Location FOOD Clean
Time warp back to 80s
Food was okay
The wifi didn't work outside of the reception, bar and restaurant. Reception told me my credit card was declined which was embarrassing but when I called my card customer service, it was an issue with the terminal at the hotel. No room service menus, told to go into the restaurant and someone would help, after 3-4 minutes with no one showing up, I decided to go back to my room, get my car keys and drove into Peterhead. Television channel choice very poor, which was more noticeable due to having ZERO wifi in my room. Therefore being unable to access my sky go account. Very disappointing.
Cleanliness, Comfortable Bed, Spacious Room
Looks run down, carpets thread bare, leaking ceilings. First Morning a severe lack of choice at breakfast even though there was still three quarters of an hour before breakfast should have finished
No hot water which the staff knew about
Hard to say !!!
The walls are very thin and the person next door liked the tv loud, I was up early for work and fell asleep around ten the telly next door was still blaring and woke me up at around 12 ;-( wifi was rubbish and I phoned reception to complain that I had none in my room and needed to work on my laptop to be told i,d probably need to come down to the reception area to work, after a 4 hour drive I didn't think so, I didn't wait for breakfast so not sure what the food was like ...
ENTRANCE/SIGN AT THE MAIN ROAD NOT LIT UP KEPT DRIVING PAST IT AS IT WAS DARK WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE HOTEL
The bed was comfortable, staff friendly and food was nice. The facilities are good.
The rooms are dated and main areas are in need of modernisation as well.
Cost per night
good size room, clean
SPA is untouched from 70ies
close to where we wanted to be
room was very tired could do with re decorating, no meal service on one night as it was carvery or nothing. some staff no at all helpful.
Helpful staff, good food and peaceful nights sleep, no traffic noise.Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Maybe a bit of a makeover - this was once the best hotel near to Peterhead, but now looking a tad tired.
The long serving staff. Most of the food. We have been visiting this hotel since it was built but doubt if we will return which is a great pity.
Quality of 'Executive' bedroom very poor. Dirty bathroom, wallpaper hanging off, curtain hanging off rail,2 /15 watt bulbs to light room. Second Executive bedroom better but should NEVER be classified as 'executive'.
location the evening meal was ok - shame about the tatty decor etc,.
incredibly shabby - needs a real tidy up. Hugely overpriced.
Rooms need some serious updating.
Food very good . Place needs makeover
Hotel has a lot to offer but was in process of being refurbished. Would go back another time to try again. Staff were very helpful.
Threadbare Carpets Rooms needing lick of Paint
Good place to stay and go for walks
Hotel is long overdue refurbishment place was clean but in poor state of repair, room smelled of damp from bathroom
Bedroom was a super size. Ensuite was very clean with soaps and shower gels available. Room was very quiet. A lovely lad who seemed to be doubling up as a DIY guy and barman was very helpful. The young waitresses, while inexperienced were doing their best to keep up with the demand of a busy service. The patio windows in the dining room were a nice feature and more could have been made of this area leading out into the garden.
Bedroom soft furnishings andcarpet very much in need of replacing as was the carpet throughout the corridor and public areas. Staircase carpet although in need of replacing too could have simply benefitted from a thorough hoovering. Breakfast could have been presented in a much more appealing and appetising way. Although the hotel was catering for large numbers the dining room ambience did not encourage you to linger. Altogether the hotel was looking very very 'tired'. It could have great potential if money is spent on it.
Breakfast - solo traveler - put on table for six!! didn't like that - no conversation from waitress - when I asked for fruit tea was brought the option of two packets!! was not asked if I would like toast - cooked breakfast very unappetising.
Leisure facilities were good though public areas could do with upgrading.
Evening meal wasn't what we were told it was going to be & service was slow & disorganised.
Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
this feedback was received from our staff who stayed there. It was filthy dirty both int he bathroom. The carpet/Curtain and some of the room furniture was stuck down/fixed with gaffer tape The bedding was fraid. Going down to breakfast experience people at the bar drinking pints, it was 7.15am. I have put this property on our black list to ensure that non of our staff ever stay here again. It was very expensive and more like a bad backpackers than a hotel that it advertises
They man on reception was helpful and polite. Comfortable bed
Having stayed at the Waterside before, was expecting a clean and comfortable environment, however other than the man on reception we were disappointed. 1- room poor- big gap under bathroom door, tiles broken 2- throughout the hotel very worn carpets with tape covering holes. 3- no one to great us at breakfast 4- breakfast poor, not refilled and was not offered coffee had to find someone to get some. 5- on leaving was automaticly charged a credit card supplement when using a debit card - was rectified. overall disappointed as only hotel in the area.
