The hotel was close to the village centre and was a short walk from a station and a variety of pubs and restaurants. The room was shabby and tired and in need of an upgrade.

Good home prepared food, welcoming owner, reasonable prices, spacious room, clean and tidy, would go another time. Slightly dated bathroom and decor.

Lovely location, and breakfast was good, room was a good size Not very welcoming, bar staff were nice, but it felt as if you were intruding in a family house otherwise. Not much atmosphere

The old-fashioned house. The family atmosphere. The friendly staff. Location. Badly needs investment - no fridge, old bathroom, old tv, poor heating. For only a tiny amount more money, it is possible to stay in absolute luxury with indoor pool at the Balmerlawn Hotel - but they were fully booked.

Beautiful location with walks in the New Forest almost on the doorstep. Lovely twin room, with armchairs, in the old part of the hotel. Lots of storage space. Very good cooked breakfast with teh best scrambled eggs I've ever had in a hotel. The 3 course evening meal was reasonably priced and delicious. Staff all very friendly. The outdoor swimming pool is a reasonable size and heated to a perfect temperature. Liked it all.

I'd arranged to stay at the Watersplash Hotel for an evening for my anniversary. Having made the short trip from Bournemouth on a bitterly cold November weekend, it was simple enough to find the hotel, being a short walk from the train station. We brought our dog along too and she was made to feel welcome. The staff are very friendly and the hotel itself has some 'old homespun charm'. Like other posters, I would say that rooms are a little outdated. Thankfully the radiator was on and kept us nice and warm and the bathroom was large without being luxurious. I'd requested the last remaining 'luxury room' and was a little disappointed that this consisted of two single beds in a corner and one larger double, more akin to a family room than a romantic suite but perhaps I should have checked first. Now, you don't go away, especially to somewhere as picturesque as Brockenhurst to watch television but if that's your bag, a more modern set would be a neat addition. £105 for the room was too expensive, the hotel is reasonable and the location ideal for the New Forest but the room itself let the place down slightly.

The crayfish salad starter. The noisy party that occurred on Sat night and bad language from outside was dis turbing. We were disappointed that the promised room was not available to us, however the complimentary bottle of wine helped to make us feel better.
