The staff were really relaxed and calm and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. rooms nice, shower great...always a plus The heating i think was on the blink..one minute it was freezing in the room and the next really hot.. extra blankets in the cupboard would have been great as the duvet was very thin.

Relatively convenient to Heathrow Airport; breakfast available VERY difficult to find! Mapquest directions were too vague and, without a street number, GPS information was not adequate.

The room we stayed in was well decorated and next to the stream running from the watermill. We arrived late in the evening and were propmptly allocated a room by the reception staff. Didn't like the tap water not being drinkable and having to use the two small bottles of water provided or ringing reception for some more. Thought the quilts were a bit small for use on a double bed.

The decor was old and outdated, the king size bed was two singles pushed together. TV was an old box type. Carpets in hall way smelled. Reception was tatty.

Excellent quiet location with friendly and efficient staff. Very good room with every comfort and good room service. Hotel was full but no disturbance from fellow guests. Would recommend the hotel to anyone for a quiet weekend break - close to London and with easy access to station. Good value for money. Well done Best Western - in particular The Watermill!

Room was on ground floor end of block - beautifully configured for wheel chair access (not necessary for me and not requested). Bathroom designed as wet room, shower chair and very low small wash basin - excellent layout for person in a wheel chair but not convenient for "able bodied" me. Kettle doesn't fit under tap and sticker showed tap water not suitable for drinking. Bed had protection board (?) sticking out from under all sides and I constantly knocked my ankles. Room very cold with no extra blankets - heating/air conditioning didn't bring the temperature up sufficiently. However I didn't take these issues up with the management as I was attending an on-site wedding and didn't have the time.

The room was clean & tidy. The bathroom facilities were good. The hotel seemed to be understaffed. The staff members were less than friendly, inefficient and barely polite.

Very charming hotel with views over the mill pond with wild fowl and other birds. Food good and staff were responsive within their area of responsibility. Accommodation spacious enough. Although we had hot water to the sink, late at night we discovered that there was none to the bath and it was difficult for the staff to do anything at that late hour.

The free wifi connection was so erratic I used my own dongle to ensure a stable connection. The bar only had 1 beer on tap and that was off so the only other choice was lager, I went over to the road to a real pub for real beer and good food.

Clean, simple, basic rooms. Really pretty round the back with the water and bridges and ducks. Great location next to many places of interest. Plenty of great places to eat (pub across the road) and drink nearby.

We only stayed one night but were impressed with the comfort and quality of the room . It was also a pleasant change to be able to get a smoking room , which for us meant we were able to relax completely. we didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we felt it was a little expensive but like I say we didn't try it to know for the price whether it was good value.

The idea of the watermill conversion was great. The mill race being retained in the middle of the reception was a clever idea. The hotel was quiet and the room sizes were very good. It was nice to have coffee and tea making facilities in your room as so many hotels now have stopped this. It was also a nice gesture to put water in the rooms for the guests. The hotel was clean and hassle free. I would stay again and it would be great if there were cheap weekend rates so that one could stay for 2 nights instead of one. I enjoyed my experience of staying at the Watermill and would stay there again if the rate was competitive as we go to Berkhamsted on a regular basis. My only gripe about the hotel was that the evening receptionist was not very pleasant and was busy doing bookwork so was not very attentive to ones needs, but this was only a minor quibble and did not affect our stay. I put it down to him having a wedding on in the hotel.

Helpful staff. There is nowhere to put this point, so I put it in this box. The only thing that does annoy me is having warm breakfast food, instead of hot food. The breakfast bar should be switched up to a higher setting so all customers have hot food.
