Webbington HotelLoxton, BS26 2HU Loxton (Show map) Good, Score from 153 reviews“The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and the restaurant service was very quick and efficient.”
Stephen,
Southampton
On the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills, overlooking the picturesque hamlet of Loxton, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and newly refurbished recreational facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool. Having recently undergone a million-pound refurbishment to its recreational facilities, the Webbington Hotel now offers a brand new indoor heated swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a steam room, a sauna and a solarium. For some luxurious pampering and a little well-earned indulgence, the hotel has beauticians and aromatherapists. The hotel also now has a brand new terrazzo bar with stunning views across the Somerset countryside. There is also an adjacent sun lounge and 2 floodlit tennis courts, all with panoramic views over the valley. The excellent restaurant serves a range of freshly made dishes and can cater to most dietary requirements. Free on-site parking is available for guests. Hotel Rooms: 61

Period feel, inside and out. Good spa, although separating wet areas by the gym is poor design. Good breakfast, excellent service from the staff. Bedroom (room 102) very small - OK for 2 nights, but I would hope there are bigger rooms for longer stays.

Checking out and driving away as fast as possible! Its that bad. Drove past front entrance due to poor signage. Room very small.Spiders were very big. Bathroom smaller. Leisure facilities poorly designed. Changing rooms tiny and no complimentary shampoo or gel. Pool tiles not non-slip. Messy layout. Served room temperature white wine at dinner, waiter did offer to change it. The chef can't cook a steak! Very basic stuff! Asked for medium and got well done. The fish dish was not as described, it had prawns so both main courses rejected. Breakfast was no better. We asked for 3 poached eggs but for some reason they could only cook 2 at a time, odd One of us had to wait 5 minutes for their breakfast .Kept awake all night by wedding party. The arrival of the Police made things quieter. But M5 motorway was never quiet! Staff did not seem to recognise the poor quality of service. Overall impression of the hotel is that everything done on the cheap. Next time we will go to that famous hotel in Torquay, has to be better.

pool, bars, views. sheer scale. Food looked good. Annex rooms are poor and unexpected. It is misleading to give views of main hotel and then get dumped at the back in rather poor and noisy rooms with the door banging downstairs all night. I was on a stick after having operation on foot and was sent to 2nd floor of annex. Not great for me. Staff should have asked. The hotel was not full. If I stay again, I will only do so if I get a room in the main hotel. The annex is worse than travelodge and you get no views-stuck at the back.

Warm reception on arrival - bar service was a little hit and miss as the bar-tender seemed to keep disappearing. Breakfast was fine - not a great fan of buffets but seems the norm now for most hotels - service was excellent and friendly in the restaurant and apart from the rubbery buffet fried eggs, very appetising. A nice touch was the Tiptree jams and conserves - a rare example of a hotel where the quality of the product over-rules the penny-pinching bean counters. All in all, we found the hotel staff warm, friendly and efficient and (unusual in this day and age) well turned out and polite. Thank you Webbington! Rubbery fried eggs and the wait to be served at the bar - not because the guy was busy, just because he kept disappearing!

I have seen this hotel from the m5 for about 20 years or more and have always fancied it, It was so exciting looking out of our hotel room to see the tail lights and the m5 night lit up from a distance. The room was perfect in size and had everything we wanted, decoration was good - walls a wee bit thin ( we were next to stairwell ) - but it didnt disturb us once we were asleep. I had the pool and steam room to myself - I loved it, really loved it - hoping to book again in February sometime for a spa break. The price just added to the wonder of the night!

Leisure Facilities good , Breakfast very good selection Roomvery cold & can hear traffic from Motorway, room also very tired badly inneed of refurbishment. They say they have 24hr porter , but if you were arriving back at hotel you would have to let them know as they close the front doors, so we let reception know & on our return back at 01.45 we had to walk all around the outside of the Hotel & gain entry at the rear also lighting not ver ygood

Good breakfast choice. Hot breakfast choices well cooked and pleasant. The website declares that the hotel has been recently refurbished. That refurbishment had obviously not extended to our bedroom. While the room was comfortable, the heating was not switched on and the room was unbearably cold. We asked for the heating to be switched on. This was done with 45 minutes or so. The heating was then turned off at around 8.00p.M. making the room freezing again when temperature was around 6 to 8 degreesC. The carpet had not been vacuumed for some considerable time and was quite dirty.

The room and beds were clean. Location good for our requirements. Food good It was very geared up for business and corporate/large occasions (weddings and parties). Limited attention to casual customers. No one introduced us to where facilities were, I.e dining room, spa leisure facilities. The motor way was very noisy.

useful to stay overnight on the way to cornwall near the M5 relaxing. We booked dinner for 7.30pm as we had a long day travelling because of a wedding we had to wait until 8.15 for our meal this is not acceptable , there should be some other provision for paying guests to eat at a time of there choice.

gym, good high tech equipment. breakfast good and plentiful. We had a courtyard room. Extremely dated, bed very uncomfortable, shower over bath leaked onto floor and sprayed out from shower head in all directions. Room very small for two people. When we arrived there was a workman hammering and taking the sink off the wall in the next room. We stayed in a courtyard room in 2004 for a family wedding and the rooms do not seem to have been upgraded since then. Very disappointed. The gym / spa and communal areas of hotel were a good standard and these rooms need urgent upgrading to reflect this. Pool was very cloudy after cleaning. No 24 hour reception.

The best aspect of our stay was having access to the spa and fitness facilities. Both my son and I used the pool and steam room nearly every day.

It was lovely to sit out on the terrace and watch the sunset, having had a relaxing swim. I did not like having to walk from the ladies changing room through the leisure reception to the swimming pool, in my costume and towel. It was awkward when ordering drinks at the bar - in this case, cider and it was flat and the bartender did not seem to understand what the concern was.Incidentally a fellow resident said he too had complained re the flatness of his lager the day before and got nowhere. We ate elsewhere that evening because the draught drinks were flat - up to you whether this is an 'official complant'.

Ease of booking. Choice of package. Plenty of good parking. Familiarity (we have been before). Welcoming without excessive fuss. No heating when we woke in the morning (but this was rectified)! Access not easy for those unfamiliar with the place and interior signposting inadequate. OK if you have time to "explore". Not really recommended for the infirm and elderly - lots of steps.

Very nice with a good gym and food is very good. A well run comfortable and friendly hotel. Can't complain at all and I have stayed in 4 and 5 star around the world this hotel was better with service and cleanliness and facilities than some of them while remaining more homely at the same time .. It's size and cost what more could you want. Because of the age of the buildings some rooms are a little tight in size compared to others but the standard more than made up for a little lack of walking space in the room
