Beds were soft and very comfortable, all staff were friendly and helpful. The menu is varied with a choice for all tastes, although at times food was overcooked. Location is excellent for touring the broads or for some retail therapy. A very enjoyable short break and would use this hotel again. On arrival we were put in a top floor room with lots of beams, some of them very low and my husband kept banging his head as he tried to move around the room. I spoke to the reception and they moved us to a different room on the first floor which was lovely with no low beams.

The Waveney House Hotel is situated alongside the Waverney River. Little boats to fancy larger boats pass by giving you something watch. The hotel room we stayed in was very spacious looking over the river to a view of countryside. Breakfast was served in the conservatory very relaxing. Breakfast was excellant. The meals were exceptional and value for money. We will be staying again. Fruit segments were only put out to help yourself to on Sunday morning.

Hotel was well located and easy to access, quiet and peaceful The hotel had false promise and the staff spent a lot of time talking amongst themselves in public places, they gave the impression of being under employed and was due possibly to poor management. Would recommend only with reservations

This is a very old building, lots of charm. It has been very nicely renovated to modern standards. With a log fire, large sofas, and the Sunday morning papers to read. Breakfast was cooked to order, and an amazing view over the river from our breakfast table. We didn't try the evening meals, as we had a family gathering elsewhere, but the menu looks excellent, and not over priced. It was a pleasure, and a privilege to be able to stay at such an amazing hotel. We will be staying there again.

Stayed overnight as we were guests at a wedding reception at the hotel , found the room comfortable and the staff very pleasant. The restaurant / bar area was really nice with a lovely view of the river though the prices seemed a little expensive. Overall we found the hotel excellent and would certainly go back Not a proper shower in our room just a hand held hair washer. Stairs to upstairs rooms could be quite difficult for less able bodied people

The Hotel is in an enviable position on the edge of the Waveney river, so we observed quite a lot of wildlife. It is very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room was overlooking the river, and the food was very pleasant, although there were some rather strange combinations. Our room was spacious and the decor was subtle. Our room was overlooking the car park used by early morning delivery lorries. Also the en suite was directly above the flat roof for the kitchens with the result of having noisy extractor fans disturbing our sleep. Not too keen on the arrangement of artificial flowers in the hearth - but that's a personal view.

I have stayed at the Waverney before many years ago, I was much impressed with the renovation. The hotel is bright and cheerful without loosing its old character. The staff are most helpful. I really can not say much as I am very positive about the hotel the only very minor point was that the dining table was sticky. The dining is a great location for breakfast.

The setting is lovely. Refurb has given the hotel a nice feel. Food was good within a brasserie environment. The bedroom was a little small. The main reception was no staffed at all times which was less than welcoming upon arrival (not the best first impression).

Location. Bed size too small. Room needed two chairs instead of one and perhaps a small table.

A lovely hotel situated on the banks of the river Waveney, yet an easy walk to the centre of Beccles. The restaurant overlooks the river and makes the good food more enjoyable. Bedrooms were quite adequate with high ceilings giving them a nice feel – well looked after and with all modern facilities.

Loation. Friendliness of staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Good evening meals. Mould around bath. Dirty carpet in bedroom. Not enough teas/milks in room. No fresh fruit or yohurt for breakfasts. Breakfast fish stated "poached" but was very hard & dry.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food at breakfast was very tasty and well presented.Lovely location on the river side with some good walks locally. It would have been nice to see fresh 'real' flowers in reception rather than artificial flowers. A shower in the bathroom as well as a bath would be good.

Relaxed, helpful and friendly staff in 17th century building that has been sensibly refurbished. Comfortable mix of old and new. Good value evening meal (pub menu and prices but rather better cooking than usual) and excellent traditional breakfast. Leave your blackberry behind unless you are happy to go outside (River Garden or the Car Park) to raise a signal. Thick walls block mobile/wifi signals - you need to go to the lounge/reception area or outside to go on-line. Even then Beccles is a broadband desert. Ideal refuge where the office cannot get hold of you - but cuts both ways.

The location of this hotel was excellent. The river terrace was a bonus and conservatory dining overlooking the river good. Our room was of a very high quality. Solid furniture and plenty of it if you were planning to stay for a week or so. Very clean and confortable. My only criticism was that the Reception was not fully manned. You have to ring for service and sometimes that was not answered in good time and you had to wait for another member of staff to locate someone to help. The extra bed was just a fold up camp bed, would be ok for a 5 or 6 year old but not a teenager, as in our case, or third adult in the room. And definately not for more than one or two nights stay.
