The adventure began, as all good adventures do, with a weary trudge back from the historical marvels of Hever Castle. Our legs felt like they had personally excavated the moat, but our spirits were buoyed by the prospect of a restful retreat at The Greyhound. Upon arrival, the warmth of the welcome almost made us forget the miles logged on our pedometers. It was as if they’d been forewarned by the castle itself: "Treat these travelers well; they’ve seen enough armor for one day."
Our evening commenced on a balcony, so charmingly compact you could almost believe it was designed for hobbits rather than weary tourists. There, under the benevolent gaze of the sun, we sipped on Prosecco with the kind of contentment that can only come from knowing you have nowhere else to be. It was a moment so serene, I half expected a choir of woodland creatures to start serenading us.
Dinner was an affair to remember, each dish presented with the kind of flair that suggested the chef might moonlight as an artist. The meal was exquisite, a symphony of flavors so harmonious, one wondered if the kitchen was secretly harboring a Michelin-starred maestro. It was the kind of meal that didn’t just satiate your hunger but seemed to whisper, "Yes, you’ve made some excellent life choices."
As we departed the next morning, after a night of slumber so profound it felt as if we had been wrapped in clouds, the promise to return was not merely a polite gesture but a vow. A return to The Greyhound wouldn’t just be considered; it would be inevitable. For where else could one find such a perfect blend of hospitality, gastronomy, and the chance to pretend, if only for a moment, that one was entirely at peace with the world?
Off the M25 motorway, at the 24-hour Clacket Lane Services, Days Inn Sevenoaks offers well-equipped bedrooms, free parking and free WiFi. There are food facilities next to the hotel.

Staff are welcoming, and always attentive to any needs
Excellent Bar with a great selection of beer, and one of the few places that still serve a decent Pint in a Jug Glass!
Breakfast is delicious - but if you're staying over and hoping to for an early getaway... do factor in they do not begin the service until 07:30

Breakfast was not an option. Porridge, coffee, tea and biscuits are available in bedrooms.
The hotel was difficult to find because it is actually called The Gurkha Restaurant and there is nothing to show that it’s The Woodcock Inn. I drove past it as the SatNav instructions told us to bear left on Woodcock Hill, when I was already driving SW on that road. Obviously I could not look at my phone whilst driving, so could not see that the road splits around the restaurant and a few other properties.
Rooms at Crowne Plaza - Felbridge come with a seating area, a writing desk, a flat-screen TV, a Hypnos bed and a private bathroom fitted with a high-pressure shower.
The Kings Arms Hotel is in the centre of the old English town of Westerham, 5 minutes’drive from the M25. Traditional food is served in the friendly bar and restaurant.

The room was lovely - bath looking out to lovely countryside. It does feel a bit exposed as there isn’t a lot of cover/ curtains, but the view makes it worth it.
Property is very clean.
On site parking available. Make sure you have a car as it is difficult to get to property otherwise.
Breakfast was nice - only thing given it’s a small b&b you need to decide the night before what time you’re going to have breakfast and what you’re going to eat.
Owner is very nice and friendly.
The castle and grounds are simply so beautiful. The suite I booked was even better than the photos on the site and the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. I came away very relaxed and can't wait to return.

Two favourites to visit once you have taken in the Castle and grounds, is Chartwell (once the home of Winston Churchill) and Penshurst Palace, a short drive from your venue.

Edenbridge, close to Heaver Castle, and our visit to the castle and gardens was excellent. all very well organized. In the castle you receive a headphone set in order to follow the history and the rooms.. the whole setting is spectacular. I have visited many castles in my life, but this is one of the best.

It is beautiful place to stay and immerse yourself in history. The rooms are nicely decorated in line with the historical period the property represents. They are very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The visit to the castle gardens after the official opening times brings you a sense of being in an enchanted place. My family and I had a very memorable stay!

I visited the place to participate in the Castle Run series.
I visited the place to participate in the Castle Run series. The town of Hever itself is a small one, the castle grounds are worth a visit. I wish I'd stayed a day longer to soak up that quietness. If you don't arrive by car, it might be somewhat uncomfortable to walk along the vehicle roads with no sidewalk most of the time, though.
I know this Isn’t a traditional airport hotel, but every time I fly through Gatwick, I stay a night. It is about a 30-40 minute drive to the airport and rarely any traffic.
Staying at Hever is everything you want to experience in UK - magical castle, stunning gardens, and a few great pubs in the neighborhood for dinner. The rooms are each unique and so well decorated…steeped in history. The staff were very attentive. Much gratitude.
The property was stunning, spotlessly clean the room stunning beautiful period room exceptionally comfortable. Then you have the staff they really cannot do enough for you we were there for the Christmas event so stayed at the hotel it’s literally not even five minutes walk away we forgot our wellington boots they have boots there if you want to borrow them they cater for your ever need can’t wait to go back
Our hosts were excellent in providing detailed information for our stay. Loved the history of the house, the character and the location. It's a five-ten minute walk to Edenbridge Town station, which gets you into London within 40 minutes. The leisure centre is a ten minute walk away, and a nice river walk five minutes away. Plenty of choice for supermarkets, and a couple of good pubs and coffee shops.
We enjoyed a feeling of peace and tranquillity that we had throughout our stay. The Greyhound is a relatively small hotel with only a handful of rooms. The small restaurant servers predominantly the residents but with just a couple of other tables.
The food was excellent and our room was furnished to a very good standard along with an interesting variety of art work displayed throughout premises.
Caroline was very accommodating and thoughtful and exceeded our expectations
A very comfortable stay and felt looked after
The hotel is very cosy and beautifully appointed with a quaint feel!
The bedrooms had a contemporary feel and comfortable bed
A very tasty breakfast
Pure joy, an unforgettable experience. Beautifully furnished room with four poster bed. The best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel anywhere. Inpeccably clean. Staff were very accomodating. Great food at the Henry the VIII pub round the corner. Not to be missed.
Amazing hotel, rooms were spotless and the beds so comfy. Best thing is the views of the castle from the room and being able to walk the grounds after closing. Staff all lovely and friendly.
Amazing location, perfect if you are visiting the local golf course, considering the remote feel only 7 mins from Edenbridge town centre by car. Cant fault the service.
Friendly and Attentive staff. Quality/Quantity/Variety of breakfast menu. Seating was comfortably spaced and the Ambience of the dining area was amazing!
