The guest house has good access to the region’s major road network and is close to the A11 and the A47.

The guest house offers a range of accommodation to suit the needs and budget of any traveller. Whether you are exploring Norwich as a tourist, visiting the city on business or attending a conference, the comfortable, peaceful rooms provide a relaxing haven. En suite rooms are available and there are also rooms with shared bathrooms.

There is a brand-new breakfast room with a self-service buffet bar, as well as a stylish and comfortable coffee lounge, in which guests can relax. The coffee lounge can even be reserved for business meetings.

Ground floor rooms are available for those with reduced mobility and anti-allergy laundry and cleaning procedures have been adopted.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is available from 07:30 to 09:00 on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and from 08:00 to 09:30 on weekends and public holidays.

There is a self-service buffet bar offering fruit juice, a choice of cereals, grapefruit segments, prunes, yoghurts and fruits. The full cooked English breakfast includes grilled bacon, fried egg, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and sausage. Vegetarian sausages are also available. There is also a choice of brown or white toast with a selection of jams, marmalades and honey. Other options are available on request, but should preferably be requested in advance. A choice of tea or coffee, including speciality teas and decaffeinated coffee, is also available.

The guest house has 18 bedrooms, of which 12 include en suite bathrooms.

There are 3 en suite family rooms with a double bed and a full-size single bed. These rooms can accommodate up to 3 people or can also be used as double or twin rooms.

There is also one large en suite family room, which has a double bed plus 2 full-size single beds. This room can accommodate up to 4 people.

There are 6 rooms that share 3 public bathrooms. Each of these rooms contain a vanity unit with a mirror and light. There are 5 standard single rooms and one standard double room.

A hairdryer, electric fans and heaters are in the room. Ironing facilities are available on request.

All of the rooms have a TV with digital Freeview channels.

Area information

The guest house is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the very heart of Norwich city centre and all of its attractions. As well as the 2 cathedrals and a castle, the city also boasts beautiful medieval churches, buildings and museums to visit. For shoppers, there is the brand new Chapelfield Centre, the celebrated Norwich market, which has recently been refurbished, and the historic Lanes, with a wide range of unique shops, independent stores and boutiques. In the evening, the city offers several theatres and cinemas, and a variety of restaurants and pubs.

The Wensum Guest House also has good access to the region’s major road network, including the A11 and A47. The good road links make the guest house a great base from which to explore the unspoilt North Norfolk coast and the famous Norfolk Broads. The University of East Anglia and the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital are just a short drive away.

Travel information

By Air:
The hotel is approximately 5 km from Norwich International Airport. Bus number 603 runs every 15 minutes during the day from the airport into the main bus station. Alternatively, taxis are readily available from just outside the airport.

By Coach:
The guest house is approximately 20 minutes’ walk from Norwich’s main bus and coach station. You can take the numbers 19, 20, 21 and 22 buses to the guest house from the bus stop just around the corner from the station. When you reach the bus and coach station, go down to Surrey Street and turn left. Turn right when you reach St Stephen's Street and then turn left up Rampant Horse Street until you see the bus stop for the number 19, 20, 21 and 22 buses. Alternatively, you may prefer to take a taxi if you have heavy luggage. A taxi to the guest house should take about 5 minutes.

By Train:
The guest house is approximately 40 minutes’ walk from Norwich’s train station. Taxis are readily available from just outside the station. Alternatively you can take a bus. Cross over the car park to the main road (Riverside), cross over to the river and walk over the bridge on Prince of Wales Road to find the first bus stop on the left-hand side. The number 19 bus and the number 20 bus run regularly from here to the bus stop near the guest house.
