Lovely walk along the river after dinner
I didn't like that I could only stay for one night.
Friendly and helpful staff. Large, comfortable and clean room. Lovely restaurant by the river. Delicious locally sourced food.
Location is superb. Staff friendly. Our room overlooked the river. Wanted a quiet birthday weekend and we were the ONLY residents in the hotel - Law of Attraction! Breakfast very nice. Not far at all to walk into Beccles.
Double bed was a bit small for a modern hotel. Rooms and decor are dated and tired. Carpet throughout needs replacing. Big issue with payment - hotel took a prepayment for full amount and then took full payment again which tied up double the money of the cost. Took 4 days after our return for the prepayment to be returned!
No wifi in bed room
Character of Historic Building Fine Riverside Location Young, Cheerful and Alert Staff Excellent Room
Very little. Given that the car had to be parked on a sloping surface and frost was forecast for the morning, I was slightly concerned. In fact there was no problem.
We booked for nine of our relations to eat in the restaurant on our second night's stay, we enjoyed the food very much.
We were very much looking forward to our two day break with you but disappointed to find the restaurant closed on our first day! Also the guests in the room next to us were extremely noisy on our second night's stay until very late and again very early in the morning! We were also overcharged by £25 so all in all not the relaxing time we had hoped for!
Came away with my partner for nye, excellent value for money, beautiful breakfast New Year's Day,lovely friendly staff A fab change for nye Thankyou
The staff at the Hotel are excellent and nothing is to much trouble, the food in the restraunts is excellent and the room was well decorated and comfortable
The WiFi, it's about time wifi was avalible in the rooms, I know it is avalible in reception and other general areas but in this day and age why should I have to leave my room to send emails, I know there was no cost for it but would rather there was if I could use in the room
Ambience , nice decoration . Food very good and readonable price . Special mention to a lovely waitress who brought us coffee in the reception area .
Poor wifi , 3 passwords needed for different hotel areas . No reception in room . Not really acceptable in this day and age and no good for business travellers , would keep them away ! Lovely restaurant but having to place food order at the bar when there were plenty of waiting staff brought it down to a pub chain level .
Good modernisation of an old building. Good restaurant and reasonably good breakfasts.
Lack of lift.
Older building with log fire in reception and quirky bedrooms Conservatory (restaurant area) overlooking river Good parking Friendly staff
The hotel is ideally situated just outside of the town centre but its only a 3min walk, the facilities are excellent so much do that we have already booked for a return visit
Small but attractive room with view of river and nice bathroom too.
Lots of stairs, but then that is what you expect in an old building with character!
quietness helpful staff excellent food
4.6ft bed - would have liked 5 ft bed
Lovely room, great views of the river, very attractive "conservatory" type dining room with fairy lights.
Very difficult to find in the dark, down a narrow drive off a small back street. A muddle with our order meant we waited 40 minutes to start our evening meal.
Everything was excellent . Couldn't fault anything. Lovely location and we had great weather too for late October.
Location, Food, Parking. Comfy bed
You could hear other people moving about due to creaking floors. Television a bit small.
Quiet location. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Large room and large bathroom.
Fantastic location, will go back in spring.
Great Location, Staff excellent, Good food, Old world charm of original exposed roof beams in loft bedrooms.
If on business, could have problem linking to Wi-Fi if important.
beds too small
Accommodation, location, food and friendly staff. Will certainly book again.
Having to order food at the bar.
The setting is wonderful and the building, like most of Beccles, is architecturally beautiful.
I suspect that in the height of summer, it could be hell with the crowds. Am happy that I did my trip in September !
Setting by the river, good service, food was good.
Too hot in bedroom, took duvet out of cover, used cover as a sheet.Could only use the shower in the crouch/sitting position.
the hotel was set by the river.there was ample table and chairs outside on the terrace for sitting and dining if you so wished.the décor was clean and bright.there was a conservatory where we had breakfast.which also faced the river.the bedroom was spacious with a good sized bathroom.the staff were friendly and efficient.and a good choice for breakfast.would recommend it .
there was nothing that we didn`t like
