Many part of this town including its HIGH STREET are looking terribly run down and rough. So too some pubs ...
I'm sure it will perk up in higher season but money needs to be spent on its appearance .
The streets felt as safe as most places in Britain and some Bistros and cafes were delightful. Roads are narrow and some extremely vertiginous . Parking can be an issue in high season I guess.

Ilfracombe is worth a visit and is probably better in the summer than when we visited. We preferred Woolacombe and Puttsborough beach is great for surfing. We walked around Baggy Point and saw some amazing views. Well worth a visit.

There were some really lovely parts of Ilfracombe and some not so nice , like most towns . Most of the architecture is stunning with old and new together but some new don't fit in. The scenery on the coast is amazing with lots of craggy coves and you can walk along the South West Coast Path . There is a small harbour where a stunning Damien Hirst statue is of Verity ,Statue of Justice if I remember correctly Parts of Ilfracombe are quite steep but there are slopes and some roads on the flat. We ate Sunday lunch at the Thatched Inn , had Breakfast at the Lime Kiln Cafe down by a cove . We loved it.

Lovely rugged coastline all still very natural.
Lovely rugged coastline all still very natural. The town however was a little disappointing in terms of felt a bit run down and lacking in investment in some areas. Worth a visit altho not too long as I think more useful to use as a base to travel than a holiday in as wasn’t enough to offer.

As we were attending a wedding it was a good location for us but probably not the right time of year for shopping etc as most of the shops were empty or closed down. I'm sure its much better in the summer!

Ilfracombe town is a solid favourite of mine, boat trips, fish and chips by the harbour, walks, cream tea (hele corn mill). Watermouth Castle. Newly opened place to eat The Lime Kiln Cafe. Coastal walk to Hele. Chapel of St Nicholas
The Devonian is a really lovely place to stay. Piper and Terence are exceptional hosts who were so friendly and helpful, going out of their way to help with parking whilst we were on Lundy. Their attention to detail and quality meant we had everything we needed (and more!) for a really comfortable stay. This attention to detail continued with a lovely breakfast with a great range of cereals, pastries, fruit/yogurt and a wide range of cooked options. All in all a fantastic stay
The fact ChamberCombe was so close to Hele & Ilfracombe. They were in easy walking distance.
The location was very quiet & the Hayloft apartment was detached so we were not having to keep that quiet like we would in a hotel or guest house. Overall it was a very relaxing, enjoyable, restful time which we were both looking for. We would definitely book this apartment again.
The hotel is in a brilliant location -- great base for exploring North Devon. It's close to a large car park, small beach, harbour, shops, bus stop, visitor's centre, theatre, high street and places to eat. A very pretty Victorian town. Pleasant Reception area at the hotel and a comfortable public lounge with Wi-Fi access.
Very friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast ordered night before was exceptional, fresh haddock on bed spinach with two perfect poached eggs better than most hotels. Beautiful room good fridge unlimited tea coffee, large car park and view of Ilfracombe.
Location superb, literally yards from the Tunnels Beaches, and the Catholic Church (ideal for Easter Sunday Mass) and 10 mins walk from the harbour
Good breakfast
Clean and comfortable room
Friendly and helpful host
Single malts in the hotel bar
Lovely hotel centrally located in Ilfracombe. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Violet and George our hosts were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Great breakfast with plenty of options. Excellent value for money
Location was superb as we travelled by bus using the Exmoor Coaster from Watcher harbour to Lynmouth and then to Barnstaple and Ilfracombe returning on the Sunshine bus and Exmoor Coaster so the hotel was ideal for our purposes
The room was at a good standard. The breakfast which was included was great value for money and tasted lovely every morning. The hotel was a short walk from the centre of Ilfracombe and it met all of my expectations.
Spotlessly clean apartment and hotel like beds and bedding. New kitchen and bathroom. Lounge and dining area comfortable. Great apartment, can't fault it. Great indoor soft play area. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool.
Amazing three days at the Earlsdale. Lewis and James are superb hosts, friendly, accommodating and taking care of every detail. Gorgeous room and hotel, very comfortable and a brilliant overall stay in Ilfracombe.
Beautiful location😍, nice and quiet, next to the harbour. Heated pool was lovely ☺️ very friendly staff especially the man that show us to our caravan and told us everything we needed to know about the park.
We regularly visit Ilfracombe and we love this hotel. It’s by far the best we’ve stayed in there. I’ve also stayed there as a single female traveller and have always felt perfectly safe and comfortable.
The location was perfect for visiting Ilfracombe and surrounding areas.
The hotel owners were lovely - very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. And breakfast was excellent!
Donna and Paul were great, breakfast was lovely, room was fresh, new and clean with anti bac wipes provided.
Short drive to Ilfracombe Harbour which is also walkable from the hotel.
