Friendly staff. Peaceful location. Big lawn/park with direct access to the lake. Cultivated atmosphere - quiet even friday and saturday night.

Looks like a discounted rate gives room with only a small window and no view, but step out the door and you`ve got it all. Tall and narrow beds make sleeping an exercise of balance. Should be wider.

Position delightful receptionist handled gluten free diet without any problem size of room

Hotel is in a good location for fell walking,has a pleasant grassy garden with access to Coniston Lake, easy off road parking and a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff

limited selection of beers in bar - a shame given all the excellent Cumbrian ones available, equally little emphasis on homely bar meals .. which I'd have preferred rather than taking the more pricey and elaborate full dinner.

It was very good value for money for the 3 nights we stayed. Staff were friendly on the whole and it was in a good location.

Just a couple of minor quibbles. There was still other peoples rubbish in a very full bin when we first went into the room which wasnt particularly pleasant but other than that the cleanliness of the hotel was good. The restaurant was empty except for us when we ate there on the first night, which wouldnt have been a problem if the staff werent setting up for breakfast around us...all the clattering was not the nicest atmosphere at 8.30pm on a Friday.

The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast. Very good choice and plenty to eat. Breakfast staff friendly and helpfull. The bathrooms in the hotel rooms are modern and airy. The hotel has lovely grounds and great veiws.

The hotel could do with updating in some parts. For instance new covers on chairs. The bedroom we stayed in had dirty sheets with stains on them, I advised reception of this and they changed the sheets, but without an appollogy. There where dirty finger marks around the door handles and switches. The reception staff where not very friendly.

The staff especially the Manager made us feel very welcome and we had an enjoyable stay. There was a good choice for Breakfast and the service was excellent.

Location,staff,rooms were all first class.Views,gardens were all spectacular.perfect location for discovering the Lake District

Menu in particular the bar snacks showed no imagination there appears to be a trend to be up market instead of providing a basic range of good honest cooking as also commented on by fellow guests the food destroys what is a perfect hotel

A good welcome, friendly staff. Comfortable accomadation with varied adequate breakfast. Lovely hotel set in beautiful surroundings with Lake Coniston a short walk away.

Room very nice view from bedroom window very relaxing looking out onto the garden.

Thought the bar for residents could be made a little cosier and not so bright looking, lighting to be dimmed down.
