Almost everything about the hotel was fantastic, especially the setting on the lake side. On arrival we were informed that we had received a free room upgrade and as soon as we entered our room we were delighted, the view out of the window was amazing. Another great part of our stay was the use of the leisure facilities in a local hotel which were better than we had imagined. We made use of the swimming pool and outdoor hot tub (with lake view) as well as other facilities.
The only negativity I can think of was the parking. Although we always managed to get a space, the car park area was quite tight and always full with some cars having to park outside of the marked bays.
Staff were fantastic. Room service was brilliant. Extra touches made by staff for our anniversary were perfect. 10/10 would definitely stay again
Everyone was helpful and friendly.
we didnt stay long enough
Fantastic room with a beautiful room, great restaurant
My husband and I booked a classic sea view room, ours was on ground floor(room3). The room was lovely, very spacious and quite luxurious. I slept really well(and ł am a light sleeper), though the hotel is on a busy road ł wasn't disturbed too much by traffic outside. We had a lovely view From our room but ł think it would have been better if we had been upstairs. In our room we had complimentary drinks(still &sparkling bottled water, gin&tonic, with ice), napresso coffee making machine, nuts, jelly beans, crisps, a bowl of fruits.....plus motorn brown toiletries and gowns& slippers to use during our stay. We opted for B&B, ł must say their breakfast was the best ever yet ! On top of the continental they offer full English breakfast on menu, America &vegetarian as well as other which ł can't remember. Their egg benedict was scrumpicious! We ordered room service for dinner on one night, we had a fish platter to share, it was lovely, very filling and quite reasonable! Their menu caters for everyone. Wifi is free and it's quite good as well. They offer DVDs to watch in your rooms as they have collection to borrow during your stay. Overally we enjoyed our stay and we would definitely go back again. I strongly recommend this hotel, staff are friendly, and helpful plus atmosphere is homely and quite relaxed.
They allow pets in the hotel so don't be shocked to see dogs in bar area or lounge! The fact that you have to go to another hotel to use the swimming pool.
The room, the staff, the real coffee, heated bathroom floor!!!
It was all excellent!
The location, the staff and resturant were good.
I am not sure it was value for money, our room altough was on the lakeside, it was cramped and no comforatble chairs to sit in. The costs were equivalent to 4* hotels in London and I wouldnot expect it to be so expebsive in the Lakes. I ma mnot sure we would return to the hotel . Some parts of the hotel were not as clean as they might have been, the handrails were especially sticky and grubby! Parking was also very awkward for a large car such as ours (DISCO 4).
We loved the location, the rooms, the food.
Waiting staff in the dining rooms were so professional it was a bit characterless and 'cold'. They seemed rather anxious about getting everything right rather than engaging with their customers in any sort of friendly or warm way. I guess this is just a product of the way they are trained?
Room quality Location
Too many small things which didn't quite match the 4 star rating
All of it. Modern decor, the bathroom is stunning and fully equipped with all the necessary things women like and need. Naming the rooms of areas on the Lake District and the Do Not Disturb cuddly toy dog.
Can't think of a thing!
Location Quality of accommodation and meals
The restaurant bar had a lovely garden over looking the lake. The food was excellent and service too. The staff turned down the bed in the evening and placed a chocolate on the pillow. I have not experienced this in a long time. Such a simple gesture that makes your stay feel extra special.
Had no complaints
Great room with modern bath fixtures. Luxurious bath products. Very attentive and friendly staff. Beautiful location.
Not all the meals we had were worth the money.
Position and style of the hotel,
After paying a premium for a lake view room, it was a bit disappointing that the view of the lake was obstructed by the residents, visitors etc. sitting drinking and eating in the garden outside our window (floor level) making it impossible to leave the curtains open to enjoy the view.
Bed was very comfortable and there were some nice little extras in the room (coffee machine, locally-made gingerbread, dressjng gowns)
We paid for the most expensive room (£260 for a lake view)... But the view was really of the external seating area for the restaurant below, the view of the is only the very edge of the lake as there are 3 massive trees in the way!
The location was excellent with wonderful views over Lake Windermere. Couldn't fault the service and staff and the food was first rate. We had an all too short but very enjoyable stay. Hope to return soon, and as dogs are welcome would definitely take the pooch, and stay for longer.
The location is amazing right by the lake ,this was our second visit and we were not disappointed . The restaurant team and the household guys were 1st class ,nothing was a problem. We have in fact booked another break in January ,it's great.
The only fault was the reception team were rather cold !!
The location is the best aspect of this establishment; across the road from the lake, large room for an English hotel. Staff very polite and courteous.
Pricey for a low season stay, some refurbishment needs to take place in the common areas dinning room carpets very dirty and shoddy, paintwork on common landings quite worn and fire doors filthy with hand and finger marks, found a dirty mop in the bathroom on arrival, bath and washbasin looked newish but had worn terribly, cobwebs in wardrobe and under the vanity units.
FOOD QUITE REASONABLE
NO LIFT LONG WALK DOWN BUSY ROAD TO LEISURE FACILITIES AT LOW WOOD
Beautiful setting, small boutique hotel - food excellent and fab restaurant. Head waiter really friendly & helpful.
great position , lovely lake view room ,friendly helpful staff , great breakfast
some road noise
Wonderful staff.Professional as well as friendly.Fantastic position on lake side.
