Waveney House Hotel  

This is a very old building, lots of charm. It has been very nicely renovated to modern standards. With a log fire, large sofas, and the Sunday morning papers to read. Breakfast was cooked to order, and an amazing view over the river from our breakfast table. We didn't try the evening meals, as we had a family gathering elsewhere, but the menu looks excellent, and not over priced. It was a pleasure, and a privilege to be able to stay at such an amazing hotel. We will be staying there again.

Excellent location, short walk to town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room, dining room overlooks river. Good choice on menu with a selection of specials also. Food and service excellent. A great place to stay.

Stayed overnight as we were guests at a wedding reception at the hotel , found the room comfortable and the staff very pleasant. The restaurant / bar area was really nice with a lovely view of the river though the prices seemed a little expensive. Overall we found the hotel excellent and would certainly go back

Not a proper shower in our room just a hand held hair washer. Stairs to upstairs rooms could be quite difficult for less able bodied people

Staff were very helpful and pandered to my grand daughter's faddy food needs well done

We were in the top room overlooking the river it was very spacious but I was disapointed that there was not a proper shower, I managed but a proper shower would have been better.

The setting is lovely. Refurb has given the hotel a nice feel. Food was good within a brasserie environment.

The bedroom was a little small. The main reception was no staffed at all times which was less than welcoming upon arrival (not the best first impression).

Style and location of the hotel

The breakfast experience was totaly unacceptable. Long waits and cooking due to new chef very very poor.

Location

The location of this hotel was excellent. The river terrace was a bonus and conservatory dining overlooking the river good. Our room was of a very high quality. Solid furniture and plenty of it if you were planning to stay for a week or so. Very clean and confortable.

My only criticism was that the Reception was not fully manned. You have to ring for service and sometimes that was not answered in good time and you had to wait for another member of staff to locate someone to help. The extra bed was just a fold up camp bed, would be ok for a 5 or 6 year old but not a teenager, as in our case, or third adult in the room. And definately not for more than one or two nights stay.

Evening meal - best Haddock that I have ever tasted. Hotel room sloped which was interesting but quaint!

A lovely hotel situated on the banks of the river Waveney, yet an easy walk to the centre of Beccles. The restaurant overlooks the river and makes the good food more enjoyable. Bedrooms were quite adequate with high ceilings giving them a nice feel – well looked after and with all modern facilities.

Rooms small but charming. No Lift to second floor. At £98 for the room very good value

the breakfast was very good and the bed was comfortable giving a good nights sleep.

Hotel could do with a lick of paint as room and staircase were a bit shabby. Attention to house keeping would be beneficial to ensure that 'supplies' are in the room. No food available after 2100. Only a hand held shower attachment - you could not stand up. Bathrom was a challenge for tall people - especially males
