Score from 36 reviews Very good
Hotel has a lot to offer but was in process of being refurbished. Would go back another time to try again. Staff were very helpful.
Threadbare Carpets Rooms needing lick of Paint
Good place to stay and go for walks
Hotel is long overdue refurbishment place was clean but in poor state of repair, room smelled of damp from bathroom
Bedroom was a super size. Ensuite was very clean with soaps and shower gels available. Room was very quiet. A lovely lad who seemed to be doubling up as a DIY guy and barman was very helpful. The young waitresses, while inexperienced were doing their best to keep up with the demand of a busy service. The patio windows in the dining room were a nice feature and more could have been made of this area leading out into the garden.
Bedroom soft furnishings andcarpet very much in need of replacing as was the carpet throughout the corridor and public areas. Staircase carpet although in need of replacing too could have simply benefitted from a thorough hoovering. Breakfast could have been presented in a much more appealing and appetising way. Although the hotel was catering for large numbers the dining room ambience did not encourage you to linger. Altogether the hotel was looking very very 'tired'. It could have great potential if money is spent on it.
Breakfast - solo traveler - put on table for six!! didn't like that - no conversation from waitress - when I asked for fruit tea was brought the option of two packets!! was not asked if I would like toast - cooked breakfast very unappetising.
Leisure facilities were good though public areas could do with upgrading.
Evening meal wasn't what we were told it was going to be & service was slow & disorganised.
Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
this feedback was received from our staff who stayed there. It was filthy dirty both int he bathroom. The carpet/Curtain and some of the room furniture was stuck down/fixed with gaffer tape The bedding was fraid. Going down to breakfast experience people at the bar drinking pints, it was 7.15am. I have put this property on our black list to ensure that non of our staff ever stay here again. It was very expensive and more like a bad backpackers than a hotel that it advertises
They man on reception was helpful and polite. Comfortable bed
Having stayed at the Waterside before, was expecting a clean and comfortable environment, however other than the man on reception we were disappointed. 1- room poor- big gap under bathroom door, tiles broken 2- throughout the hotel very worn carpets with tape covering holes. 3- no one to great us at breakfast 4- breakfast poor, not refilled and was not offered coffee had to find someone to get some. 5- on leaving was automaticly charged a credit card supplement when using a debit card - was rectified. overall disappointed as only hotel in the area.
bar was fine and staff pleasent
rooms were outdated
We won`t be back to the hotel as it is poor value for money and we were disappointed at the state of it.
We stayed at the hotel more than ten years ago and it used to be quite nice. It is now threadbare and needs a face lift. It is far too expensive for what you get. We won`t be back.
FoodGood -- Rooms clean --waiting staff were very accommodating
Lots of guests on premises but no entertainment. although rooms were clean the carpeting was stained and faded.
The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and everything worked. The shower was good.
The hotel is rather tired and in need of refurbishment. The service in the restaurant was appalling, more staff are needed when a coach party is in. It was 50 minutes after we were seated that we got our first course.
The staff were friendly but all seemed tired from work. They did try & keep in clean except the windows !!
The hotel is very tired & in need of a complete refurb. More tape on floor than carpet, loose fitting & broken tiles in rooms. All in all shabby
Room was excellent (324). Comfortable and quiet.Just what we wanted for an overnight stay!!! Excellent Breakfast!!!!
Comfy bed, good shower and breakfast was delicious.
Hotel in need of some TLC. Looked like some refurb work on-going.
Bed and room in general was comfortable enough but curtain was hanging off and could neither be opened or closed properly.
NEEDS MONEY SPENT ON IT.
Checking out was best bit about staying here.
Everything. Car park full of pot holes, signs on entry a disgrace to the company. Towels strewn across car park. Receptionist too busy filing papers to check me in. Arrived at 8:45pm to be told restaurant last orders were 8:45 and I'd missed dinner. McDonald's near by! Hotel room worn out. Tables disgusting door handles been screwed on many time. Tiles hanging off bath room. Drunk scots knocking people up at 3am. Breakfast finished at 9 but run out of food at 8:30. 1 waiter couldn't clear tables quick enough. £104 for this is a joke. Brittania hotels are a joke.
Only place around that had a room left
Rude staff Very expensive for what you got Food was rubbish
The facility was the only one available at the time of booking.
The general condition was run down and not clean , carpets joined with tape ,lights in room not working ,insufficient towels in room and mouldy musty smell in hallways.
Hotel was very over priced for the condition the hotel was in.. was a dated old hotel.in could be done with a refurbish.. was a mouse in the roon the last nite asweel.and when reported to staff was told it was only a mouse like it was not a problem.. would never stay there again..
Upon arrival we were told room wasn't available, despite us phoning and advising that we would be arriving late and making payment by card over the phone. Told by night porter we could sleep in a chair. A room later became available when someone checked out, however it wasn't worth £165. The manager wasn't available the following day to discuss this with and didn't bother contacting us as promised.
Room was fantastic, was our Anniversary so they made it special
Needs a revamp- very dated
