Very comfortable bed Spotlessly clean Everything you'd need in the room (although a little small) Wonderfully large bathroom Great evening meal in the hotel pub (The stables) - good food and great value
Poor choice of continental breakfast
Trying to connect direct with hotel Very Poor answering and messaging
Great place with good dining option and nice pub in the grounds for more informal food and drinks. Warm welcome and good room standards with FREE wifi [why dont all hotels offer this]. Will definately use again.
No gym or pool on site - use facilities near by. Confernce /training rooms busy so replenishment of tea/milk wasn't the greatest but nice touches with free snacks - So minor issue really and easy fix.
Great bedroom, huge bed and loads of fluffy pillows. Free WiFi. Scrumptious breakfast. Had a problem with the TV remote control which was very quickly and efficiently sorted out by the receptionist
no arm chair to sit down upon. no mini bar.
The room was spacious and clean with all necessary facilities for an overnight stay. The bathroom was smart and clean. Breakfast was excellent, front of desk staff very polite. Location / grounds - superb. I would happily stay again.
Noise from a wedding party - bar staff clearly exhausted and unable to provide a quick cup of tea.
I liked the grounds ,squirrels were running in the woodland. Room 262 was quiet. The room had lots of facilities to meet our needs and expectations of a 4* hotel. The price of £69 for bed and breakfast for one night was very reasonable.
The smell of drains when we were downstairs from room 262 and walked along the ground floor to the reception.
Good standard for this type of hotel.
WiFi did not work - but I may have been doing it incorrectly!
King size bed in comfortable room. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very friendly and professional staff. Will stay again (and again!)
Several restaurants to chose from, pleasant staff, parking, good breakfast, room compact but had all the necessary facilities.
customer service level was very high. nothing was too much.
The decor and surroundings. Lovely courtyard and the stables pub on site.
We booked with booking.com quoted £62.10 but was charged £69.00 obviously someone not communicating properly! Also size of room quite compact although there was everything you needed. Coulkd may bee have had moire coffee on tray.
Lovely grounds, hotel and room excellent for money, and breakfast fab. Would recommend this hotel in future
Kept waiting at reception as all staff seemed to be too preoccupied with a task that one was doing, others looking over her shoulder, so unnecessary wait to book in.
Choice of places to eat, the brasserie and the pub. The breakfast was really good, plenty of choices and nice dining area.
Rooms and service.
The quiet location and access to public footpath across the university grounds made for a very relaxing time and a beautiful morning walk. Staff were helpful in every way. Superb buffet Breakfast. Excellent value for money all round.
1st night wi-fi did not work.
Great selection of Food at Breakfast
Main restaurant closed due to Gala Dinner so had to eat in The Stables Pub (which we were lucky to get a cancellation otherwise no tables free). Drama with Police, Staff and Guests that had been asked to leave. WiFi kept logging out so had to continuously log back in. Black hairs on Wall in the Bath. Guests extremely noisy early hours and looked like a food fight as chips were all over the corridor the next morning.
nice lobby and brasserie area. all kept very tidy good omelet prepared
1st room was way too small for a couple. would suit leprechauns! had to pay £20 for an upgraded room which was more suitable for us. usually stay at the village next door and fancied a change. as hotel was not busy the upgrade could have been complementary as good will for any future booking. kept losing wifi connections and had to rejoin several times.
The room and the breakfast was excellent!
No one told us we could get a bar meal in the hotel on new years eve. Told us to use the stables and has i have a disabled husband had to go outside. To find all the tables reserved and no seats. We had to stand for half a hr while a couple gave us there seats. Also there was no choice for food ended up with steak pie which was no way worth £15 for 2 meals as there was hardly any meat in it.
Booked this hotel a few days before New Years Eve. Only disappointment was Resturant closed and not informed on this site. Will go again that is for sure.
The majority of staff were excellent, particularly the night duty manager and his assistant. The location is very good.
Having arrived early evening we decided to have a drink in the Stable Bar. At 9.45, female member of staff began putting chairs on tables, we got the message and left. The first morning the breakfast was atrocious, bacon impossible to cut, the fried bread split and left the plate the two eggs asked for became one, however after the one arrived I was pleased there was not a second. Second day went to church so we only had toast, third day the breakfast was excellent, the fourth day was ok. Pillows were horrible so we went out and bought two. Prior to leaving I settled my bill and left a £30 tip, mainly for the duty manager, after breakfast asked for my paper and was told I had not ordered one, despite being given one each morning, receptionist showed no interest despite being told this. Regretted leaving a tip. Would not return.
Good hotel for single traveller - good service
Staff were helpful. Enjoyed breakfast
Standard double rooms were very small
Moment arrived tried to charge me more than what the room was advertised. Then tried to charge me for breakfast which was already included in the room. Then once pointed out still charged me £15 for a service charge £15? Ridiculous! Would never go back due to the incompetence of staff and their lack of common curtesy not one apology for any of the attempted over charges and the breakfast order wasn't even what we asked for.
The room was warm, comfortable and inviting. We both slept exceedingly well, as there was no outside noise.
