Staff very helpful. Rooms a bit of a maze to find but once there clean and comfortable.
Tv stuck on music channel but Bill discounted to compensate so all good in the end!
Full of character, excellent staff. The pool, sauna and gym were top quality and included in the price.
Followed TomTom, ended up at the trade entrance. Should have noticed the sign!
Staff were first class.Food in the restaurant was excellent on first night and average on second night.
The hotel looks tired and could do with a cash injection.Bedroom was on the small side but the stay was good value for money.
Good sized comfortable rooms with all amenities needed for a stay
Nothing negative to add
parking wifi price
wifi not in room freezing cold room uncomfortable bed
I left a necklace there and within an hour reception called me to say I left it. They even offered to post it.
Bed was a little noisy every time you turned over
Overall, a very clean and well presented hotel.
Breakfast finished at 9.30, we got into the restaurant at 9.20, as you can imagine, there wasn't much left, when I asked about cooking mute for my partner and I, I was told we were to late. Bar prices are extremely high as well, the price doesn't reflect the overall standard of the facility. Having said the above, I would stay there again.
Approach from afar, Victorian grandeur, spendid grounds and low cost
Paper thin walls, patchy Wi Fi, noisy fellow guests, more like a workers camp!
Overall enjoyed stay, hotel and swimming pool was good, staff were friendly, see opposite for one part not up to scratch. Good value for money. Will stay again
Thought the food served in the dining room on Sunday evening was not of expected standard. Probably heads chef's night off. Monday evening food was much better.
Very helpful night porter
Room was extremely hot even though heating was off and although you could open the window their was no air coming in, making the room stuffy and uncomfotable for sleeping
Friendly staff. It's a 10mins drive to an excellent pub called the New Inn, Axbridge which saved our evenings. We cosied up in there, with excellent ale, food and atmosphere and only returned to the hotel to sleep!
The mentioned million pound 'refit' must have been a long time ago. This lovely old hotel has been stripped of character and boasts scuffed carpets, soggy 80s leather sofas and a weatherspoons inspired selection of beers. Basic and uninspiring. Our mini bar cups and biscuits were furry with dust. Guests of the wedding ran around the corridors outside our room, slamming doors and yelling in the small hours, which was noisy as the dividing walls and ceiling are paper thin in the 'new' annexe. I was attracted by the price, but it is really a service station sleep over rather than a choice for our weekend away. Budget.
comfortable bed, spacious guest areas
food was ordered but never received, radiator in bedroom not working, I notified reception but it was not fixed even after being told it would be. Hotel could be signposted better.
sports area and pool lovely.staff really polite.i paid 35 pound which was great value for our overnight break.
room wasnt very warm on a cold night.bathroom floor not very clean as was the door.
The breakfast is excellent and the view from the swimming pool is stunning.Excellent friendly service.
In the daylight the view from the hotel is second to none. Rooms comfortable and good standard bathrooms and quiet. Stayed in November so got an excellent room only deal which was great as a working base
Arrived in the dark both nights of my stay so found it difficult to find the car park and was not the only one -better lighting at the enter emcee and signposts would help
Great hotel, nice quiet room, great facilities with a nice quiet pool.
Warm and comfortable but a long way from anywhere - bristol 45 minutes - lovely location - nice views -staff friendly - cheap room through bookings.com - giant car park - spa and pool not used
Hotel is very large - we were in the coach house at the back a fair walk and several staircases with suitcases - main restaurant very expensive and has bad reviews - bar meal (2 burgers) with drink for two came to £28 - very average - recommend Axeminster village 3 miles several nice looking pubs !
We enjoyed everything and would definitely stay again.
Easy to get to and from the M5 One of the best nights sleep I've had Bar and pool looked nice
The setting is superb, wonderful views and very nice terraces to sit down and enjoy the views. Friendly staff. Room spotlessly clean and good quality sheets and pillow cases.
Walking up stairs from reception, across the bar and then down some more stairs, then up some stairs, then across the courtyard, then up a further two flights of stairs, through the door and then along the corridor before I reached the room. A very long way if you need to fetch more luggage out of the car, and especially when the car is parked at the far end of the very large car park in the dark and the rain. Hot water is dangerously hot!! Someone could seriously burn themselves.
Worth a room with a view. Staff very helpful. Relaxing areas.
The location and room was lovely, room had everything you needed, comfortable bed. Staff were also friendly and helpful, would stay again!
Place was a bit tired and needs updating. Also in the spa we found it a bit uncomfortable having to walk through the gym from the pool to the steam and sauna, in just towels.
lovely hotel with lots of history and comfort rather than the stereo type all the same hotels
only stayed for the one night but would hope to revisit again in the future
Clean, well kept hotel with good facilities such as the pool and steam room.
The room was freezing cold upon entry with no way of turning the central heating on, as we arrived relatively late in the evening it was impossible to warm the room up. After a good night's sleep the room was equally as cold in the morning. Not good. Also the room was quite dark, the lighting was poor and there was only a tiny window.
