Great location, well appointed rooms, very welcoming. Good parking facilities, short stroll to pubs shops/cafes in Pangbourne. Despite proximity to railway line/station it was quiet and peaceful at night. Good quality contiental breakfast.
Eileen went out of her way to be helpful and friendly to a weary traveller. Room was lovely, bathroom was big, clean and luxurious. Highly recommended.
Very helpful staff when I didn't feel well in the morning!
Having to choose what time to have breakfast the day before
The staff were exceptionally friendly and bent over backwards to assist and advise us. They recommended local restaurants and places of interest and even downloaded a train timetable for us. We would certainly recommend Weir View House.
Room size Location Staff friendliness Cleanliness
Breakfast could have had a cooked option
The facility was quiet even though it is located on a busy street. The staff was helpful and congenial. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was good. The setting was authentically small village England. Loved it.
no cons noted
Location, quiet room, WiFi and a good breakfast. Good pub opposite with food and river views.
Nothing I did not like.
Very friendly but not over top Breakfast everything done well Interesting location with Thames outside. As former Thames Lock-keeper and Weir used to lock-house met my standard for getting my head round river again. Thanks
Location.nice large room. very clean.
Thought the breakfast let the place down. too much emphasis on pre packaged food. no personal service at breakfast.
Location is fantastic and the pub opposite is very good, if somewhat pricey. The rooms are airy and spacious and if you get one overlooking the weir so much the better. The car parking is very good and spacious and despite being on a busy road there was little noise through the double glazing. There are some great walks along the Thames and plenty to see and do locally. It is also just a minute or two from the station
For the cost of £ 105 per night I thought it was not value for money. I know that this is an expensive area but so is Central London and we have had better value there. The continental breakfast was small and had crumpets instead of croissants. The breakfast room had not been hoovered from the day before and the carpet needed replacing throughout the ground floor. It just looked tired and in need of tlc both inside and out. Bedrooms had only one hand towel for two people which apparently is company policy. Little things like this make a difference. I can recommend it on its location but that is not an excuse for not keeping the place cared for and up to the mark. Maybe as we were the only ones there on a friday night everyone takes a break I hope that was the case.
We booked the executive suite and wasn't disappointed! Upon arrival we were welcomed and taken to our room. Huge bed, very clean and great views! Cheap mini bar too!
Room was large, with excellent facilities, very comfortable bed. Very close to small village shops, and good restaurants. Train to London runs regularly, even late enough to watch evening concerts downtown London. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Were very willing to help with anything. Would return there anytime.
There are so many hostelries that seem to believe that an old, soft, lumpy mattress that sags in the middle adds a bit of charm. It was such a joy to walk into our room in Weir House and find a firm new mattress. A wonderful comfort. A great night's sleep. The folks who run Weir House are personable and genuinely helpful. A lovely spot!
There was nothing not to like!
Location with easy access to the Railway Station.Plenty of restaurants in nearby town (a few minutes walk away)
Nothing to dislike.
Lovely location and nice spacious room
Hairs found in sink and on non slip bath mat.
Lovely clean room, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with great shower, easy parking, very friendly and helpful staff, nice/useful selection of goodies in bedroom at a sensible price, just what we were after.
Only negative was the lack of a cooked breakfast - we could have done with one - but plenty of other foods available (all self-service).
Beautiful location & comfortable rooms
Tiny breakfast & room & no hot breakfast
Despite being the smallest in the house our room was a good size and well equipped, including a useful fridge. We had a view of the river & weir from our window although the trees outside obscured it a bit! The bed was very comfortable and all the usual amenities were there. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly and although they do not run a 24 hour Reception this was not an issue since we were given a front door key to come and go as we pleased. There is a delightful old pub over the road serving good food with a terrace overlooking the river. Panbourne itself has further places to eat along with access to the Thames Path which gives an opportunity for a long walk close to the river bank. All in all a nice place to spend a weekend.
No cooked breakfast would be a minor downside to the amenities but there is a really nice sandwich shop in Panbourne which serves All Day Breakfast if you didn't want to miss out! The TV in our room was rather small but it was adequate.
friendly clean and excellent for the train station, lovely pub over the road on the river
The TV signal was very poor
Good parking space, large rooms, local pub (across the road!), friendly staff.
Breakfast arrangements... you need to book a half-hour slot which was very unusual & restrictive, as dinning area was very small. Could even sit with friends as only small round tables.
An excellent B&Bwith wonderful views of thw Weir, spacious rooms, and courteous friendly service.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful big room Beautiful view
Dripping shower head Bedroom door lock is difficult to use
