendly staff Choice of "cosy" or more "contemporary" dining rooms
It was peaceful and not very noisy like a lot of Inns. Superb outlook over Windermere lake. Would certainly stay here again.
lots of stairs, but what can you expect,it is an old property.
Location and friendly staff
Lots of stairs and no help offered with luggage
Stayed for my 60 th birthday, perfect location by the lake. Had a lovely room at the front of the hotel overlooking the lake, very comfortable with a nice seating area to relax in.
Only thing we didn't like was the breakfast on the second morning. The first morning was perfect everything cooked well and hot. On the second it took a very long time to arrive and my poached eggs were hard and rubbery with cold toast and cold beans, my husbands full breakfast bacon not cooked enough and eggs overdone. Spoiled what would have been a perfect stay.
Walking distance from Ambleside. Spacious and well appointed room. Helpful staff who assisted with a variety of matters, including supplying a packed breakfast as we were departing early.
The Inn backs on to a rather busy road so therefore there is road noise during the day - but not during the night. Barking dog in room above. No table service to outside area, for evening meals.
Food was good! It's got a nice relax atmosphere!
location by the lake and ease of parking and bar facilities and that wonderful view for breakfast - we were not a mature couple - a father and daughter but that is what i had to complete in the questionnaire!!
no lift for my Dad - should have been told at booking time
Hotel was very comfortable and clean.
As a resident, having to order meals at the bar, even with a priority service, doesn't really equate with the overall cost of B&B.
Excellent location, lovely breakfast, comfy rooms, staff all really pleasant and helpful
DOGS !!!! They were supposed to remain in one area, but they seemed to be in most areas, not good if you are asthmatic or allergic to dogs
The Wateredge is in a fantastic location, has lovely rooms that are maintained to a very high standard and staff who were friendly and helpful at all times. Food so good I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel.
Nothing it was a lovely stay and I will stay again
Free off road parking 5 mins by car from Brockhole / Lake District Visitors Centre, 10min walk into Ambleside, 2min walk to lake / ferry. Quiet night's sleep Clean comfortable room Free bottled water Having an early start because of a swim event I was unable to make the breakfast times but was offered a more than adequate packed lunch to take with me instead. Staff were friendly and helpful. Atmosphere in the bar area was bright and airy with lots of seating available, there was a view of the lake from some of the tables near the windows.
Tried quite hard to find something but couldn't, will definitely stay here again.
The hotel, staff, food, and facilities were excellent - couldn't fault this on any count. There was ample car parking and in a prime location right on the edge of the northern point of the lake, just ten minutes walk or a two minute drive from Ambleside town, it was everything I expected.
The passageways and stairways between the rooms were a bit narrow, making it difficult to get the bags to and from the rooms, particularly up to rooms 20-28 (I think that's right). A bit od assistance from the staff in this area wouldn't go amiss.
having to wait for room at 2.55pm as check in was 3pm a little bit pedantic
On arrival we orderd lunch waitress excellent. Food quite good. The bill arrived just a ticket put down on the table no tray plate etc. When we paid no thanyou mints yet others paying did get them. Room was comfortable great views but very tired in need of several repairs and dated. We asked for fresh milk for a dribk in our room to be told I cant give you a jug there might not be enough for the breakfast tables. Definitely not value for money
Friendly staff and location. Really good breakfast. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely views of Lake from bar and garden terrace.
The hotel was very clean, huge bed, lake view, attentive staff , food good quality and portions huge
Bar and food prices expensive
